Last week, Max finally released the trailer for their much-anticipated The Batman spin-off series, The Penguin, teeing up its fall release date. Overall, it looks highly reminiscent of Matt Reeves’ film, with the cinematography very much in the Grieg Fraser mode. But what else do we know about The Penguin? More than you may think.

The plot of The Penguin is set to follow the title character, once again portrayed by Colin Farrell, as he rises through the ranks of the Gotham City criminal underworld. After the events of The Batman and the flooding of Gotham, including the death of Carmine Falcone, Cobblepot desperately wants to fill the power vacuum. Colin Farrell has also indicated that the film will serve as an origin story for the Penguin, something we have seen twice on screen before in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns, played by Danny DeVito.

Paramount is developing a remake of the classic ’80s comedy “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” that will star Kevin Hart and Will Smith, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

Hart and Smith will also produce the remake of the 1987 film that starred Steve Martin and John Candy, and Aeysha Carr, who has worked on “Brooklyn Nine Nine” and the upcoming Hulu series “Woke,” will write the screenplay as her debut feature film.

John Hughes directed the original film that was the story of two men fighting the elements and each other in order to get home for the holidays. The new film will be a modern update of the original that will star Smith and Hart as the oil-and-water duo. The original film is famous for the late John Candy’s performance as a wholesome but irritating shower curtain ring salesman and a legendarily profane tirade from Martin.

Shaun Grant, Jason Smilovic, Kai Wu, Stuart Beattie and Sarah Heyward are mentoring 14 emerging creators in Impact Australia, the offshoot of Us Imagine Impact founded by Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and Tyler Mitchell.

Supported by Gentle Giant Media Group and Screen Australia, the inaugural eight-week accelerator program for creative storytellers from across Australia was originally slated to be held in Melbourne.

Due to Covid-19 it is now being held as a virtual program, with a twice-weekly speaker series. It will culminate in Pitch Day, hoped to take place in Melbourne in late 2020, with the ultimate goal of the creators selling their projects.

Kevin Hart found a new meaning to life after the horrific car accident earlier this year, which left him hospitalised. The actor-comedian says he has realised that nothing in life is guaranteed, and that makes him stay "more present" for his family and friends.

The superhero movie genre is getting Kevin Hart comedy Night Wolf, which comes from the writers of Detective Pikachu.

Night Wolf is joining the seemingly-ceaseless deluge of superhero cinema, with Kevin Hart set to star-in and produce the comedic cinematic genre offering.

STXfilms announced its acquisition of the script to Night Wolf, which is being described as a “high concept comic superhero” offering. The early details of the plot describe a scenario that’s initially akin to Meet the Parents, in which a man (Hart) meets his prospective father-in-law, eventually discovering the secret that he’s the film’s eponymous superhero, the Night Wolf.

Charlie Puth stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to hawk fake covers albums titled Charlie Puth Sings ’90s Punk and Charlie Puth Sings Spice Girls. In the process, the “Attention” singer performed piano ballad versions of songs by Blink-182 and Lit.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Skydance Productions, which is owned by David Ellison, is currently shopping around a TV series remake of the Sydney Pollack classic, written by Jason Smilovic and Todd Katzberg. Milligan, who died in December of 2014, was charged with robbery and raping three women on the Ohio State University campus in the 1970s. While preparing his defense, Milligan was diagnosed with multiple personality disorder. Chicago – 2015 may prove to be huge year for the actress, model and young adult author Bella Thorne. The 17-year-old has many irons in the fire, including roles in several upcoming films this new year. The author in her was in Chicagoland last November, appearing at Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville, Ill., on behalf of her new novel in the “Autumn Falls.”

Annabelle Avery “Bella” Thorne was born in Florida, and began her career as a child and teen model. After expanding into acting, Thorne got her first big break in the TV series “My Own Worst Enemy” (2008). After doing some independent films, she got the lead in the Disney Channel series, “Shake it Up,” portraying CeCe Jones. Art imitated life for that show, because Thorne’s character had dyslexia, a condition that Thorne shares with the character in her real life.

Christian Slater has signed on to USA Network’s upcoming hacker thriller serial, Mr. Robot. Nabbing the titular role, Slater will topline his first show after his star turn in ABC’s Mind Games.

Before we address who exactly Slater’s character is, let’s take a look at the show’s premise. Thanks to Deadline, we’ve got a decent amount of detailed story information that has piqued our interest. It’s a surprise that there’s still such interest in hacking, especially since it’s unlikely any series or movie could ever better 1995’s Hackers.

The Mind Games and Breaking In alum has landed the title role in USA Network’s cyber-crime pilot, which centers on a mysterious anarchist (Slater) who recruits a brilliant cyber security engineer (24‘s Rami Malek) into an underground hacker organization intent on bringing down corporate America.

The potential series also stars Portia Doubleday (Her), Carly Chaikin (Suburgatory) and Martin Wallström (Simple Simon).

Slater’s TV credits also include a turn as a literal robot: In NBC’s short-lived My Own Worst Enemy, he played a secret agent implanted with a dual-personality-triggering computer chip.

TNT is looking to shake things up with a development order for “1906,” a proposed four-hour event series about the San Francisco earthquake that took place in that year, multiple individuals have told TheWrap. A co-production from Landscape Entertainment and eOne, “1906” will be executive produced by Bob Cooper (“Amistad,” “John Tucker Must Die”) and Tyler Mitchell (“The Incredible Burt Wonderstone,” “My Own Worst Enemy”). Landscape's director of development Sandy Shenkman is overseeing the project. Network television’s new fall season kicks off today, officially ushering in the arrival of a couple dozen shiny new series. Annabelle Avery “Bella” Thorne was born in Florida, and first dipped her toe in show business as a child and teen model. After expanding into acting, Thorne got her first big break in the TV series “My Own Worst Enemy” (2008). After doing some independent films, she got the lead in the Disney Channel series, “Shake it Up,” portraying CeCe Jones. Art imitated life for that show, because Thorne’s character had dyslexia, a condition that Thorne herself has in real life.

It has been another short network TV run for Kyle Killen.  On Thursday (March 27) afternoon, ABC pulled "Mind Games" effective immediately. That's what happens when you draw 2.06 million viewers and do a 0.7 rating among adults 18-49. Those were the numbers for this past Tuesday's airing of "Mind Games" and they proved to much for ABC to bear, especially with plenty of inventory on the shelf. On April 1 and April 8, ABC will air encores of "Resurrection" in the Tuesday 10 p.m. hour. Then, starting on April 15, ABC will premiere a new season of "Celebrity Wife Swap," with Daniel Baldwin and Jermaine Jackson claiming to be celebrities in the premiere. Landscape Entertainment has promoted Tyler Mitchell to Partner and has extended its first-look deal with Entertainment One Television through 2015, the company said today. In his new role, Mitchell will oversee both Landscape’s film and television slates, with projects in active development at Warner Bros., Disney, New Regency, HBO, Fox, Wgn, TNT, and USA. Under their first look deal with eOne Television, Landscape will continue to develop and produce projects targeted primarily for cable. Mitchell joined Landscape in 2011 as Head of Feature Film, working as a producer on several pics including The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, Lucky Number Sleven and most recently The Angriest Man In Brooklyn set for release later this year. Exclusive: Veteran drama showrunner John Eisendrath has signed a new two-year overall deal with Sony Pictures Television. Under his previous overall pact with Sony, Eisendrath most recently helped develop Jon Bokenkamp’s drama project The Blacklist for NBC and served as executive producer/showrunner on the pilot. He continues as executive producer/showrunner on The Blacklist, which was picked up to series after the pilot became NBC’s best testing pilot in 10 years and landed the network’s best slot on the fall schedule, behind The Voice on Monday. ICM Partners-repped Eisendrath created and exec produced the praised 2003 Espn drama series Playmakers. He also served as executive producer/showrunner on NBC’s Outlaw and My Own Worst Enemy and executive produced ABC’s Alias, Fox’s Beverly Hills, 90210 and the WB’s Felicity.

The new fall season is closer than you think, and NBC has released their full schedule. Apart from reality favorites The Biggest Loser and The Voice, they are mixing things up quite a bit.

First things first, don’t mistake Bella Thorne for Bella Swan. Thorne is the real life actress known for her work on Disney’s Shake It Up. She doesn’t have anything in common with the character Bella Swan from Twilight that I know of, however, she’s about to have a thing or two in common with author Stephenie Meyer. Thorne just closed a deal to co-write a multi-book Ya fantasy series called Autumn Falls.

The news of Thorne’s deal with the publisher Random House Children’s Books, follows worde yesterday that How I Met Your Mother actor Jason Segel has inked a three-book deal to write a children’s series as well.

Thorne’s series illustrated the life of a 14-year-old girl whose life is forever changed after an “encounter with magic”, explained THR.

Christian Slater is taking a stab at TV once again with a Kyle Killen pilot. According to TVLine, Slater will star in "Influence," Killen's latest TV drama project.

Slater will star opposite Steve Zahn in the drama about two brothers who head up an agency that uses the science of human motivation and manipulation to solve problems. Slater will play Ross, a schemer and ladies man who recently got out of prison.

This is Slater's fourth go-round at a network series in recent years. His previous credits include "Breaking In," "The Forgotten" and "My Own Worst Enemy."

Killen is the brain behind "Lone Star" and "Awake."

Josh Lucas and Lynn Collins will star in A&E's "Occult." The pilot, produced by Michael Bay, follows an FBI agent (Lucas) who returns from leave after investigating his wife's disappearance. Collins plays his new partner who specializes in occult matters.
