An important aspect of gameplay is being able to switch to "action mode" at any time and physically attack anything, or any character, in the game, for any reason at all. You can punch/kick allies, enemies, or inanimate objects. Almost all obstacles or problems can be bypassed with violence, or by using intelligence (puzzle solving). One or two endings exist for being violent at all opportunities.
All violence is cartoon in nature, and no blood is ever seen. Blood is implied in one investigation case, but it turns out to be an edible liquid.

The game opens up with Brok having a nightmare. The building he's in is burning, and he eventually finds a woman trapped under some furniture in the flame-filled room, and she yells at him in a very angry way before he wakes up panicking.
