Some aspects of the series are loosely based on Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice', especially the earlier episodes of the first season. Pride and prejudice is a recurring theme of 'Asi', especially between the protagonists Asi and Demir. There is also an episode that resembles the Wickham incident (Gonca and Ziya).
As an homage to Austen, Ceylan Kozcuoglu, played by Dilara Deviren, reads 'Pride and Prejudice' in the finale of the series.
Because of Tomris Giritlioglu, Nur Sürer accepted to play Neriman Kozcuoglu without reading the script.
