A six part, explosive series, Jed Mecurio, Vicky McClure, this should, on paper, be brilliant......
For such a pedigree, this series was sadly, a real disappointment. If you're anything like me, you'll see the name Jed Mecurio, and get pretty excited, sadly this one just didn't land. It's not all bad, but sadly it's a real disappointment.
On the plus side, it looks nice, it's incredibly well filmed, it's slick, and the action scenes and explosives are impressive, Vicky McClure is excellent, and in fairness the first episode is rather good.
Unfortunately, it just runs out of steam very quickly, the tension feels forced, the plot is wafer thin, the eventual outcome just doesn't work. The characters lack any degree of depth, Lana apart, it's so hard to warm to any of them. Some of the acting is a little patchy in parts.
If you're desperate to watch it, you could quite easily watch parts one and six, as virtually nothing happens in the rest of it.
It was a ratings winner, and it was obvious that series two would follow, hopefully they do it a little better when it returns. 6/10.

Firstly i want to defend the show, most people reviewing who are moaning about it being unrealistic when it comes to the policing side of things like no sh@t....its a tv show with certain time per episode so they're not going to go all into detail and start breaking out real protocols bomb squads follow...also the key to being good at bomb squad is not to show a bunch of actors what they do so they can show everyone including potential threats! Same for anti terrorism they wont give away any details to tv shows which is true....hence why hardly any help was given to the show by real bomb squads or special police groups...what was people expecting to tune in and see Vicky McClure kitted up doing the death walk like we're watching the Hurt Locker movie?
What i will say and fully agree with is the language and silly decisions the characters make, firstly screaming the F word didn't build tension it just came off bad and makes no sense to scream at someone panicking..also bomb squads would not have a thin police vest and some goggles to deal with bombs...they'll have full on body covered plating with not a bit of skin in sight!
Its not like the line of duty where they can ask for police inside help with the show as everything on the show is not revealing but when it comes to shows about terrorism of course they wont help the show so i dont expect it to be realistic at all, worth the watch but yeah dont expect realism!

I do not understand all the negative comments here. Maybe if you work for a bomb squad this is not realistic but I thought right from the very first episode, this was great action tv. I did suspect who the person was but then, you are not sure. Great actors, real fast pace drama. Loved it.

True, Vicky McClure is talented and she has had several pleasant roles and performances in thriller series (e.g. Line of Duty, Broadchurch), but in a teamwork - as modern sophisticated crimes are not solved by a single individual any more.
Well, Lana Washington is part of a team as well, even a leader, but the camera is too much on her and even her co-workers are some gophers around that you hardly remember their faces... The plot has its twists, but the outcome is often airy-fairy - as even laymen know how widespread and thorough are nowadays security (background) checks. The creators have evidently also thought that dedicating many minutes for defusing a bomb is thrilling to most of viewers - in fact, it is rather boring and protracting as it is unlikely that the leading character gets killed...
In general, Trigger Point is more than average, but not much - for a British series.

I wasn't sure at the start but I stuck with it and it improved over the other episodes. I was in bits when Lana couldn't let go at the end. Loved Vicky dropping in local phrases e.g. "don't be mardy" for Lana, that's proper East Mids talk! - it made me smile.

Ok, some of the acting was a bit stiff, but it is, after all acting.
Adrian lester led this superbly, then it dropped off a bit. Definitely worth a watch.

Only two episodes in and it's building nicely so far, but it's worth it just for the fact that it's triggering so many people for casting a woman and a black man in the leading roles.
If nothing else, it's worth it succeeding just for that.

The same bugbear as usual unfortunately - an enormous amount of money spent on this series, but you still cannot hear all the dialogue, people mutter without moving their lips. Very frustrating to anyone with even a slight hearing impairment. This can easily be fixed, but tv production companies seem to be unable to understand how to record spoken sound properly. I watched a 1950s film on tv earlier and could every word clear as a bell. Just fix it!
Really impressed with this show! It's well done and super tense! The characters are credible and do a great job! The story line is quite believable especially in terms of world events... scarily realistic to be honest! The lead actress Vicki McClure commands the screen! I loved her in Line of Duty, and she certainly doesn't disappoint here! Looking forward to another season!
This is mostly about TP season 2. Its the kind of show popular with a generation that is only half-watching as they surf social media with the TV on in the background. It's a not a one star because they did make an effort and there are explosion's!
You'd find more depth in a saucer full of milk, WWE is more realistic and the plot holes are big enough that it would be fair to expect an event horizon...but apart from that it's okay...if you're half-watching.
It's not Vicky Mcclures fault, she does her best with a bumpy story line and woeful script, but some of her co-stars are so limited that you can only presume the auditions were held at the same time as a remake of 'Footballers Wives the Reunion' were hiring and the early rejects got to the trigger point casting couch just in time to get signed up.
To be fair even your favourite streamer has that bit for ads and 'like, comments, subscribes' so feel free to enjoy TP2 in those moments.

It was good but the writing was a bit naff. It's been renewed for season 2 and it would benefit from more depth and character development.
I liked the different bomb disposal scenes and the explosions that did happen were impressive for a TV budget.
The reveal of the culprit wasn't at all surprising but I thought it was a good and robust finale overall.

Slow start, but looks promising. Like others to begin with it seemed to not be as good as the cast involved should make it.
Keep with it and you won't be disappointed, looking forward to the next episode.
What a great cliffhanger ending.

It had its plot issues, but can't fault how Trigger Point kept ramping up the tension. Loved the friendship between Lana and Sonya and I look forward to seeing them in the next series. We also need more of Danny! But Lana hun, you don't have to sort out every bomb yourself!

I could watch Vicky McClure on the TV all day I think she's one of Britain's best actresses and she holds all this together. There will always be those writing a 1* comment after 5 minutes of episode 1 in a desperate attempt to get noticed. Of course there is creative license but so what - it's still a good watch if you don't analyse every single detail.

This isn't Oscar worthy and some of the plot isn't 100% realistic or believable. But it is an enjoyable watch and definitely more exciting than some of the higher rated SLOW and BORING shows which drag a storyline over multiple episodes.

I don't know about you but I've watched a whole shedload of UK based police dramas and once you learn pretty much anything about how the police have to obey rules, and that there's a methodology to police work, then you get a sense of when something is well written, even though it may be unrealistic.
But this...this.. is just unbelievable in almost every respect.
Countless times it sacrifices any sort of realism for cheap thrills and although I watched it until the end, then that was more because I was laughing at it rather than admiring it.
If you're looking for a reasonably well acted drama but with a mediocre script and an absurd sense of "turn it up to 11" plot where you need constant stimulation then this is for you.
4/10 is about right since it held my attention enough to watch until the end, but it's below average for this sort of production.

...and I'm enjoying it it's definitely getting better. A lot of the reviews on here are from bigots who watched 10 minutes of episode 1 so make up your own mind about it.

I can't believe the appalling and unfair reviews written here, some people have an agenda. It's no Line of Duty but is better than average with an excellent cast and scripts which build tension. There are some scenes which stretch credulity but it was engaging throughout. Reviews are in the eye of the beholder. How can people give this 1/10 and score Reacher10/10 when the Jack Reacher actor displays the acting ability of a mannequin.
Ignore the bad reviews and give it a go. It obviously makes some people feel good to trash a show when it doesn't deserve to be trashed.

As a huge fan of Line of Duty, I was really looking forward to this one. Unfortunately, the entire show consists of dull interoffice politics, unnecessary personal "drama," and bomb-related scenes that are completely lacking in any kind of tension. Such a letdown.

1st- not everyone has worked in a bomb disposal squad or police unit. Stop putting people off because it didn't mimic your working day.
2nd - For the same people calling it rubbish because the armed police and bomb disposal squad don't work in the exact way as the show- ITS A DRAMA NOT A DOCUMENTARY. They worked with ex personnel during filming but of course, they have to enhance the experience for the viewer.
The first episode is full of suspense, a build up of backstory and multiple "scares". The story seems like it will develop as there will be a theme or the same group involved.
