The Lincoln Lawyer was actually better than I expected. I never read the books this was based off of but I did watch the Matthew McConaughey movie and thought it was pretty good but not worth making a series over. I really expected this to be some low budget rip off. I couldn't have been more wrong. I actually enjoyed it more than the movie. I wasn't going to watch it until I saw all the great reviews and that it was one of the most watched series of the year for Netflix. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo does a good job as the lead and Becky Newton, Neve Campbell, Angus Sampson, among others all do a fantastic job in supporting roles. While it's not the best lawyer show you'll ever see, it's definitely still worth watching.

I have to say I really had a good time watching The Lincoln Lawyer. It's about a down on his luck lawyer named Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) who takes over a successful practice after the lawyer in charge is murdered and leaves his entire practice including all his clients to Haller. Haller mostly world out of his Lincoln town car (hence why he's called The Lincoln Lawyer). He takes on all Tyler's of cases, some big some small. Even though some of it's unbelievable, you'll still have fun watching this. This show did so well that it was quickly renewed for season 2. Season 2 just came out and so far it's just as good, if not better, than the first.

A drug rehabilitated lawyer with two ex-wives a daughter and penchant for cars is thrust front-and-centre into a high profile case following the death of a friend. This comes complete with a practice and more secondary cases than he can cope with.

This intriguing premise sets up an opportunity-filled backdrop for a legal procedural series. The show takes this, adds a strong cast, well crafted and delivered dialogue and an interesting plot and runs with it at a good pace.

Some cinematography choices are awkward, particularly the shots with variable focus and some orange casts, though overall it functions as required. Mickey's driver, Izzy is often used as a plot explanation device, but despite being obvious, feels natural and in keeping with the storytelling.

This is end-to-end engaging, entertaining and enjoyable - highly recommended.

I can't wait for Season 4 of the Lincoln Lawyer. I loved the other two seasons but this season was the best! I love all the characters in this show and their comradeship with each other. Some of the scenes just made me gasp! I almost started crying several times. So much emotion in this season. I can't believe the criticism from some people about the bad acting. I think everyone does a superb job in playing their part. Maybe people just like strait laced people. That's one of the things I like most about thus show is the uniqueness of everyone. That's what are world is really like. I hope this show goes on for many more seasons. I'll be watching!

The writing grabs you. Well cast, excellent acting keeps your interest. There is chemistry btwn Mickey and both his exes. Happy to also feel the chemistry between Mickey and us, his audience. Love his whole team. They are an eclectic cast who mesh well. Season one had me on edge trying to figure out the deeper plot twists. Season two was a little more busy tending to distract from the coart room drama itself with sidebar scares. Changing views and points of views throughout keeps it sharp. Kudos to the background music teams and the car maintenance teams. Music is spot on for the mood. The cars are obviously well loved! Binge watchers be prepared to click next episode as many end with cliff hangers or questions to lead you to need more...

This is an enjoyable first season of the show that's based on Michael Connelly's novels. The tandem of David Kelley and Ted Humphrey succeeds in bringing to the screen the gritty story of smart defense lawyer Mickey Haller, his associates and family.

The viewer identifies with the ups and downs of Haller's legal career. But one is impressed by his passion for the law and genuine concern for his clients. The movie is able to capture his deep humanity amidst his flaws. Aside from Haller, all the other major characters are relatable: Cisco, Lorna, Maggie, Trevor Elliott, Hayley and even detective Griggs.

The plot lines are well-conceived and quite entertaining. The twists pique the viewer's attention while the drama resonates. In particular, the way Haller is able to unravel the magic bullet, connecting one crime to another, and use it at trial is ingenious. Serious students of criminal law and procedure will definitely appreciate the law and the free tutorial it offers them.

Bring Season 2 on. We can't wait to find out more in the life of Haller and company.

Ok i just finished this show and i am still not understanding why people have given it low ratings. It deserves at least 8-8.5 for sure.

I was very skeptical about watching this because of low ratings and not so good reviews but i thought let's give a try to couple of episodes and then decide.

I end up watching 6 episodes in a go.

I have seen THE LINCOLN LAWYER movie and we all loved Matthew McConaughey so Manuel Garcia-Rulfo was looking like a wrong cast.

I think he is also one of the reasons not enough people are watching this show because he is not a big name but he is actually good as The Lincoln Lawyer.

I liked his acting and surely will check out his other work as i also don't know him much.

And about the show it has all the ingredients for a crime thriller drama.

The acting,the pacing of the show and the production everything is good.

If you like shows like BOSCH or other court-room shows give it a try and you will end up liking it.

Waiting for the 2nd season.

Let's hope Netflix won't cancel it.

It deserves more attention & love than it's getting.

Some movies and shows get unnecessary hate and this show is one of them.

For those of us who like lawyer/police/detective stories, this was perfect. I couldn't stop watching, and very tempted to give it an even better star rating ... (I may come back and change it, but I'm generally stingy in that area).

In general, anything I've read or seen by Michael Connelly has been very good.

Don't understand why there are some bad reviews. Can't wait for more Lincoln Lawyer series.

Well, I binged it in a day. Kept me engaged.

Not everything is great. The final episode reveal was unexpected.

The show has nice foreshadowing and if you're paying attention you can see it. There are some things that happened for sake of plot but hey that's ok.

All in all not the best to have ever been made but decent. Looking forward to season 2.

Very bold to give Manuel Garcia-Rulfo the lead... and it seems that it's hard for a lot of folks to take in... but his soft approach does the job and he's a great fit for LA. It seems that the entire character development was a gamble... I think one that will pay off in the long run. I should give it a 7... but it gets a 9 to counter balance the folks who are just plain wrong. I finished the series in 3 sittings... liked it a lot.

I was really looking forward to this but it feels like any of 100 predictable network tv shows. Yawn.

There's the ruggedly handsome, sulky, brilliant lead.

There's the quirky, comical associate.

There's the smart-aleky teen.

There's the love/hate relationship with the ex.

There's the professional beyond-reproach judge.

There's the smarmy DA who dated the ex.

There's the hard-nosed cop.

What next, the tattooed, pigtailed tech genius?

Really tough to follow because the acting is so weak, particularly the lead, sad to say. Love the books. Used to like David Kelly. Weak effort, less than brilliant production. Uneven direction. I've been looking forward to this for ages. Maybe that's why it's so disappointing.

The Lincoln Lawyer

Netflix has adapted a novel called The Brass Verdict into a television show. It stars Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Becki Newton from How I Met Your Mother, Neve Campbell from the Scream franchise, Christopher Gorham, Angus Sampson from the Insidious franchise, Jazz Raycole, and Lana Parrilla from Once Upon a Time.

In 2006, Michael Connelly published his first novel out of six books, based on Mickey Haller. 2011, sees Connelly's first book The Lincoln Lawyer get adapted into a movie. Years later, in 2022, Netflix released a television show, called The Lincoln Lawyer. This is based on the second book in the series, known as The Brass Verdict.

After another lawyer mysteriously dies, Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia Rulfo) inherits all of his unfinished cases. On top of needing to learn his cases, he starts to investigate the sudden death of his colleague, while trying to repair his relationships in his personal life.

It's not hard to see why The Lincoln Lawyer is so popular on Netflix. All the storylines, and likable characters make the show intriguing to watch.

Rulfo is charming and personable as Haller. He makes the audience as well as the court laugh with his one liners. Previously having substance abuse issues, he has compassion for other people in similar situations, which is what leads him to hire Izzy Letts (Jazz Raycole) to be his driver. She is a great supporting character. They care and hold each other accountable to insure they both stay on the right path. Gorham does a good job portraying Trevor Elliott, a billionaire who plays the victim in his wife's murder. Newton plays a positive and caring Lorna Crane, she is Haller's secretary as well as friend. In addition, to all the people assisting Haller, he hires a private investigator named Cisco. Sampson works well together with the team in order to insure Haller's success.

The multiple storylines creates interest in the show. Most episodes there is a smaller case that Haller must win, but there also is a big case he has to solve along with other plot points. My verdict for The Lincoln Lawyer is if you like legal dramas, you will like this show.

First season was above average, and was very entertaining, season two was even better, season 3 was out of control awesome! This show keeps evolving better and better characters are starting to grow, and the show is getting deeper, it's a perfect mix of light humor, drama and suspense there are more than a few WTF moments that kept me up all night for the next episode and then the next until it was 4 am lol I CAN NOT WAIT FOR SEASON 4, I don't like a lot of series or they start off good then get cheesy but Lincoln lawyer is really starting to impress me with the cast, writing and delivery keep up the good work and Netflix don't screw the pooch on this one sign them for a couple seasons there is a lot of story left.

Very watchable The Storyline is perhaps a little predictable but none the poorer for this. A few twists and turns as is typical of the genre. I like the portrayal of the family and work dynamics.

For those that saw the movie, the TV series may seem somewhat lighter in delivery, however, it remains engaging ... well worth watching.

I binged all the eps before writing this.

It was an okay way to spend a bad weather day. I admit about half way through I fell asleep a few times. And more than once I had to go back and review because I found myself lost.

The actors/characters seem compelling enough. The lead actor was good but it seemed to me his accent changed a few times. Maybe that was just me. I was able to follow the main plot well enough but I think there was at least one maybe two secondary plots that just lost me. One was maybe about human trafficking. That was weird and I can't explain it.

As far as the main plot it did keep me guessing and there's a plot twist that was a surprise.

I'd watch a second season if they make it.

I enjoyed the movie, but I think I like the show better. You take a decent film like that, and to make an adaptation that surpasses it overall, that's a colossal undertaking. There is no doubt they spent a good fortune on this series. The backdrop, dialogue, the story - all top notch. Don't expect this to be just like the movie, because it's not meant to be, and don't compare this to the novels (apples to oranges).

I haven't seen the Lead actor (Garcia-Rulfo) actually play lead in anything that I can recall, although he has showed up in some extraordinary films over the past decade. He captures this role exceedingly well, and I believe we are witnessing a long overdue opportunity for him. Surprisingly, he embodies the hero lawyer essence that is required for this role (as well as McConaughey did). I believe the success of the series hinges on this factor alone. Neve Campbell is great as always. She can't not act. The rest of the supporting cast are satisfactory, IMO. At least, they don't necessarily detract from the experience.

It's been years since we had a spectacular law series like The Practice (David E. Kelley), Boston Legal (David E. Kelley), Ally McBeal (David E. Kelley), The Good Wife (not Kelley), now The Lincoln Lawyer (David E. Kelley). If this proves to stand the test of time like all of his previous courtroom dramas, it will transcend everything currently on the air (for this genre, of course). Within the first 30 minutes I got the same thrills I recall so many years ago. Back in the day, we could only watch one episode per week as they were released, but now in the age of binge watching, I get to absorb this all in a weekend. I spent a good portion of my life with all of David E. Kelley's creations/productions, and I don't regret a moment of my misspent youth. The only question I have is, why did they wait so long to birth another great one?

Do we have whiffs of **** the police, here? Of course, but that's part of mainstream these days, and whether we like it or not, the organism that is the entertainment industry is married to this "culture". Accept it, and move on, otherwise you deny yourself some of the indulgences you deserve, such as The Lincoln Lawyer.

Entertainment value: 9. Acting: 6. Writing: 7. Cinematography: 8. Average: 7.5.

Let's take a popular fiction series and make key changes and then wonder why the series isn't as good as it should be.

There are several changes from the Lincoln Lawyer novels. Some of the stories from the books are redone. The plot of the first novel is just a minor subplot in the series. Subplots from the different novels are mixed into seasons that correspond with different books.

Other changes are to character's, such as gender and sexual orientation. Yes, there is a token LGBTQ+ character among the regulars. I don't mind but now it seems every series requires one or more such characters, whether it adds anything to the story or not.

All this being said, the major weakness of this series is the portrayal of the title character, Mickey Haller. Mickey comes off as weak and passive. He's simply uninspiring. The lead actor needs to step things up and show some charisma. He is uninteresting. I will always think of Matthew McConaughey as the Lincoln Lawyer. On demographics, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo better fits the character of Mickey Haller from the novels. One detail I forgot is Mickey's mother is a Mexican actress and Garcia-Ruflo is better suited on this aspect than McConaughey.

Something just doesn't translate well from the print to the screen. Amazon's Bosch series, also based on Michael Connelly's novels, stands head and shoulders above this adaptation. Casting is a part of this, as is the chemistry between the actors. Each season gets a little less interesting than the previous season. My wife and I watched half of Seasion 3 and we're both uninspired. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, it just doesn't make we want to continue watching.

I have to say, one of the things I loved most about this season of The Lincoln Lawyer is that it focuses on just one case throughout the whole season, which really lets the story develop in a deeper and more satisfying way. Compared to other shows that introduce a new case each episode, this approach felt so much more immersive. The show is packed with emotion and laughs, and you really start to love the side stories where they delve into the personal lives of the other characters. By the end, you find yourself falling in love with all of them! Honestly, I can't wait for the next season-it's such a refreshing take on the legal drama genre! I absolutely loved the latest season of The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix! It's filled with twists and turns that keep you hooked right until the end. I don't usually leave reviews, but I couldn't resist this time. There were nights I'd have work at 9 AM, but after finishing each episode, I just had to watch another-it's that good! The tension builds with each new case, and the courtroom drama is riveting. The characters are so well-developed, and the writing is sharp.

This one is good and I honestly believe that this show has the potential to turn out to be the best one in this genre if they work on building up of characters of the supporting cast and a little more intensity in the plot.

Something like family in real danger, evolution of supporting cast, a haunting past and little more paper work and a space for court room drama in each episode.

Overall a winner!

This looks and feels like any of the NCIS/CSI mind-numbing shows on prime time. The characters are flat, the dialogue is inane and cutesy. Plot - meh. Most of the characters are miscast, and not likeable, except the lead. His charisma carries the show. Other than him, not much here. I can't see why people are raving about this.

I haven't written a review of this series yet and I just realized why - I would only be repeating 90% of the positive reviews and the folks involved would not have anything new to consider - they only learn from negative reviews - The casting is first class as is the writing and directing - not to take away from the actors but they have been given excellent material , direction and writing - the show moves and has intriguing side bars from the main issue that keeps the major premise fresh - in the 3rd season there is a salt and pepper relationship which I normally don't find entertaining - this one is working in spades for me - I like Maggie but with her out of the picture - two power lawyers hooking up on opposite sides works for me - as does this series.
