Saverio Lamanna returns to his native Sicily to write a book, and solve tricky mysteries. Saverio returns to Sicily after losing a ministry position in Rome, when a young boy who has gone missing is found dead.

For a futile mistake Saverio Lamanna, journalist and spokesman at the Ministry of Interior, has lost everything. Destroyed, the man leaves Rome to take refuge in Màkari, a Sicilian village where he has an abandoned holiday home. Saverio is broke, that's why he accepts a gig job as a guide for a food and wine tour. As he shows some of the most picturesque spots of Sicily to a group of tourists, he notices that everybody speaks ill of Olmo (Ivano Marescotti). Olmo is accompanied on this trip by his son Glauco (Daniele Molino), a group of alleged friends and partners, and the enigmatic Katrina (Katia Mironova). When the leader and the main sponsor of the group, targeted by feelings of hatred and resentment, suddenly dies Saverio has no doubts: it's a murder.

Saverio Lamanna learns that a distant cousin has died in a car crash in Sicily. After attending the funeral, he searches for answers. Illegal betting, super glue, soccer, the Mafia, and a year's worth of bottled pasta sauce are in the mix.

Saverio is hired as a publicist and also to keep an eye on a female director at a film festival who has a combative relationship with a contentious male lead/ex-lover.
