Second vampire portrayed by Gabriel Braga Nunes, as he had previously played Victório in Rede Globo's O Beijo do Vampiro (2002). This led "O Beijo"Antônio Calmon to sue Rede Record and Tiago Santiago for plagiarism.
Ideas for a game and an animated series based on this show were considered but later scrapped (the game for unknown reasons). The animated spin-off was canceled after Tiago Santiago moved to SBT where he authored Amor e Revolução (2011).
Since they are result of IVF, the designation "mutants" given to the super-powered beings in this show is incorrect, as mutations (DNA alterations) happen to occur naturally. In real life they would rather be classified as transgenic beings.
Tiago Santiago was reportedly unaware of Heroes (2006) when he conceived the idea for this telenovela. This series and the show premiered on Rede Record almost simultaneously.
The title mutants are classified in two categories: chimericals (human-animal hybrids) and gifted (their pineal gland was altered, granting them primarily with psychokinetic abilities).
