A frustrated Börje feels out of place in Kiruna. Big brother is a hockey star in Gävle, and after losing his job, Börje is desperate to show what he's up to and follow in his brother's footsteps.
Börje achieves considerable success in Gävle, finds a home of his own and meets the love of his life, Margitta. Life plays out, and when a Canadian hockey scout shows up, Börje is faced with a life-changing decision.
Börje's life is up and down, and to top it all off, he discovers a proper language barrier between himself and his new teammates. The Maple Leafs' owners are becoming increasingly critical of Börje's recruitment.
Börje struggles to balance career and family life. A visiting Stig questions her brother and his team, and Margitta begins to question whether Toronto can offer her more than a life as a hockey wife.
Börje is seriously injured and Margitta is afraid that she will lose him. A new coach makes life difficult for the players. Margitta is disappointed when Börje is missing at an important event.
The year is 1986 and Börje turns 35. He is still at his peak and receives offers from other teams, but with age heavy memories of his father come to the surface, and Börje can no longer push them away.
