This has either got to be the stupidest or the most brilliant anime I have ever seen.
I never read the manga, so I can't say if the story is any good. However, the anime is hilarious, once you get past the non-traditional anime style and very short episodes.
The idea of a former yakuza becoming a househusband has a lot of potential. A lot depends, however, on the reactions of the supporting characters, including somehow the family cat.
I'm not sure about this series being able to go on longer and continue to hold viewers' interest, but at least the anime version is a lot better than the live-action one.

I didn't expect much, so I got really surprised because I've laugh a lot. It's fun to watch and very fast (just 5 episodes), it leaves me wanting more.
Conclusion: at least, give it a try!

I logged into my 6 year account just to write this review. This is such a stupid show but god dammit do I respect it haha. 5 eps probably 10 minutes of actual content. Such a dumb premise but I laughed all the way through. I think netflix did this as an april fools not sure yet.

I don't think it will be for everyone but it's hilarious. The art style, the pace and humour are so unique, if you wanna have a laugh for a couple of hours it's perfect. I hope they make more and keep it short, this compact format is perfect.
This may not be for everyone but I absolutely loved it!! Relatable, hilarious and way too short! I need more episodes right now!

This is a nice chill anime you can watch on Netflix when your eating or something. It's not that deep but it's funny and light-hearted.

I saw it when I hang around in Netflix.
I don't read the manga but I directly watch the show and I really enjoyed. I don't care the art style. It's funny anime and I laugh every episode and it is just 5 episodes. Give it a shot. The idea of a former yakuza becoming a househusband has a lot of potential. It's a good story. Super fun to watch and absurdly enjoyable.

Hilarious, enjoyable, unlike any other anime. Its done in a way where its like ur reading a manga, yet with sound effects...awwesome!
I have heard that the manga was loved by many and has a high MAL rating, so I was a bit curious to see what Netflix and J. C Staff makes out of it.
I would say that I was disappointed strongly, especially with the animation. It is a moving animation style, however it didn't quite impress me and the pacing felt way too fast. There was a little comedy with scarce laughter and nothing much significant.
Gokushufudou felt like a slide of moments that didn't quite fit the character or the story itself. Looking at it, it should have been made more qualitative in terms of production, animation and what not. J. C Staff had a rough one I would say..
This should have been animated like the rest of the animes out there, and it even had less episodes with 15-17 mins for each episode. It was an another disappointment for an anime that aired on Netflix..

This whole thing is so ridiculous, and so japanese, that I don't even try to explain it for those who don't like it, why it is awesome.
I didn't mind the animation style and I thought it was hilarious how dramatic they made everything. If there wasn't so much bad language, I'd let my kids watch it. I understand why it's there, but everything else is so light hearted and silly that the language seems out of place. Other than that, it's just good, silly fun.

Reminds me a bit of One Punch man, but without the monsters and overpowered abilities.
Super fun to watch, lots of wtf moments, and absurdly enjoyable!
This is definitely a gem.

There is bad animation and there is animation that people don't get, like for this show. The animation was deliberately made like this to give the vibes as if you're in the manga itself. To be honest I liked it, it was something fresh. Even though i'm not a big fan of still images used for anime this was different. The story/journey is really good and funny if you are familiar with the culture. After finishing it I still would have the next season animated like this again.
If you want bad animation go watch Seven Deadly Sins or something.

I'm enjoying it so far the story and what not but to me it's over the top with theatrics and comes on strong if that's even possible haha. It feels like they are trying to push to hard on the story, rather it's suppose to feel like you are reading/watching a manga I wish they would tone it down a notch.

This is 10/10 if you've read the manga. The animation is just as satirical as the story line it portrays. The soundtrack adds a beautiful overture to the comedy. Varying from a jazz akin to Cowboy Bebop to pseudo 80's hair ballad rock. Over all a wonderful slice of life that will have your sides in stitches again and again.

I rarely write a review but this little gem fell into my lap quite unexpectedly. The animation is almost crude, but the story line is clever. Unless you have a basic understanding of Japanese culture, norms and the highly traditional gender roles that define Japan, some viewers may miss or not appreciate the many cheeky and sly cultural and social references in the story. Beyond that, the implausible story of a former, infamous yakuza boss turned dutiful househusband in Japan, with occasional outbursts of his former violent self and past life, is truly entertaining and hilarious. The title alone hooked me in from the very beginning. For those of you who like your humor cheeky, quirky and a little this side of whacky, this is for you.

Overall it's a great show, too bad it's so short. As one can tell for the reviews you either love it or hate it. Personally I love the animation style and found it hilarious.
All the bad reviews complain about the animation, but I think it's perfect for this show and exactly what it should be; the contrast between detailed backgrounds and rushed characters is on purpose and a practice widely used in animation. I don't want to sound pretentious, but if people complaining actually knew something about art and illustration they would understand why this anime is made differently.
Episodes are short and fast-paced, each episode feels like 4 episodes in one, thus these feel much longer than they actually are; to accomplish this the animators chose to make scenes look more like comic panels rather than fully animated scenes to make the viewer feel like they are reading a comedy manga. Each scene is at most about five seconds long, which means there's no need for detail, as the viewer wouldn't be able to absorb it anyway. And even with the lack of detail they did a fantastic job at setting the tone and expression of each character.
Seriously people, get a clue.

This has to be one of the worst animated series to be ever made. The animation is barely visibly, I have seen ppts with more animation than this.

Its funny, great for those that are into slice of lice genre and daily life hacks, as some of it does work in real life and would be a great tip. Plot wise unsure since theres little to no actual plot storyline laid, more like a random episodes with short stories. Recommended. Great for binge watching.

Funniest thing you will watch, it's just so ridiculously awesome and hilarious. Great concept and have no idea what people are talking about in regards to the animation- it's great and a stylistic choice and if you think it's bad then you clearly haven't watched anything pre-2010.
