No, this is a film adaptation of the 2006 Chris D'Arienzo comedy rock/jukebox Broadway musical of the same name.
On Blu-ray, an Extended Cut was released, that runs approx. 13 minutes longer than the Theatrical Version. It features some enhanced plot sequences but basically more sexual content. Thus the Extended Cut is rated R whereas the Theatrical Version got the PG-13 rating. This includes the "Rock You Like a Hurricane" lap dance scene between Stacee (Tom Cruise) and Sherrie (Julianne Hough), and an extended version of "Waiting for a Girl Like You" between Sherrie and Drew (Diego Boneta); both scenes can also be found on YouTube.
