This would be a fun show to be a part of but not to be sitting on the outside. The attempted humor is predictable and not much to laugh about. I watched the entire first season and was surprised that it got picked up for a 2nd season.
While the pilot was mostly boring and unfunny, the second episode is a huge improvement. I hope it's not a one-off but I somewhat have hope in this show now. I wouldn't write it off so quickly. I think it has potential. Will be sticking around for a while.
Just caught the first episode. I love Mayim. And the show is decent, but it's not as charming as the UK show it's trying to mirror called Miranda.
I'll probably still watch Call Me Kat, as I enjoy many of the actors in it, but it makes me really want to watch Miranda.

I wanted to write a review as there are a ton of bad reviews. I think the strongest part of the pilot episode was the last quarter of it, where Mayim was being less of a "Miranda" goofy and more of a goofy that fits her. I think it will find its stride over time. Not the strongest pilot, starts slow, but I do want to see what happens.

I was hoping all the reviews were wrong. OMG, I want my hour back. I tried 3 episodes. Who talks like that? And Kat needs a valium. There is over acting and there is just...well...Kat! The said part, it actually could be good, but new writer, and calm Kat down! And, get the f#$# out of Hollywood. The rest of us dont talk like that! Season 1 and.2 or the original Roseanne is how the real world is!

No, on every level.
Not funny, not charming. No redeeming qualities. Just no.
Stick to the glorious, faultless original that is Miranda.

First of all, I never saw what apparently was the original show "Miranda". And I know it is probably difficult to fall in love with a TV show based on one that you've watched and loved. But I think this is absolutely adorable, and perfect for getting through 2020 and still finding no end in sight. It's a very original promise, and I think that each of the actors are very clever, funny, and very natural! I don't need another murder mystery or hospital show thank you. What I need is a pleasant escape with a unique premise. I didn't know it was a remake until I read other reviews. I adored LOST, and can't imagine watching a remake with different characters. And it would be very unfair for me to compare them because it wouldn't be possible. Enjoy it for what it is people! A really wonderful ensemble cast having a good time and making the audience feel good.
It's an American version of Miranda series which was excellent and made in the UK, unfortunately this USA version is terrible not funny just a badly made copy. Watched the first episode couldn't watch anymore. Removing the 4th wall is only something Miranda can do and make it seem natural. Not watching any more of this USA series just going to rewatch Miranda now.

People who give it 5 minutes shouldn't be allowed to rate it. It's not terrible it's cheesy and quirky and she's a dork, so? It's light hearted and fun. Mayim has the talent to pull it off and I liked it. But I am also a 39 year old single woman with a cat, so bear that in mind. It's silly fun, don't take it too seriously.

What Happened to this show? It had funny actors, interesting characters and decent writers, but sadly since Leslie Jordan passed away, it's become a big bore. And bringing in that Amish character to replace Leslie is so lame.
I think the audience would have understood that replacing a character mid season would be challenging, but the producers couldn't have made a worst choice of a replacement and the writing is horrible. The whole show is reminiscent of bad slapstick comedy.
Don't prolong it, just pull the plug and let these actors go on to another show worth watching. They deserve better.

Ease up, Public!
Half Time!
For American series, wait till episode 12.
This gives time to get in groove and a more accurate critique.
****
Well done Call Me Cat (time has been given).
Your progressing every episode.
Last episode rated 7.5 :) Hope snap judgement from some doesn't win and y'all are given a second season chance.

The main problem for me is the difference in the central character (Miranda v Kat). While Miranda has a lovely vulnerability and is completely believable "spilling the beans" to the audience, Kat just seems too confident and sort of snide to pull it off. It's a shame--I like Mayim, but this doesn't suit her at all.
Call Me Kat is a near completely copy of the UK show Miranda. And sadly in a very not well done way.
Mayim doesnt have the same quirky, relatable feel that Miranda Hart does. Mayim comes off overly confident in a way that makes the relatable jokes so very unrelatable.

All the bad reviews are just par for the course these days. If it's blockbuster, high dollar perfection everyone rants.
It's not likely to make it to 100 episodes for sure BUT it has a good cast, the humor is basic but funny, main cast chemistry is fairly good. Mayim is her normal, quirky, funny self.
All in it is a fairly formulaic sit com but worth a watch if you are looking for something new or something fairly relaxing and easy to watch.
It is NOT as bad as all the 1-3* reviews. Those are just the angry internet as usual deciding since it isn't THEIR perfection it must be trash. Notice most people rate 1 or 10 these days and virtually NO show deserves either of those ratings.
So all in all, just give it watch. You may enjoy it.
I made it 5 minutes, Mayim doesn't have the charisma to talk to the camera. Who thought this was a good idea?
The first episode of this show was a little clunky but the 2nd was better. Good characters. Hope it gets better and better.

I watched the first three episodes and I can't wait to see more. I felt like I had to review this because there's way too many people only watching 5 minutes and leaving bad reviews. I'd suggest stop comparing it to another series and go in with an open mind. I personally am really enjoying it so far and Mayim Bialik is hilarious in it and it's always a treat to watch Leslie Jordan (Phil).

People need to relax, this is Kat and not Miranda. Remember it's not an exact copy, and I'm glad they are bringing in some new material. It's the first show, and we have to get use to characters talking to the camera - the Brits have it down, and Mayim did a damn good job. We got some good chuckles from the show, and will love to see these characters develop. Congrats on your work.

I loved Miranda, but it took several episodes for me to get into. From the first episode I think this has the same potential. I laughed out loud several times during the first episode (that kick at the end was fantastic) and am looking forward to where they take it. I really like Mayim and thought she was good at capturing the awkward and comedic timing of the show so far.

My wife likes this show but I think the humor is predictable and this is quite a drop from being Amy Farrah Fowler for Mayim Bialik who was a talented actor in the Big Bang Theory. Possibly with the same writers Call Me Kat would have been more entertaining. I keep watching her new show because of my wife but I haven't found that this one offers me much to enjoy. I keep thinking it might be better with time but the only character that had merit, Leslie Jordan, who passed away took virtually all the promise this program had for me. Since my wife has endured some of the programing that I like that she doesn't I will keep watching with her.

A real disappointment. I've come to realize several new shows/movies that saturate all media with previews end up being, well, crap. Most I never see, but I like Mayim Bialik and Swoozie Kurtz, so I gave it a chance.
Yikes!!! I have never seen Miranda and it appears it was inspired by that.
That acting was forced and unnatural. It was too "staged". I enjoy shows more when people move around and communicate as we do in reality. What's with the 4th wall? The canned laughter is horrible. It always has been but when it's practically after every line, no no no!!! I don't need prompting to laugh. If it's not funny, a recording of fake synchronized laughter won't prompt me to. Some of the funniest shows past and present have no track or live audience. Even live audiences can be annoying because, like stand up specials, there is always come cackling cow laughing obnoxiously and you can't "unhear" once it starts!!!!
I'm surprised it was renewed. I'm guessing it's audience (target, at that) is the younger generations because, let's face it, god awful You Tube video subjects like people grossly eating and rating fast food or stupid human stunts garner millions of views, sooooooo, some will watch anything.
Too bad Big Bang didn't run a couple more seasons because Mayim could have kept this off the air!!!!
