“I’m politically incorrect sometimes,” Billy Bob Thornton said during a Q&a after the first episode of new Paramount+ series “Landman.” “I think you should always show two episodes to an audience. That’s the first thing. The other thing I think you ought to do is open up questions for the audience.” He paused. “We’re not able to do that tonight, and we did not show two episodes.”
The crowd and Thornton’s fellow cast members roared. The moment was in keeping with Thornton’s persona but also his starring role in Taylor Sheridan’s new series, set in the contemporary Texas oil fields.
After Thornton made a cameo in Sheridan’s “Yellowstone” prequel “1883,” the prolific producer told him, “I’m writing a show around you. It’s called ‘Landman.’ I’m gonna write it with your voice.” And when Thornton got the first script, he recalled,...

Billy Bob Thornton is gracing the CBS Mornings set this Thursday. He’s there to talk about his latest project, “Landman,” a Taylor Sheridan creation hitting Paramount+ on November 17. “Landman,” based on the “Boomtown” podcast, plants its flag firmly in the oil-soaked landscape of West Texas. It’s a world of roughnecks, billionaires, and, one assumes, […]

As Taylor Sheridan continues to crank out TV shows at breakneck speed, he has enlisted Billy Bob Thornton as his latest leading man for new series Landman.
The Paramount+ series is set within the world of oil rigs in West Texas and stars Thornton as Tommy Norris, a crisis executive at an oil company. Thornon previously had a small role on Sheridan’s series 1883, which helped spark the idea of his own series.
“I went to the [1883] premiere in Las Vegas, and after that we had a dinner and Taylor sat next to me and he said, ‘Listen, I’ve got a thing I’m going to write around you. It’s called Landman, it takes place in the oil business, and I’m going to write it in your voice because I think I’ve known you long enough now to write in your voice,'” Thornton recalled...

“Yellowstone” is finally back.
Taylor Sheridan’s series, which last aired a new episode on Jan. 1, 2023, is the most popular show on TV. Given the lengthy time off, exacerbated by two Hollywood strikes and the prolonged tug-of-war between Sheridan and star Kevin Costner (which ultimately led to his departure), anticipation for the show is at an all-time high.
Going into the second half of season 5, there is a grab for power in the Dutton household, between Jamie (Wes Bentley) and Beth (Kelly Reilly), with Kayce (Luke Grimes) also in the mix. Rip (Cole Hauser) was headed with the herd to the 6666 ranch in Texas. And tensions were otherwise running very high. Everything is ready to explode.
But how do you actually watch the new season of “Yellowstone,” which is technically the second half of season 5 (or 5B)? Let us explain it all. Here’s when and where to watch new episodes of “Yellowstone,...

“Yellowstone” is back.
Taylor Sheridan’s phenomenally popular series, the most-watched show currently airing on television, returns on Sunday, Nov. 10. The new batch of episodes (six in total) serve as the second half of the show’s fifth season, which began way back in November 2022. Since then, the show has endured a very public feud with its star Kevin Costner, two strikes that shutdown Hollywood and a considerable amount of handwringing about what direction the series will ultimately take.
And while it appears that the mainline series is coming to an end, although that “final season” bit has been left out of the marketing materials for the second half of season 5 (so far), there will still be plenty to come from Sheridan’s considerable “Yellowstone” universe. These plans include a whole suite of “Yellowstone” spinoffs, which are somewhat confusing and difficult to parse through. But that’s why we’re here.

As the nation braces for another presidential election, many important questions have captivated social media, chief among them — is Taylor Sheridan a Republican?
Okay, so concerns about the Yellowstone creator’s politics might not be at the absolute center of the discourse at this moment.
But with his flagship show returning to Paramount Network in less than one week, Sheridan is very much on the minds of millions of viewers.

But it’s pulling off one thing Yellowstone couldn’t quite master. Where Yellowstone brings out the grit, Territory goes a step further, blending that intensity with a sharper, more dynamic edge that hits home with today’s audience.

Demi Moore, whose performance in Coralie Fargeat’s “The Substance” as been praised as Oscar-worthy, will receive a career tribute at the French Cinematheque in Paris on Nov. 5, ahead of the movie’s local release.
The day-long retrospective and tribute are being co-hosted by Mubi, the global arthouse distributor and streamer which has successfully released the bold and bloody movie in the U.S., the U.K., Latin America, German and most other international territories, as well as Metropolitan which handles the French theatrical release, and the French Cinematheque.
The feminist body-horror movie stars Moore as Elisabeth Sparkle, a recently fired daytime-tv who uses a black market drug that creates a younger version of herself, with dangerous side effects.
Underscoring Mubi’s big theatrical push, the movie already ranks as an indie hit, having grossed $53.6 million worldwide since its Sept. 20 release, including $14.5 million in North America. It’s Mubi’s biggest B.

The oil business affects everything in the wild West Texas town of Landman, and Billy Bob Thornton is a key cog in that machine.
The second trailer for the next Taylor Sheridan series, this time about the oil business, focuses on Thornton’s Tommy Norris, a crisis manager in the oil industry, and peels back more of the relationships between the star-studded ensemble that includes Thornton, Jon Hamm, Demi Moore and Ali Larter.
“Men die, oil companies don’t,” says Tommy (Thornton) in the high-octane trailer (below), as he describes himself as “a divorced alcoholic with $500 thousand in debt” and pulls his son (Jacob Lofland) into the business.
Hamm stars in a recurring guest role as Monty Miller, a Texas oil industry titan with a long personal and professional relationship with Tommy; Moore plays Cami, the wife of another powerful oil man in Texas and friend of Norris; and Larter plays Norris’ ex-wife.

There’s no stopping the expansion of the Sheridanverse, the sprawl of interconnected dramas about the American heartland created by actor-writer-director Taylor Sheridan. Taylor Sheridan is arguably the greatest modern storyteller when it comes to Westerns, who breathed new life into the genre on both big and small screens over the last decade. While the revered writer has occasionally strayed away from the genre to delve into other projects like the Mayor of Kingstown, Westerns have completely dominated his filmography since his rise to prominence.

Now that the fall season premiere season is finally upon us, I am practically buzzing with excitement.
It’s difficult to contain myself because that means Chicago Fire Season 13 is right around the corner!
Last season’s finale was rife with cliffhangers and jaw-dropping moments that have had all of us reeling since May. We’re more than ready to dive back in.
(NBC/Adrian S. Burrows)
Before we do, I’ve been thinking about characters I’m hoping to see more of in the coming season.
Season 12 was a condensed installment, consisting of only 13 episodes instead of the usual 22.
The return of a full season means we’ll hopefully have more time to spend with some of the characters, developing their individual storylines in a way that there wasn’t time for last year.

Fox’s Accused is a cut above the rest.
Anthological series are rare, in large part because it is difficult to tell a series of stories in a constructive manner that the audience can understand.
Thanks to Accused’s formatting, the series has a full beginning, middle, and end to each story.
(Fox)
However, the risk is that an audience could fall off throughout the season because there of zero connective tissue between each installment.
Fortunately, that wasn’t the case with Accused’s premiere, which pulled off a near-impossible feat in modern television by bringing in eight million live viewers, a number that continued to accrue in the days following.
With its familiar and laudworthy casting, strong performances, and compelling stories, Accused had a winning formula for registering with the audience.
