Everything you need to know about Peacock’s unbeatable lineup of reality TV.
I have a special connection to reality TV. After I graduated from USC, I spent three years working for a reality TV producer as we tried to develop and sell unscripted TV shows. It was pretty cool to get a first-hand look at how the sausage is made. And while we never got a show on the air during my stint, it was my first “real” experience in Hollywood, and one I’ll never forget. Now, that was a long time ago, but fortunately, my wife is a current reality TV aficionado. And so when it comes to the best reality TV streamer out there, there’s really only one answer: Peacock. Let me tell you why…

Exclusive: Max’s upcoming medical drama The Pitt is already making a lasting impression, months ahead of its debut. And it’s not only over the headline-making lawsuit from the Michael Crichton estate alleging ties to his creation ER — something The Pitt auspices and studio Warner Bros TV vigorously deny.
The intrigue has to do with the series’ unusual casting process that resembled hiring practices at a general company, where people apply for a position at a fixed salary denoted in the job listing — in this case $50,000 and $35,000 per episode. That technique is also employed by several current episodic crime anthology series including CBS’ Elsbeth, Fox’s Accused and Peacock’s Poker Face for their Guest Star of the Week, who are getting between $75K-150K. (More on the sizes of each of these fixed fees in a bit.)

Comcast president Mike Cavanaugh floated the possibility during the company’s third-quarter earnings call with analysts.
Quarterly earnings reports often make for somewhat dry reading, but they’re still must-haves for analysts because many times company executives use them to make big announcements. Comcast president Mike Cavanaugh did just that on Thursday, using his company’s conference call to discuss its third-quarter earnings as a platform to announce that it was considering spinning off popular cable channels like Bravo, CNBC, MSNBC, and USA Network into their own business, a move that could help Comcast focus more on scaling its streaming service Peacock.
Key Details: Cavanaugh said more specifics about the plan would be available once Comcast reached “firm conclusions. The executive also said Comcast was still on the lookout for potential streaming joint ventures or other partnerships. Other media firms like Wbd have been urged to separate their cable and streaming businesses by analysts.

The NBCUniversal streamer isn’t competing with Netflix and Prime Video in terms of subscribers, but it is slowly moving toward profitability.
All of a sudden it’s late October, and for many entertainment companies that means it’s time to start reporting third-quarter earnings. NBCUniversal revealed its quarterly earnings report for Peacock on Thursday, Oct. 31, and as part of the report informed analysts and observers that it had gained 3 million subscribers, taking its new total to 36 million after ending Q2 with 33.5 million customers.

Financially, Peacock had another encouraging quarter. Its revenue brought in during the quarter was $1.5 billion, a year-over-year increase of 82%. An increase in revenue is hardly surprising, considering Q3 was the first full quarter in which Peacock's new prices were in effect, and the streamer also had the benefit of hosting the Olympics and the starts of new NFL and college football seasons.

From modern classics to iconic series, there are so many great mysteries to watch now that the latest murder at the Arconia has been solved.
It’s a wrap on yet another high-octane season of Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building!” The Emmy Award-winning murder-mystery comedy series starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez aired its Season 4 finale on Tuesday, Oct. 29 as the lead crime-solving trio finally found who stunted stuntwoman Sazz’s further life and career ambitions. And as is tradition for the series, the season ended as it began: in carnage, as celebration turns to suspicion and a beloved Arconia fixture becomes the latest victim.
To paraphrase the one and only Charles Brazzos, when one murder door closes, another opens. There will be more cases to crack in future seasons of “Only Murders,” but while this case is closed, don’t let your detective instincts get rusty.

Shortly after the main cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps was announced, several supporting players were added to the Marvel Studios reboot, but their characters were not disclosed.
We'd be very surprised if Paul Walter Hauser wasn't playing the villainous Mole Man, and there's speculation that John Malkovich may have been cast as Doctor Franklin Storm. As for Natasha Lyonne, the most popular theory is Ben Grimm's love-interest Alicia Masters, but some believe she may provide the voice of H.E.R.B.I.E. the robot.
Whoever the Poker Face star is playing, she has now finished filming her scenes for the movie.
Lyonne was asked about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe during a brief interview with Et. She expressed her excitement about being a part of the franchise, but was very careful not to disclose anything about her role.

New data from Parks Associates highlights the successes streamers have had in moving viewers to ad plans.
Streaming providers have accomplished something that all businesses wish they could do at will: change customer attitudes. Streamers have affected a big change in feelings regarding ads; there was a time when streaming customers thought ads were a thing of the past, and it was unthinkable that services would start forcing customers to watch commercials with their on-demand content. Now, a new survey from Parks Associates shows that customers are increasingly accepting of ads, as well as the reason behind their willingness to accept commercials.
Key Details: On average, 57% of customers of Max, Netflix, Disney+, Discovery+, Prime Video, Paramount+, Hulu, and Peacock are ad-supported customers. Viewers increasingly see ad-supported plans as a good way to give a streamer an initial try. The survey also shows the increased efficacy of bundled streaming products. The season will consist of eight 30-minute episodes. Lee Sung Jin returns as creator, showrunner, and executive producer. Steven Yeun, Ali Wong, and Jake Schreier also executive produce. A24 is the studio.

Data from Parrot Analytics shows that ‘Yellowstone’ drove more subscriber acquisition for Peacock this year than any other TV show..
“Yellowstone” continues to be one of the most popular shows on television, despite the fact that it’s been nearly two years since new episodes of the series aired on Paramount Network. The Western drama centering on the Dutton family and their Yellowstone ranch in Montana is about to return with the second half of its fifth season, but they won’t be available to stream right away, as it will be a few months before you can stream them on-demand on Peacock. A new survey from Parrot Analytics shows just how important the blockbuster show is to Peacock, and highlights where customers who sign up to the service to watch it are coming from.
Key Details: Parrot found that “Yellowstone” accounted for 3.71% of all customer acquisitions between January and August.

The dance party is ready to start once more with Just Dance 2025. For over 15 years now, Ubisoft’s rhythm-based game has been getting living rooms shaking to the hottest hits. What began as a novel way to exercise our fingers and feet through screen mimicry has evolved into a vibrant community where dancers of all skill levels come together in rhythmical recreation.
This year sees the franchise’s continuing transition to an on-demand platform. Previous releases like 2023 opened the vaults so long-time fans could enjoy back catalogs, and newcomers jumped straight into a selection spanning years.
Version 2025 builds on this model, keeping regular players swinging with fresh routines while treating all players to a free trial of the game’s subscription service. Through Just Dance+, over 300 tracks await discovery, ensuring no party ever plays the same tune twice.
So what melody might we move to this time around? Chart-toppers like...

Todd Phillips’ 2019 film Joker is largely considered to be a masterpiece, it aptly explored the destructive character of Gotham’s most nefarious villain. The film’s sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux represented the iconic character played by Joaquin Phoenix joined by his equally unstable lover portrayed by Lady Gaga.
However, the new movie received mixed responses from fans and critics who were unamused by the several creative liberties taken by the director. One incident allegedly involved a movie-goer setting a chair on fire in protest during the screening. Although his protest had nothing to do with the film, but the lead actress’s connection to Brazil.

Is Peacock about to solidify its sports lineup with regional sports networks? That’s the report from The Wall Street Journal.
According to the article, Peacock will begin offering NBC-owned RSNs in early 2025. That makes Peacock much more attractive for sports fans in Boston, Philadelphia, and California. Currently, the NBC-owned RSNs are only available on Directv Stream, Fubo, Hulu Live TV, and YouTube TV. Peacock would offer those channels at a far lower monthly price.
Sign Up $7.99+ / month peacocktv.com
Peacock would likely offer these channels for an additional price on top of the normal subscription. We don’t know if all viewers in an area would have to pay for the channels whether they watch them or not.

Fox’s Murder in a Small Town has just gotten underway, but it’s taking an aspect few could expect in some big guest stars! See which Smallville co-star is coming on the next episode!
Based on the novels by L.R. Wright, Murder in a Small Town focuses on Karl Alberg (Rossif Sutherland), a former big-city cop who relocates to the small town of Gibsons, British Columbia. He figures it’ll be a nice and quiet job as the local police chief only to start uncovering crimes in the town, including murder.
Alberg does get help from his fellow cops and a relationship with local librarian Cassandra Mitchell (Kristen Kreuk), who he starts dating. While it appeared the show was just a standard mystery, it’s getting attention thanks to some surprisingly high-profile guest stars.
The 90-minute premiere had Oscar nominee James Cromwell as an elderly resident who’s suspected of a dark murder.

Exclusive: Poppy Liu and Chris Bauer have joined the cast of Netflix’s Limited Series His & Hers in recurring roles. They will star opposite series lead and EP Tessa Thompson. Production is set to begin this fall.
The six-episode limited series from William Oldroyd and adapted from Alice Feeney’s novel is set in the sweltering heat of Atlanta where Anna (Thompson) lives in haunting reclusivity and is fading away from her friends and career as a journalist. But when she overhears about a murder in Dahlonega – the sleepy town where she grew up – she is snapped back to life, pouncing on the case and searching for answers. Detective Jack Harper (Jon Bernthal) is strangely suspicious of her involvement, chasing her into the crosshairs of his own investigation. There are two sides to every story, his and hers, which means someone is always lying.

In Azazel Jacobs’ recently released Netflix film “His Three Daughters,” an anticipatory grief hangs over the drama like a shroud falling in agonizing slow motion. This is a concept Natasha Lyonne knows well. Her own life has hung precariously in the balance on more than one occasion, with her heroin addiction in the early 2000s and subsequent open-heart surgery in 2012 well documented, but in a recent piece for The New York Times, Lyonne expanded on her understanding, describing it as something that’s much larger than just death.
“We don’t talk about the fact that we’re in a constant state of ongoing grief for, like, the moment that has passed,” Lyonne said. She added later of not taking time to process different forms of hardship, “It’s just sort of normalized, that we should accept it.”
Adding to her “hot takes on how we’re doing life wrong,...

Exclusive: Writer Nell Scovell (Sabrina the Teenage Witch) and former NBCUniversal content chief Susan Rovner are developing the new series The Fishbowl with CBS Studios for CBS, sources tell Deadline.
The drama is a procedural about a brilliant medical examiner overseeing a private room at the Manhattan morgue that investigates New York City’s weirdest deaths, we hear.
Scovell created the series and will executive produce with Susan Rovner through her newly minted Aha Studios banner. CBS Studios is producing.
The Fishbowl marks Scovell’s second procedural pilot for CBS. The first, Without a Clue, starred Gary Cole, Busy Phillips and Marisa Coughlan, but did not move forward to series. She also worked as a consulting producer on NCIS. Scovell is a WGA-nominated writer who is best known as the creator and showrunner of ABC’s Sabrina the Teenage Witch and has written for David Letterman, The Simpsons, Charmed and The Muppets.

NBC officials are still holding concrete details about the number of new subscribers for Peacock back until October.
The 2024 Summer Olympics are officially in the history books, but Peacock is hoping it continues to see benefits from the games for years to come. Peacock offered a massive amount of coverage for this year’s games, livestreaming more than 3,200 individual events and crafting the daily “Gold Zone” whip-around show to give audiences a window into the hottest action across the games each day. Analysts and observers are still awaiting concrete numbers on how many subscribers Peacock gained during the Olympics, and NBC’s media group chairman Mark Lazarus gave a small update on that figure at the Front Office Sports Tuned In summit last week.
Key Details: Lazarus said that Peacock “added a lot of subs” thanks to the Olympics. Declining to share a hard number, Lazarus pointed to NBC’s...

Nielsen’s latest ‘The Gauge’ report shows NBC drawing in some good numbers for the games.
The 2024 Summer Olympics brought some highly memorable moments. From the dominance of Simone Biles to the breakdancing of Raygun and everything in between, the Paris games brought majestic and befuddling performances aplenty. But how many people were watching? New data from Nielsen’s monthly “The Gauge” report has some insights, showing that overall broadcast TV’s share of total TV viewing jumped 1.7% in August, mostly driven by the games.
Key Details: Seventeen Olympic telecasts in August garnered 10 million viewers or more. Broadcast sports program viewership was up 239% over August 2023. Peacock jumped past 2% of all TV viewing during the month, reaching a new personal best. Sign Up $7.99+ / month peacocktv.com
If the 1.7% figure doesn’t sound all that impressive, drilling down into the numbers reveals more about the dominant ratings performance NBC posted during the Olympics.

Earlier this summer, Hulu shared the first look at Chad Powers, starring Glen Powell, and we all became instantly interested in the upcoming comedy. What updates have surfaced since? We’re here to help you keep up with everything to know about Chad Powers so far.
I’ll be honest here, as much as I love Glen Powell, I can’t say I’m a huge fan of the first look Hulu shared. Let’s just say, the Twisters movie star is looking very different. But make no mistake, Powell is a brilliant actor and a hilarious one, too, which is all the upcoming comedy Chad Powers needs. That said, the first look did not discourage us from pinning the comedy so we can check back as more details are known.
The most recent update on the series comes from Deadline, as the source shares that four new actors have...
