Finally I got a chance to watch this project. And even when this production of "Los ilegales" was very brief, Varela did a great job to cover the illegal immigration issue, in a so over exploit subject, this one stands out and makes a point.
Its hard to define what kind of genre it is, I research the internet before posting this comment and I find out that not only its a musical short film documentary, but some critics said its also an experimental music video clip documentary, who knows, but its great.
I also read that they just won an award in Europe and it just came to my mind the well known lack of support from their own country. Mexico NEEDS to recognize the talent of their own people. Why Mexicans they always get support, recognition and win awards abroad, and Mexico, is always the last one to recognize them? I guess for the same reason, they just lost the famous marathon world championship: "Ana Guevara" this year, she finally decided to retire after a long hard way of winning gold medals.
"LOS ILEGALES", Its a MUST SEE, in my opinion, thanks.
