Paramount Global has been in the deal news with its big merger with David Ellison’s Skydance Media. But on Wednesday, two of the company’s kids brands unveiled a deal of their own. Nickelodeon unveiled new animated series Tim Rex in Space, its first global co-production with Channel 5’s Milkshake!
The show will premiere in 2025 on Nickelodeon channels in the U.S. and internationally, as well as on Milkshake! in the U.K.
Tim Rex in Space follows a Tyrannosaurus Rex (T-Rex) named Tim, his big brother Tommy, little sister Tia, and triceratops bestie Kai as “they tackle kid-shaped adventures with dino-sized solutions in space,” according to a show description. “Tim and his family live in a unique world comprised of a cluster of asteroids that make up the town of Rumbleton. Sharkdog is an animated series for children created by Jacinth Tan.
Tibucan is a dog, a shark… and at the same time he talks. There’s a bit of everything in this simple idea created especially for children.
Maybe the animation is not at Pixar’s level, maybe the stories are not enough to reflect on the transience of space-time or maybe the machines will end up with humanity, but what is also certain is that with Tibucan parents have the perfect excuse to take a little break from the little ones and earn that well-deserved rest.
They’ve earned it!

So many great stories in history start out with the key players hating each other — as it is in Netflix and A24’s “Beef,” streaming on Netflix in April. Amy (Ali Wong) and Danny (Steven Yeun) meet via parking lot bump turned action-movie car chase, their lives connecting and their road rage lingering in weeks and months after the incident. In reviewing the series, IndieWire’s Ben Travers said that “’Beef’ does a fine job balancing Amy and Danny’s practical intelligence and impractical passions; their bitterness toward the other driver ebbs and flows as their personal lives better or worsen, and it’s in these moments that the half-hour drama thrives.”

Don’t know if you’ve heard but Netflix is doing pretty well with their local language releases. Now, with its list of new releases for September 2021, Netflix is leading with one of its biggest international hits.
Season 5 of the worldwide smash Money Heist is set to premiere its first half on Sept. 3. This Spanish series (called La Casa de Papel in its native tongue) about a group of geographically-named thieves found new life on Netflix to become a global phenomenon. Other international series of note this month include Sex Education and Jaguar.
Netflix’s roster of originals in September 2021 is pretty packed even beyond that. The final season of Lucifer premieres on Sept. 10. That will be followed by He-Man and the Masters of the Universe on Sept. 16 (not to be confused with Masters of the Universe: Revelation) and Mike Flanagan’s next horror series, Midnight Mass, on Sept. 24.
