Melissa Gilbert turns 59 today on Monday May 8, 2023. Best known for playing Laura Ingalls in Little House on the Prairie in the ‘70s and early ‘80s, Gilbert’s life looks a lot different these days. She’s hung up her Hollywood heels for a pair of boots she can get dirty in the chicken coop. Her birthday this year fits in perfectly with her new life. “This is heaven,” she said of the day.

David Koechner has become a ubiquitous presence in comedy films over the last ten years, from "Anchorman" and "The 40 Year-Old Virgin" to "Waiting ..." and "Get Smart." He recently played a detective in the offbeat ensemble comedy "Small Apartments," with Matt Lucas and Billy Crystal.
He currently stars in "Full On Koechner," a YouTube-based web series in partnership with Official Comedy and found at Koechner's YouTube channel.
Koechner recently spoke with us about tighty-whities, Malcolm Gladwell and becoming Champ Kind again.
"Small Apartments" is probably the darkest movie I've ever laughed out loud at in my life. What were your emotions while reading the script for the first time?
[laughs] Yeah, there's some oddity to it, which I like. Did you ever see a movie called "Man Bites Dog"?
I've heard of "Man Bites Dog," but have never seen it.

Professionally speaking, Luke Wilson has been in a bit of a rut. It.s not that he hasn.t worked. He has. It.s more like no one has bothered to go see his last few films, from Death at a Funeral or Middle Men to something called Tenure and another something called Blonde Ambition. Is that a spin-off from the Legally Blonde franchise that we.re just now hearing about? Maybe Million Dollar Man will get Wilson back on track . or at least, back up to the level his brother, Owen, appears to be operating on. Variety.s ShowBlitz says Million Dollar will be an indie sports comedy that casts Wilson as a down-and-out route driver for a soda company who gets one last shot to put his life back on the right path when he goes out for a kicking gig on a football team. Needless to say,...

Nucky Thompson has new challenges as he struggles to keep control of Atlantic City in the second season of HBO’s Emmy Award-winning Boardwalk Empire.
Steve Buscemi (The Big Lebowski) headlines the television series as Enoch “Nucky” Thompson, who’s the target of an investigation for voter fraud, has the chance of going to jail and is facing insurrection by those he considers his closest allies.
In season two, with the Kkk attacking the bootleg warehouse, Nucky’s hold on Atlantic City is weakening, and many mobsters, including Arnold Rothstein (Michael Stuhlbarg, Hugo), Lucky Luciano (Vincent Piazza, TV’s Rescue Me), Meyer Lansky (Anatol Yusef, The Gathering) and Al Capone (Stephen Graham, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), are in the wings ready to take over.

Wentworth Miller, best known for his Prison Break role, has signed up to play the lead in an upcoming Mike Million‘s project titled Analog.
The project is already being described as “indie dramedy” and Million will direct from his own screenplay, which appeared on the Black List in 2005.
Miller joins the film which will follow an introverted genius who tries to find a love connection in an increasingly digital world.
That’s basically all we know about the project at this moment, beside the fact that Analog is budgeted at around $3 million and that Brendan McDonald is in charge for producing.
But let me remind you that last year Million revealed:
“When I wrote “Analog,” it was the first success that I had with scriptwriting in Hollywood. Everyone liked it. It was a great entry into the business. For me. But one of the things that happens when you write an interesting,...

Even after the series which he was the star of, Prison Break, was canceled in 2009, Wentworth Miller has managed to build a career for himself outside of the TV screen. Not only is his original script Stoker being directed by Park Chan-wook, but BrightenYourScreen (via ComingSoon) tells us that he’s signed on to star in the indie dramedy Analog, from writer and director Mike Million.
The script follows a young man (Miller), who is “an introverted genius who tries to find a love connection in an increasingly digital world,” hence the title. Shooting begins this summer in Michigan. Million, whose name makes me think he used to be a professional wrestler, previously made Tenure and is said to have done a re-write of Paul Haggis‘ script Honeymoon with Harry. Not many more details have been given out at this time, but stick around for when more come in.

Prison Break star Wentworth Miller is set to star in a independent comedy-drama called Analog. The movie is being directed by Mike Million (Tenure) from a screenplay that he wrote. The story follows an introverted genius who tries to find a love connection in an increasingly digital world. I take it he doesn't use E-Harmony. The film has a budget of $3 million dollars and will shoot this summer in Michigan.

English-born, American actor Wentworth Miller has just signed on to star in the indie drama Analog.
Based on a script written by Mike Million that appeared on the 2005 Black List, the story is about an introverted genius who struggles to find love in this growing digital world.
Producer Brendan McDonald, whose other productions include the Luke Wilson comedy Tenure and the Irish indie The Runway, was able to scrape together 3 million dollars so far for the project and expects to film in Michigan this summer.
Princeton educated Miller may be joining the Black List ranks with Millions. It seems the former Prison Break star has been moonlighting as a screenwriter and using the pseudonym Ted Foulke. His drama Stoker has attracted Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth and director Chan-wook Park.
Looks like that ivy league education is paying off!

For Sasha Alexander, film affords more opportunities for acting risks than episodic TV. The former provides a single dose of a self-contained universe, whereas with recurring roles on the small screen, one "has to create a three-dimensional character that audiences are going to want to watch each week. You don't have a beginning, middle, and end. You may have some basic idea where the character is going and you may not." Backstories emerge sporadically, if at all, she adds: "You're leaving little crumbs for the audience. It can be frustrating." Alexander knows something about episodic TV, having appeared on "NCIS," "Dawson's Creek," and "Presidio Med." She is currently tackling medical examiner Maura Isles on "Rizzoli & Isles," a new TNT police drama based on the novels of Tess Gerritsen and co-starring Angie Harmon as blue-collar detective Jane Rizzoli. By contrast, Isles has a wealthy family and a posh education. "I like...

I like Luke Wilson. In fact, I’m willing to completely overlook those wretched cell phone commercials because I know the guy is capable of better things. For instance, writer/director Mike Million’s 2009 comedy “Tenure” looks pretty amusing, mostly because I’m willing to give anything with Wilson and co-star David Koechner a spin in the ol’ digital video disc player without a second thought. The film follows a college professor’s attempt to secure tenure, a venture that is thrust into jeopardy when a beautiful new candidate enters the picture. I’m getting a strong “Election” vibe from the trailer, which, of course, is a good thing. “Tenure” will arrive on DVD this April, so be sure to finalize your schedule beforehand.

The 16th annual Austin Film Festival opened with a true screenwriting gem, Serious Moonlight. Penned by the late Adrienne Shelley around the same time she created Waitress – Shelley was murdered shortly after wrapping Waitress, before she had the opportunity to direct Serious Moonlight. I loved Waitress, and have been a fan of Adrienne Shelley since seeing her act in Hal Hartley’s The Unbelievable Truth and Trust. Serious Moonlight | Review "...the script is chock-full of clever Hitchcockian twists along with a impeccably strong (and mysterious) conclusion. Serious Moonlight is very conservatively directed by first-timer Cheryl Hines (who acted in Waitress with Shelley)." ____________________________________________________ I have long been curious about C.D. Payne’s 1993 epistolary novel Youth in Revolt: The Journals of Nick Twisp, and unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to read it prior to the Aff screening of Miguel Arteta’s film. Nonetheless, into the Paramount I went… I must...

There is a good reason Hollywood continually makes Animal House wannabes and avoids producing films that actually focus on academia. Kids prefer their college movies to be about the fun stuff. And so a movie like Old School grossed $75 million while another Luke Wilson comedy called Tenure currently lacks a distributor. The latter film may also be hilarious, as a satire of the tenure process, but if it doesn’t concentrate more on beer bongs and naked co-eds, it won’t attract as big an audience. And according to some scholars, it may not even resonate with them, because it couldn’t possibly be what the process is really like. Sooner or later our favorite TV shows all come to an end and the cast and crew all go their separate ways. If we're lucky, our favorite performers return in new shows and movies. Here's where you'll be able to see some of them.
