Francis Ford Coppola knew to include in Apocalypse Now (1979) a scene in which Colonel Kurtz (Marlon Brando) reads parts of Eliot’s The Hollow Men, that in the epigraph (“Mistah Kurtz – he dead”) quotes Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, the basis of the film. Dennis Hopper, playing the photojournalist, paraphrases the poem’s famous last line.

I was surprised that Devil Beneath managed to stealthily fly under my radar, I’m a fan of both monster movies and of writer/director Luke Sparke. It took me about five minutes to realize why I hadn’t heard anything about it, it’s not a new movie.
Devil Beneath is Sparke’s first feature Red Billabong, which he shot in 2016, edited down from an hour and fifty-three minutes to an hour and a half and given a new score. While I was disappointed that it wasn’t a new film, I had been meaning to rewatch Red Billabong since the Occupation films were released but never got around to it. The producers of Comedy feature film The Heckler have embraced new Australian on-demand cinema platform tugg.com in a bid get their movie on the big screen..
The new distribution model allows filmmakers to book any cinema, any time as long as there are enough people interested in watching that film at that session. .
The Heckler will now be launched in an initial round of on-demand cinema screenings and the team behind the movies are hoping that positive word-of-mouth fuels more screenings.
Writer/Producer Steve Mitchell said a traditional cinema release required a massive amount of advertising to succeed..
"Films like ours can.t afford that and so we rely solely on word-of-mouth," he said..
"And that takes time to build. By staging one-off event screenings at various locations over a longer period, we.re hoping to build momentum without spending a fortune on marketing..

Australian actor-writer-director Bille Brown, who performed on Broadway and the West End and in the films Killer Elite, The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader and Fierce Creatures, died Sunday in a Brisbane hospital. He was 61 and had been battling bowel cancer. William “Bille” Brown began his career in the early 1970s at the Queensland Theater Company with Geoffrey Rush, among others. In 1976 he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company and appeared in productions at London’s Aldwych and Haymarket Theaters and with the Chichester Festival Theater and English National Opera. He had two further engagements with the RSC, from 1986–88 and 1994–96. He was an artist-in-residence at the State University of New York in 1982 and made his Broadway debut in 1986 in Michael Frayn’s Wild Honey with Ian McKellen. Working Dog.s latest project . following the incredibly popular past hits The Castle and The Dish . grossed a disappointing $302,421 from 235 screens over the weekend, earning it a screen average of just $1287. Last weekend it opened with $608,731.
Distributor Roadshow kept Any Questions for Ben? on 235 screens . the same as opening weekend . however, the film failed to generate positive word-of-mouth while negative reviews also did not help its cause.
The film, also starring Rachael Taylor and Daniel Henshall, follows Ben (Lawson) who suffers a quarter-life crisis after being asked to speak at his school.s career night. Sitch directed the comedy and co-wrote along with Tom Gleisner (The Hollowmen, Russell Coight.s All Aussie Adventures) and Santo Cilauro (Frontline, Thank God You.re Here).

The Kath and Kim cast and crew have returned to Melbourne. Gina Riley and Jane Turner, the creators and leading ladies of the Australian comedy television show, had been shooting scenes for the upcoming film in Venice. However, production has now relocated to Victoria. According to the Herald Sun, Turner and Riley were spotted in Italy alongside cast members Magda Szubanski, Glenn Robbins and Peter Rowsthorn during the three-week shoot. They are also believed to have filmed several scenes with Withnail and I star Richard E Grant before he travels to Melbourne to complete his character's storyline.
