Casting choices for Lifetime's Aaliyah biopic are once again under attack. Cries of Hollywood colorism were made after TheWrap reported who had been cast in the roles of Aaliyah's mentors, rapper-producers Missy Elliott and Timbaland, on Saturday. The duo worked with Aaliyah on her second album, “One In A Million,” which sold 3.7 million copies in the United States and more than eight million copies worldwide. Now under the microscope, Canadian singer and dancer Chattrisse Dolabaille will play Missy Elliott while “So You Think You Can Dance Canada” alum Izaak Smith has been chosen to play Timbaland. You can say whatever you want about City and Colour's Dallas Green and his music. But he's had enough with the online attacks on his wife, TV personality Leah Miller.
Green has written a song in response to the "amateur commentators" who hide behind anonymous comments about Miller. The track, "Commentators," appears on his brand-new album "The Hurry and the Harm."
"It's a response to lazy journalism and faceless commentating that exists in our day and age," says Green. "Not on me, on my wife. I wrote the first verse on a particularly bad night of her reading things on the internet that she shouldn't. I try to get her not to, but she does, because she's human. The other day Leah was saying to me, 'I got a really nice tweet today. The person wrote 'I hate you.' That kind of stuff makes me think, 'what is happening in this world?...

"So You Think You Can Dance" speaks for itself. Actually, scratch that. "Sytycd" is so much more. I think it's easy to pass off the dance competition series as just another reality show but, really, it's anything but. There's only a bit of cheese, the talent is remarkable, and the moments are emotional and unforgettable. This isn't a dance show that centres on random celebrities with sexy pros (not that there's anything wrong with that), but "Sytycd" showcases the best of the best (at least, for this season, the show's ninth) and there's simply nothing like it.
For the most part, "Sytycd" can do no wrong -- though, admittedly, I'm not a fan of famous guest judges just for the sake of their celebrity, so when the third spot on the panel is given to someone unqualified, it's definitely a fast-forward moment (I love Zooey Deschanel and "New Girl" ranks among one of my favourites,...

2011 was a pretty big year for the TV world in general. Oprah said farewell to her beloved daytime chatfest. Regis bid adieu to mornings with Kelly and Gelman. And Kim Kardashian broadcast her "fairytale" wedding for all the world to bask in. Here in Canada, we had some pretty memorable small screen moments of our own.
Perhaps most notably, our Canuck quest for global TV domination continued to gain momentum with homegrown shows like "Rookie Blue,""Todd and the Book of Pure Evil,""Lost Girl" and "Republic of Doyle" steadily growing their international audiences around the world (and we also reinforced the global stereotype that Canadians are an attractive bunch, with the likes of Anna Silk, Missy Peregrym and Allan Hawco representing us on the world stage).
Since it’s that time of year (yes, list time), we've compiled a list of the top 11 most memorable moments in Canadian TV this year.

The elimination process narrowed the competition down to 22 contestants on the reality show So You Think You Can Dance Canada, which just entered in its fourth season. However, Winnipeg's Moses Leyco (photo) had to ice himself following an injury.
During yesterday's show in which the Top 22 had to perform, 26-year-old Leyco revealed that he had sustained a shoulder ligament injury from the rehearsals to the performance show.
This is why the first Manitoban contestant in So You Think You Can Dance Canada's history will be replaced by Adam Asselin-Rioux (photo), a 21-year-old contemporary dancer from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC.
This decision was made, because of all the eliminated contestants so far, Adam Asselin-Rioux came close to being in the Top 22.

She has to make a choice between living her dream as a profesional dancer or taking the path imposed by her parents, which means studying medecine. However, her encounter with Marc Painchaud (Nico Archambault) will give her hope. In fact, she'll take part in more and more auditions and she'll stand up before her parents.
Nico Archambault, the season 1 winner of So You Think You Can Dance Canada, will take part in the choreography of the dance scene.
This film was penned by Caroline Héroux (À vos marques, party!) and was entirely produced with private funds.

Morgan Muscat is the producer behind Severance (2010) starring Ash Catherwood. Originally, Morgan Muscat started out working as a production assistant (a job that he still does here and there) climbing his way up the ladder. He also bought the rights to the Stephen King short story "Suffer The Little Children" which he plans to produce into a short future starring Astrida Auza. We took a min. out to ask Morgan a few questions, here is what he had to say.
So who is Morgan Muscat and what is he all about?
I’m an independent filmmaker based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada and I write and produce short films and mini documentaries under my small production company, Moonlit Road Entertainment, which I formed in 2005. In 2008, I graduated with honors from the Media Arts program at Sheridan College and have since been working steadily in the industry, working on personal independent projects as well as mainstream productions.

According to Nigel Lythgoe, after last night's all tapper extravaganza, we've seen the last group tap routine for this season of So You Think You Can Dance. As Nigel explained, "tap is just too hard of a skill to teach to a non-tapper." So what say you, Mr. Nigel Lythgoe, to So You Think You Can Dance Canada's Tara-Jean Popowich and Everett Smith doing a...gasp, tap heavy routine?
That's right, our neighbors to the North just finished their season of So You Think You Can Dance Canada, where they challenged a non-tapper to tap. In Week 5, Sytycd Canada winner Tara-Jean and her partner tapper Everett drew "theater" as a genre, which involved a slew of tapping. Just watch for yourself:...
