This was quite a good christmas film that i enjoyed watching
Most of this film was just ok so i would have given this a five but the ending is really nice so i brought it up to a seven
Would i recommend watching this film? Yes, if you have an extra 40 minutes then you should watch this film

A perfectly functional extraterrestrial Christmas special from veteran US stop-motion family the Chiodos Brothers. The story is a fairly by-the-books "cruel creature learns the meaning of christmas" trope but with a nicely silly extraterrestrial twist and some deft narrative oddities. The real draw here is some fantastic designs and the legitimately stunning animation - you can tell this has been made by craftsmen and it all feels remarkably tactile. If you're in need of some festive cheer or are a fan of the form you'd be missing out by skipping it.

From the director of KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE and executive producer Jon Favreau comes a crazy Christmas story filled with magic, heart and... aliens. Alien Xmas is a vibrantly detailed claymation story that reminds of Selick's work. An out-of-this-world Xmas classic!

Adults - It's a mixed bag!
Teens - It's a mixed bag!
Kids - Will love it! This is definitely geared towards kids!
Maybe - would recommend this movie!
I've got mixed feelings on this one. Only having seen pictures prior to watching this I was expecting 3d animation and not clay animation! Also not sure if this was labeled as a film or TV movie? As a TV movie it works! Just like other classic clay animation X-mas Tv movies. As a film though.. it leaves a lot to be desired!

This movie has VERY distinct bits and pieces of the plot copied from other Christmas movies - I easily recognized things from Polar Express and Dr. Seuss Grinch, plus others. For some people this ^ may just feel super boring or cliche, but the stop-motion was awesome, and the concept was just original enough, so the mirroring of other classics was almost charming actually, not lame.
Nice average addition to throw on the seasonal Short/Special watch-list along with Peanuts, Dr. Seuss Grinch, etc.
Virtually no mention of any religious Christmas themes (jesus birthday, nativity scene, etc).

Is that christmas is about giving gifts. Or, if I remember correctly I think it said, more explicitly, that giving gifts is how you show your love.
On the whole it was cute and amusing, but I'm not a fan of that underlying message.

This is an affable and family-friendly Christmas special/short movie (40 minutes) from stop-motion masters the Chiodo brothers and produced by Elf director John Favreau. The stop-motion animation is impressive, as expected, and the story is uplifting. There are some brief moments of snarky humor but they're just that: funny little asides that ultimately don't detract from the heartfelt story. In other words this isn't entirely cloying and saccharine; but it is also emphatically not an ugly, bitter denunciation of Christmas traditions under the guise of "humor" like HBO's notoriously awful Santa, Inc. Although the 1966 animated version of How The Grinch Stole Christmas (the only version anyone should ever watch) did basically the same moral lesson first and infinitely better, this is still a fun and enjoyable Christmas special.

My kids found this and have watched it at least 10 times in the past 2 days....that means it's good. Some watching a new thing over and over is better than the old things, I like it too. The story makes them laugh and the concept of giving instead of taking/receiving is very sweet.

Alien Xmas follows a group of aliens called the Klepts whose entire society is based upon stealing things. The smallest Klept, named X, is sent on a mission to Earth to destroy earth's gravity and float all Earth's material possessions into space, but an encounter with the elves of Christmas town changes X's outlook and shows him the true meaning of Christmas.
Alien Xmas is a 42 minute animated Christmas special from stop motion animators, The Chiodo Brothers, who've provided effects and animation work on everything from Simpsons, The Thundermans, Elf, and Killer Klowns from Outer Space, and you can tell from their work the put a lot of love into their craft. Alien Xmas, much like the stop motion elements they created for Elf, is very much inspired by the classic Rankin/Bass shorts but with the trio's unique take on the material and I'm pleased to say it works.
While the plot of Alien Xmas is certainly standard Christmas fare that most viewers will be able to predict, the animation, humor, and style of Alien Xmas compliments that familiarity and gives a nice twist to traditional material while also keeping it feeling timeless in its execution. The characters are very expressive in their movements and their actions and the Chiodo brothers create many great locations with some absolutely wonderful details. I really enjoyed this Christmas special and wouldn't mind seeing more if the Chiodos were inclined to do so.

Our three year old absolutely adores this film!
At 40 minutes it's a great film length for younger children, and rather than padding it out with song after song, it relies on the strength of its story.
The animation is lovely, it's funny, heart warming and it's not annoying - which is nice! In fact, I'd go as far to say I really like it too.
I'm really surprised it has got such a low score.

Pretty fun movie and my kids keep asking to watch again. Nice to see real stop motion instead of CGI.

This is an adorable Christmas in peril story with just enough of a sci-fi twist to be fresh and enough of the traditional cheer to fit in with received classics ala Frosty and Rudolph etc.. The alien design-especially their ships-end up being really colorful but archetypical in their design; everything is just so much fun. X is such a cute little guy. Can't wait to spend next year with X again.

Came across this while browsing for things my kids can watch. They absolutely love it!
This film has a wonderful story, told mostly through xcellent narration. The story is very entertaining and has a nice, positive outcome.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Alien Xmas to anyone with small children. The beauty of it is that this isn't like most Christmas stories, although the ending is what you would expect and hope for. A new take on a classic message of giving and being thankful.
There is little negative to say really...
A nice film to enjoy with the whole family. Perfect for that time of year.
Check it out if you haven't already.

"Alien Xmas" follows a race of aliens known as the Klepts. The Kelpts know nothing of giving, only of stealing. And they plan to steal all the stuff on Earth. To do so they send the smallest Klept, named X, down to the North Pole to set up their plan.
It is clear from the setup, exactly what the moral of the story is going to be. There are story beats that feel forced, and others that feel rushed. But the story is not where the short excels, it is undeniably charming.
"Alien Xmas" is animated as if it is a classic Rakin Bass stop motion animated TV Special. This animation style really works for the delivery of this cheesy tale. The story itself is narrated by Santa to a bunch of elf kids. The story feels like it could have been written and illustrated by an elementary school kid. The story may not be anything special, but its delivery and execution was just so sweet and sincere, I could not help but smile as I watched it.
Like a homemade gift from a small child. It may not be technically worth a lot. But they worked so hard on it, and are so excited to give it to you, you hang it up on the fridge and show it off.

This is worth the watch on Netflix and I enjoyed it. What I liked about it was that it used stop-motion animation. The same technique that was used in those Rankin-Bass specials. I like how the character, Obie, the elf, was a nice tribute to Willis O'Brien, the man who animated the title apes in the original versions of KING KONG and MIGHTY JOE YOUNG. Not to mention inspiring the Chiodo Brothers, the men behind this special, get into film-making and animation in the first place. Audiences young and old will enjoy it. It is not annoying.
Give it a watch. You will like it. I guarantee. Merry X-Mas.
