Pan-European indie group Vuelta, which recently bought Telepool in Germany, has completed another strategic acquisition with WW Entertainment, one of Benelux’s largest distributors.
With offices in Amsterdam and in Belgium, WW Entertainment (previously eOne Entertainment Benelux) has consolidated a solid portfolio of local and international titles in the last decade. WW Entertainment’s recent hits include “Loverboy: Emoties Uit,” as well as “Hit Man” and “Bombini Bangkok Nights.”
The acquisition of WW Entertainment gives Vuelta a solid footprint in Benelux, a key European market for theatrical distribution, spreading from Belgium to the Netherlands.
The deal also fits into Vuelta’s strategy to build synergies with some of its other European distribution banners, including Scanbox in Scandinavia, SquareOne/Telepoolin Germany and Pan in France. The latter just scored big in France with the local dramedy “A Little Something Extra” which outperformed Hollywood blockbusters tops this year’s French box office,...

Kate Micucci said Monday that she is cancer-free after having surgery a week ago following a lung cancer diagnosis.
The Big Bang Theory alum took to TikTok over the weekend to thank well-wishers “for of the good wishes and all the love” after revealing her diagnosis.
“I have great news which is that I am cancer-free,” she said Saturday. “The surgery last week went great, all the reports I got back are that it worked out and I don’t need to do any more treatment.”
She also thanked her nurses and doctors for the care and for “figuring [the diagnosis] out early, because I am very very lucky and I know that.”

Last Tuesday, Micucci, 43, shared on TikTok that she underwent lung cancer surgery December 11. She said the diagnosis was a surprise because she’s never smoked. “But I guess it happens, and so the greatest news is they caught it early, they got it out — I’m all good,” she said at the time.
Mucci most recently was cast in a voice role for the upcoming animated Angry Birds Mystery Island TV series. Her other credits include NBC’s Four Kings, Scrubs, Till Death, Raising Hope, Steven Universe, How I Met Your Mother and Malcolm in the Middle, among others. Film credits include The Last Hurrah, Bart Got a Room and When in Rome.
Also an artist and a musician, she and Riki Lindhome comprise the musical comedy duo Garfunkel and Oates.

It’s an interesting month ahead on Hulu, as the streamer rolls out some of the series it’s been keeping in its back pocket for the holiday season.
On December 15, the first season of Such Brave Girls will arrive. The sitcom follows a dysfunctional family – and we mean dysfunctional! – that includes real-life sisters Kat Sadler and Lizzie Davidson. British comedian Sadler has previously written for The News Quiz, Hypothetical, and Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable, but this is her first big TV project. “Everything we joke about in the show is from a place of lived experience,” she told Funny Women. “I wish I could say this is a heart-warming show about overcoming trauma, but that would be a lie. It’s about three toxic, damaged egomaniacs manipulating the world and each other for their own personal gain, vengeance and glory…just like in Little Women.” Sounds good!

Two decades ago, one jilted heart found its way to Italy as part of the iconic, genre-redefining film “Under the Tuscan Sun.” Starring Diane Lane as Frances, a San Francisco writer who jets to Europe after realizing her soon-to-be ex-husband is cheating on her, the 2003 film cemented the early aughts’ obsession with starting over again. “Under the Tuscan Sun” was based on a real-life Frances, author Frances Mayes to be exact, whose memoir was adapted by late writer-director Audrey Wells for the big screen.
Frances, newly jilted and with the emotional support of her best friend Patti (Sandra Oh), escapes both midlife crises and bad American men by traveling across the globe for a luxury vacation. She falls in love with a Tuscan villa and opts to renovate it while bonding with locals, including the seductive Marcello (Raoul Bova).

Josh Duhamel will join the ensemble of the survival thriller “Not Without Hope,” an adaptation of Nick Schuyler and Jere Longman’s best-selling book that will be written and directed by Joe Carnahan. Also joining the cast are JoBeth Williams, Quentin Plair, Terrence Terrell and Marshall Cook.
As previously announced, Zachary Levi (“Shazam!”) is starring in the film, which tells the real-life story of a tragic 2009 boating accident involving Schuyler, his friends Will Bleakley (Cook) and NFL players Marquis Cooper (Plair) and Corey Smith (Terrell). Levi will play Schuyler.
The search-and rescue-operation captivated national attention. Duhamel will portray U.S. Coast Guard Captain Timothy Close, who oversaw a crew that cut through the ocean to try to find the friends who went missing. Carnahan has some experience orchestrating survival tales, having previously directed “The Grey,” which found Liam Neeson battling very hungry wolves after a plane crash stranded his character in a snowy mountain range.

When the ABC sitcom ended in 1995, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen took their talents to the big screen in It Takes Two. However, fans might be shocked to learn that the mansion where the movie was filmed sat vacant for years and was recently destroyed.

With its list of new releases for January 2022, Hulu is raiding CBS’s closet and premiering How I Met Your Father, a continuation of the sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Complaints about unnecessary rebooting aside, perhaps its worth giving the Hillary Duff starring series a chance. Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are teaming up on-screen again, this time for a new one-hour game show entitled “Family Game Fight” for NBC.
The broadcast network has ordered 10 episodes of the new series that will feature Bell and Shepard as both hosts and competitors. Each episode will see Bell and Shepard be “adopted” into individual families of four to compete in a series of games with a big cash prize up for grabs. NBC has not yet announced the specific amount of that cash prize.
“For one of our first dates, I invited Dax over for a game night at my house with a bunch of friends,” Bell said. “He said he fell in love with me there because I was a very tiny person bossing everyone around. I fell in love with him too because he’s a very large person who could boss everyone around, but chooses not to.

"She made her journey peacefully with her daughters and nieces by her side," Lipton's daughters said. "We feel so lucky for every moment we spent with her."
Born in New York on August 30, 1946, Lipton began modelling at age 15. At age 19, she made her television debut on the sitcom "The John Forsythe Show", going on to make appearances on series as "Bewitched", "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour" and "The Virginian".
At 21, Lipton rocketed to fame in 1968 as the street-smart flower child Julie Barnes, one of the undercover "hippie cops" in Los Angeles on the crime series "The Mod Squad".

"That's when it all started to go sideways." Momentum Pictures has debuted an official trailer for a crime comedy titled Finding Steve McQueen, a new film directed by Mark Steven Johnson. Not to be confused with the biopic film about actor Steve McQueen, titled Chasing Bullitt, this film is about some thieves from Ohio and it doesn't really involve the iconic actor. Set in 1972, a gang of close-knit thieves based in Youngstown, Ohio attempt to steal $30 million in illegal contributions and blackmail money from President Richard Nixon's secret fund. All based on a true story, of course. Travis Fimmel (from Warcraft) stars, along with Rachael Taylor, William Fichtner, Forest Whitaker, Lily Rabe, Jake Weary, Rhys Coiro, and Louis Lombardi. This really looks quite boring. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Mark Steven Johnson's Finding Steve McQueen, from YouTube: When an unlikely gang of thieves from Youngstown, Ohio attempt to...

As Hollywood has retreated from the romcom genre, Netflix has flooded the market with its ‘summer of love’ offerings. They seem to be attracting big audiences – but are they any good?
The death knell of the Hollywood romcom has sounded repeatedly over the past few years, as contrived meet-cutes, airport-based declarations of love and Kate Hudson have become conspicuously absent from cinema screens. Its decline has been pinned on various culprits: the disappearance of the mid-budget movie, young actors’ reluctance to star in them and the glut of below-par abominations at the turn of this decade. But whatever the reasons, it is clear that the studio romcom’s heyday is over.
It doesn’t mean people stopped craving warm, fuzzy, slightly dotty depictions of romance. As Hollywood disassembled its romantic machinery, Netflix was keenly observing the viewing habits of its subscribers, and noticed that 80 million of its users had watched...

All couples fight—even Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard. During Tuesday's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Good Place star recalled a quarrel from early on in their relationship. Bell had just finished her 2010 comedy When in Rome and decided to take a trip with Shepard to introduce him to her mother. The two ended up riding a motorcycle from New York to Detroit, and Bell let Shepard pick the music for the first two states. Once they reached the service station, Bell decided to switch the tunes. "Well, he was not happy," she told host Jimmy Kimmel, "because I didn't ask, we didn't discuss it. And it was also like we're both control freaks [in the] beginning of our...

Taking a break from their parental duties, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard hit the beach in Kapalua, Hawaii on Sunday afternoon (March 23).
The “When in Rome” actress and her “Punk’d” husband soaked in the sun and did a little swimming with Kristen’s parents following Ms. Bell’s busy promotional push for the “Veronica Mars” movie.
Speaking of the Kickstarter-funded flick, Kristen told MTV News that depending on how box office numbers shake out, she’d be up for a sequel or four.
Bell declared, "I would just do just about anything. It would great to do a franchise of movies, we have a bit more creativity in film than we do on television. But if one day it comes back as some sort of a series, I would be involved as well."

There’s a rare breed of television show that makes the leap into becoming a feature film. Most have been paint-by-numbers modernizations, desecrating the source material, while others are made-for-television productions that waited too long for some type of forced reunion. So what happens when Veronica Mars, a cult TV show that aired on the Upn/CW gets a second chance to say, ‘thanks’ through a crowd-sourced film, seven years after if left the air?
The fate of the Veronica Mars Movie was placed in the Mars diehards, dubbed “marshmallows” with bleeding hearts. Over 90,000 financiers banded together and raised $5.7 million, nearly three times the original goal (prompting Warner Bros. to pitch in too). Not only was that a carnival-like event on the internet, it gave hope to every TV show that was ever cancelled. I can assure each and every Kickstarter who contributed to this film that their money was well spent.

After six years dating, and pursuing each other, both on and off camera, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard have reportedly gotten married, and in nonchalant fashion, to boot!
The “When in Rome” celebrity couple meant to register for their marriage license at a Beverly Hills county clerk’s office today (October 17), but when a court employee offered to marry them on the spot, they agreed, conducting the ceremony in a nearby courtroom.
Kristen actually once discussed her preference for a courthouse marriage in the past, saying, "I feel like we get enough attention in our daily lives and we just want something sort of private that involves pen and paper."
Dax proposed to Kristen in June of this year, after celebrating the U.S. Supreme Court striking down of the gay marriage ban. At this time neither of pair's reps have commented on the news.
