Mike Campbell, celebrated songwriter and guitarist of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, has announced Heartbreaker, a new memoir. The book is due for release on March 18th via Grand Central Publishing (pre order here).

Heartbreaker explores both the personal and creative life of Campbell, offering fans an in-depth look at his upbringing, his experience linking up with Petty, and the origins of songs like “Refugee” and “Rinnin’ Down a Dream.” He also touches on collaborating with such artists as Don Henley and Stevie Nicks.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell has teamed up with novelist Ari Surdoval to write a memoir, Heartbreaker, which will be released on March 18, 2025.

The book will trace the story of Campbell’s life from his days on the Sixties Florida rock scene through his years in Mudcrutch and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, the sudden death of Petty in 2017, his brief stint in Fleetwood Mac that followed, and his ongoing solo work in Mike Campbell & the Dirty Knobs.

“This is my book,” Campbell says in a statement.

Problematic lyrics in music are not a new thing, the issue of portraying women in a bad light has been rampant in most famous raps. Several artists and fans have called out popular rappers and musicians for allegedly following the toxic trend of women-hatred in their songs.

Mariah Carey is just a few months away from the start of her 2024 Mariah Carey’s Christmas Time tour.

The tour will start on November 6 in California and see 20 cities across the country. It will make stops in places like Houston, Atlanta, Philadelphia and more, before it concludes in New York City on December 17.

This tour, which is Carey’s greatest holiday spectacle yet, will celebrate the 30th anniversary of her album Merry Christmas and its iconic single, ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’.

Last year Carey did a shorter, 13-date tour, Merry Christmas One and All!, which consisted of largely holiday songs, with some of the singer’s non-seasonal hits thrown in the mix.

Broadway box office took a slide last week as receipts for Sweeney Todd fell by more than $1 million with the departures of Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford (and before the February 9 arrival of big-name replacements Aaron Tveit and Sutton Foster).

Overall, box office for the 25 Broadway productions was off by 15% from the previous week, with receipts for the week ending January 21 (the first week of the annual Broadway Week 2-for-1 discount promotion) totaling $23,589,174. Attendance of 204,612 was down only 6% (and holding about even with last season at this time).

Average ticket price for all shows was $115.29, down from $126.70 the previous week.

Most of the productions reported a drop in receipts, though none on the scale of the $1,315,747 hit taken by Sweeney: The acclaimed Sondheim musical revival grossed $795,400, compared to the massive $2,111,147 for the previous week, when Groban and Ashford came to the ends of their limited runs.

Pink isn’t slowing down any time soon.

On Monday, the singer, who dropped Trustfall in 2023, announced that she is heading on her Pink Live tour this year in between dates for her beloved Summer Carnival Tour.

The singer will perform at four already-scheduled shows in Tacoma and Vancouver before stopping in cities such as Detroit, Lincoln, Austin, Atlanta, and Columbia. Tickets for the new shows go on sale on Jan. 26 at 10 a.m., with presale access beginning on Jan. 23 for Citi cardholders.

“It’s my Birthday so I’m going to give you a present!” our November cover star wrote on Twitter. “I’m releasing four never released songs for my birthday, to go with the Rockstar album, and a few others that you may have heard before that were not on the album. It was a family affair for superstar songstress Mariah Carey as she brought her Merry Christmas One and All! tour to the Hollywood Bowl for two sold-out shows on Nov. 17 and 19.

Joining the superstar onstage both nights were her 12-year-old twins (with Nick Cannon), Moroccan and Monroe, or “Roc and Roe,” as the singer put it. The Queen of Christmas kicked off the 16-date run with a show at the Yaamava’ Theater on Wednesday night (November 15) in Highland, Calif.

Mariah is performing two shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles this weekend and she’ll also be hitting cities like Denver, Kansas City, Toronto, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and more before wrapping the tour at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

This festive event is a celebration of the global superstar’s timeless collection of holiday classics including the record-breaking mega-hit, “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” and fan favorite chart toppers.

Mariah is making history this weekend at the Billboard Music Awards.

Christine McVie’s estate and Pat Benatar have both closed deals to sell rights to their music to the acquisition firm HarbourView Equity Partners, the company tells Rolling Stone.

McVie’s estate has sold her stake in Fleetwood Mac’s recorded music, which includes shares in hits like the McVie-sung tracks “Songbird” and “Say You Love Me,” along with other band staples “Go Your Own Way,” “The Chain” and “Dreams.” Benatar — as well as her longtime musical partner and husband Neil Giraldo — sold an unspecified stake in both their recorded music and publishing rights.

“A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” is based on Holly Jackson’s bestselling book-series about 17-year-old Pip, who finds herself drawn into a murder investigation when she begins to suspect the police have got the wrong man.

Moonage Pictures are now adapting the book alongside the BBC (who own a minority stake in Moonage) and German co-producers Zdf, with “Wednesday” star Emma Myers cast as Pip.

With the project a Mipcom priority for BBC Studios, who are repping international distribution rights, exec producers Matthew Read and Frith Tiplady sat down with Variety to discuss why “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” has the potential to rival the Queen of Crime herself, Agatha Christie.

Singer-songwriter Mariah Carey has posted some Instagram shots reminiscent of her ‘Dreamlover’ music video look from 30 years ago. In the photos, Carey posed in a black-and-white flannel with her hair worn in long, soft waves pulled back on the sides, and also wore more natural makeup, reports People magazine.

Peter Gonzales Falcon, the Texan who starred as a young Federico Fellini in the director’s semi-autobiographical Roma, has died, according to his friend Aurelio Montemayor. He was 75.

Gonzales Falcon got his start with a bit part in Viva Max (1969), a satirical film about a modern-day Mexican general (Peter Ustinov) who retakes the Alamo.

The actor went on to model for a year in London before he landed the role that would make his career.

In 2018, Gonzales Falcon related the story of auditioning for Fellini after being recommended by actor Eugene Walter, a friend of a friend:

I went to Cinecittà where there was a line about a block long with young men wanting to meet Fellini. I went around the line to the main door and buzzed. The door was opened by Liliana [Fellini’s longtime assistant] who looked like a little Edward G. Robinson and even had a cigar in her mouth.

Peter Gonzales Falcon, the actor from Texas who portrayed a young Federico Fellini in Roma, the famed Italian director’s 1972 autobiographical film, has died. He was 74.

Gonzales Falcon was found dead at his home Tuesday in La Pryor, Texas, by authorities called there for a safety check, his friend Aurelio Montemayor told The Hollywood Reporter.

After dropping out of college after being cast in Viva Max (1969), a farcical present-day comedy about retaking the Alamo, Gonzales Falcon was hired by Fellini himself for Roma, which featured cameos from Anna Magnani, Marcello Mastroianni and Gore Vidal.

Segments of the film show Gonzales Falcon as Fellini during the 1930s and ’40s after the future filmmaker arrives in Rome to pursue a career as a journalist and wanders the city to experience what it has to offer. He worked on the documentary-style feature for 41 weeks, he told author Tom Lisanti during an expansive 2018 interview.

One of the traits that set Led Zeppelin apart from their contemporaries was the amount of democracy in the band. Founder Jimmy Page and ace multi-instrumentalist John Paul Jones came to the band with songwriting chops, but in time Bonham and singer Robert Plant became key contributors to all of Led Zeppelin’s songs.

Many of Zep’s early tunes were reworkings of blues standards. Page said he divided songwriting credits evenly in those cases.

Paddington in Peru, the third film in the Paddington franchise, has added a newcomer to its cast. Oscar winner Olivia Colman is in talks to play a role in the StudioCanal feature about the beloved bear.

Ben Whishaw has long voiced the titular bear, who in past films was seen getting into adventures with the Brown family. Exact plot details are being kept under wraps but the movie will see Paddington travel from his home in London to his native home of “darkest Peru.”

Sources note that Colman’s character will run a retirement home for bears in Peru. (Fans of the Paddington franchise will remember that Paddington’s Aunt Lucy lives in The Home for Retired Bears.)

Paddington in Peru will be the feature debut of Dougal Wilson, the award-winning commercial and music video director. Heyday and StudioCanal are producing the feature. Filming will be done on location in London and Peru.

Dolly Parton is about to debut her first rock album, just one year after being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Parton promised she would release a rock record if she were inducted into the hall, and she’s making delivering on that promise and then some.

The tracklist for Rockstar consists of 30 songs, with the majority being covers of iconic rock music. One song she is covering is “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” by The Rolling Stones.

It’s probably safe to say that Dolly Parton will be the only artist this year (and possibly ever) whose new album will include features by Lizzo, Rob Halford, Paul McCartney, and Stevie Nicks. Upon her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year, Dolly Parton announced her intention to record a rock album. “If I’m gonna be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I’m gonna have to earn it,” she said at the time.

Parton has spent the last year making good on that promise by enlisting some of the biggest names in music to join her in recording a mix of rock ‘n’ roll originals and covers. The end result, aptly titled Rockstar, will arrive on November 17th via her own Butterfly Records in conjunction with Big Machine Label Group.
