Before Bade Miyan Chote Miyan Vs Maidaan Box Office Clash: 5 Huge Eid Battles That Did Not Happen (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Akshay Kumar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is releasing on Eid 2024, and while the film was enjoying a solo release date till a week back, Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan has dropped in to occupy the same release date. The two superstars will now lock horns at the box office for the 9th time in their career.
However, while the two films are ready to clash at Eid, which might affect each other, the festival release date is the most sought-after date in Bollywood. Generally, it has been Salman Khan who has always ruled the Eid release date almost every year.
Even in 2023, Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan was released on Eid. However, this year, while Bhaijaan is taking a sabbatical, Eid was a major opportunity to tap on.

Actor-turned-film critic Kamaal Rashid Khan, better known as Krk, who was arrested on Monday for a 2020 tweet, has done a few Bhojpuri films and just two Hindi films in his career. One, the action-thriller ‘Deshdrohi’ and the 2014 runaway hit ‘Ek Villain’, where he had a cameo appearance. Nevertheless, he is a social media star commanding a vast loyal following.
In fact, ‘Deshdrohi’ is one of the worst films that one could ever think of and that could give nightmares to the likes of Alfred Hitchcock, Akira Kurosawa and Francois Truffaut over its outrageous content, pulpy writing, bad acting and everything bad that one could think of.
But, if the logs of Torrents are put to audit, ‘Deshdrohi’ will secure a spot among the most downloaded films and the ones with the highest number of seeds, thanks to hostelites and engineering students.

Wendy Morgan‘s animal welfare docu-drama “Mercy” has been picked up by Los Angeles-based distributor All Channel Films, Inc. All Channel Films will represent the film, which premiered at the Awareness Film Festival in October, in the U.S. and Canada across pay and basic cable, video/DVD, VOD/SVOD, PPV and other distribution platforms.
With humans standing in for animals, “Mercy” lifts the lid on the more unpalatable side of the meat industry as told though the eyes of a pig named Mercy as she goes from a factory farm to a slaughterhouse. Maria Austin (“The Reverend and Mrs. Simpson”) plays Mercy alongside Annette Badland (“Ted Lasso”), Mark Wingett (“Quadrophenia”) and Morgan (“Mrs. Lowry and Son”), who wrote and directed the film.
“One of my goals was to bring ‘Mercy’ to North American audiences to raise awareness about the film’s disturbing but important subject matter,” said Morgan.

TollywoodThere are three movies releasing this Sankranti, including Rrr, Bheemla Nayak and Radhe Shyam.Rajeswari ParasaIn the Telugu states, it’s become a yearly ritual to watch a box-office clash take place during Sankranti, the first festival of the year. However, earlier this year, theatres were bare due to the coronavirus pandemic that kept them shut for months. In 2022, big budget movies that were delayed due to Covid-19 are hoping for major returns, and have locked their release dates for the festival season in the state’s roughly 1,800 theatres. For the upcoming Sankranti season, three big movies — Rrr, Bheemla Nayak and Radhe Shyam — are going head to head at the box-office in the Telugu states. Theatre owners are banking on these releases to bring audiences back to the movies in a big way as they hope to recover some of the major losses experienced since March 2020. The nationwide lockdown shuttered theatres across the country.

Movie shoots have either been stalled for long enough or, in some cases, completed in a patchwork manner. Take for example, the recently-released Salman Khan movie, "Radhe". The villain has been established as having come from Malaysia and the climax was to be shot in Bangkok were it not for the pandemic enforced restrictions. As a result, the film, slated for release on Eid 2020, could finally be released only this year on the occasion of Eid. Actor Govinda has reacted to a recent tweet by actor-turned-film critic Kamaal R. Khan, or Krk, allegedly thanking him for his love and support. Govinda has said he is not in touch with Krk for years and the person mentioned in the latter's tweet could be someone else with the same name, as he is not tagged in it.
"Govinda Bhai thank you for your love and support. I won't disappoint you!" Krk had tweeted on May 29.

When Salman Khan announced his much-awaited Eid release 'Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai' would have a hybrid release, there were mixed reactions all around. With theatrical release mainly in the overseas market besides a negligible number of halls in India, "Radhe" dropped on the pay-per-view (PPV) platform Zeeplex for viewers in the country. The industry was looking at a new way of taking films to the viewers, one that had never been tried out in the country before.
A week after the film's release on May 13, the question doing the rounds among fans is an obvious one: Is "Radhe" a hit or a flop, given its new strategy of hybrid release?
Zee has announced that the film saw 4.2 million views across its online and Dth platforms on day one, adding that the heavy traffic temporarily brought servers down on that day, according to a report in livemint.com.

Salman Khan’s much awaited Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai opened to a whopping over 4.2 million views on its very first day in India. Jackie Shroff has been in Bollywood for almost four decades and is universally loved as a star and a human being. The actor says he does not have the fear of losing stardom because he feels that God surely seems to have a plan for him.
Jackie Shroff was touted as Bollywood's new big thing when he made a blockbuster debut as lead actor in Subhash Ghai's 1983 film "Hero". Through the decades, his notable films have included "Ram Lakhan", "Yudh", "Karma", "Parinda", "Tridev", "Kala Bazaar", "Vardi", "Doodh Ka Karz", "100 Days", "Angaar", "Khalnayak", "Rangeela", "Agnisakshi", "Bandhan", and the recent "Radhe".
It has been a journey where Jackie, 64, has taken the rough with the smooth. Has the thought of losing stardom ever scared him?

New Delhi, March 16 (Ians) Arjun Kanungo made his mark as a singer-songwriter, and now the 30-year-old is all excited to prove his mettle as an actor -- that too in a Salman Khan biggie. Arjun will be seen in the Bollywood superstar's Eid release of the year, "Radhe".

There seems to be some positive development for the exhibition trade, as some filmmakers are venturing to release their films at the cinema halls. Last year, due to Corona, some of the best release slots were lost. Since then, neither filmmakers nor viewers have come forward to take in a movie at a cinema hall.
Not that any film released since lockdown in cinema halls was withdrawn -- albeit with restrictions -- had what is called face value or promotion. The few films that managed to release were not worth one's while even during normal situation, least of all in Corona time.
Since the cinemas reopened in September last year, films like "Khali Peeli", "Bolo Hau", "Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari", "Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi", "12 'O' Clock", "Madam Chief Minister", "Kaagaz", "Indoo Ki Jawani", "Amma Ki Boli" and a few other such films released in cinema halls. They had...

Mumbai, March 9 (Ians) Hit director-actor combos are all set to be back in business this year. From Rohit Shetty-Ranveer Singh to Salman Khan-Prabhudheva and from Taapsee Pannu-Anurag Kashyap to Ranbir Kapoor-Ayan Mukerji, there are a host of teams lined up in some of the biggest projects, which have spelt magic at the box office in the past.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh feels this is always a boon. "It is always better to repeat 'jodi's. It doesn't matter if it is actors working again with each other or directors reuniting with actors. The expectation of the audiences increases and there is a curiosity. But, yes, at the end of the day it all depends on content. That has to be good," he said.
Talking about working with Abbas-Mustan again after eight years, in the upcoming film Penthouse, actor Bobby Deol said...

Mumbai, Feb 25: Bollywood experienced a lull last year with hardly any film getting a theatrical release owing to the complete closure of cinemas. With business opening up, many films are ready to release and raring to go. The inevitable, of course, is happening with a slew of films announcing release dates. In an overcrowded market, multiple Fridays this year will see box office clash between two films.
"These sort of clashes should not happen, especially at this time. As it is, business is slow. People are not coming to the theatres in big numbers and the situation is not all that profitable. At this point of time, we cannot afford clashes," says trade analyst Atul Mohan.
He adds that if producers only keep eyeing festive or strategic dates for release, such clashes are bound to happen and, what's more, their films might not end up doing as well as...
