I just read Silo got renewed for another season so I'm looking forward to seeing where this show goes. This show really is every bit as good as everyone says it it. It currently has a 87% on Rotten Tomatoes from both critics and audience and a 8.2 here. It has those great scores for a reason. This is definitely one of the best new shows of the year. It takes place in a dystopian future where everyone lives in a huge silo hundreds of stories underground. They live there with a bunch of rules that they all believe are in place to protect them. It has a star studded cast led by Rebecca Ferguson and supported by Tim Robbins, Shane McRae, Will Patton, Common, Iain Glen, David Oyelowo, Rashida Jones, and more. With that cast, the great writing and great visuals this is a cant miss thriller.

There are plenty of post apocalyptic series to choose from but Silo is among the better ones to come out in some time. I never read the books (or even heard of them) but I've still been looking forward to this ever since I first heard about it and then my expectations grew even more after watching the trailers. Well, I can tell you that without a doubt this show has not only met those expectations but surpassed them in every way. This is probably best binged watched because of all the great cliffhangers it's hard to wait a week to see what happens next. This has so many great twists and turns it will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout each episode. I'm glad this got renewed so quickly because this is a show that can stay exciting for at least a few more seasons. I also hate getting invested in a show for said show to get canceled without a proper ending.

Silo is telling a story about a bunch of people living in a bunker under the ground, with no memory of the history. The settings suggests that it was a nuclear disaster and now outside is not livable. But as the story develops it becomes obvious that inside the bunker society there is some conspiracy plot - the totalitarian ideology inside, built to preserve order and guarantees the survival of the community is built on lies. All who tries to solve it dies from mysterious reasons. The laws prohibit any items from before and artificially limit opportunities to develop and progress. The story pulls off with a couple failing to make a baby and eventually questioning the natural reasons and assuming an evil plot. Season 1 leaves us with more questions than answers, but it is a very intriguing and captivating detective story in a science fiction setting. Love it!

The meticulous and brilliantly realized set of the Silo is complemented by outstanding acting - especially by Rebecca Ferguson. It is a real accomplishment to make vividly real the sense of age and crumbling societal stratification in the Silo.

It is refreshing to have some multi-dimensional characterization in a Sci Fi series production.

I hope the second season brings together such talented production values, acting and writing. Being based on a good book doesn't always guarantee a good movie or series, but in this case the series is an outstanding achievement in its own right.

Rebecca Ferguson is standout in this movie, as she is in Dune 2 and will be well worth. Tim Robbins brings alive the character of Bernard Holland brilliantly.

My first ever review!

I read the triology by Hughes years ago and enjoyed the books tremendously. When I randomly scrolled IMDB and found SILO I was immeadiatly intruiged. I can see somewhat mixed opinions and I can relate to some of them, here's my take on the first season.

First, I adore dystopian literature! The dystopian genre offers unique psychological perspective for human nature in hypothetical scenarios. My fondness for the triology solidified because Hughes managed to develop Orwellian ideas within a hypothetical relevant to the modern world. Imagening the development of human psyche in dystopian scenarios is a challenging task. I think Hughes did a wonderful job, SILO captures most of these aspects in a refreshing way.

It's not adaptation in the sense that it follows the storyline. It is based on the books, but naturally has to adjust to the viewers in a fast paced world. Nevertheless, the series manages to capture the atmosphere of a society living in a silo. The acting is phenemonal for the most central characters. In contrast to shallow story-telling of other shows, «SILO» has a wonderful blend of character development and atmospheric focus.

The only problem I have with the show is the lack of atmospheric development. They spend a lot of screen time on the chasing and capturing of Juliettte. They lack atmospheric development of the silo as a society. Naturally it has to appeal to a reiceiving audience.

Overall, it's a very well-executed post-apocalyptic dystopia. The cast, setting, world-building, and production design are all superbly done and engaging. The script and dialogues also make sense and are largely believable. People enclosed in a bunker, curious about what's happening on the surface. The idea is somehow already familiar from similar series like Fallout. While the narrative elements, from a fallen world to a dictatorial leadership controlling its citizens with strict rules, lies, and half-truths, are not entirely new and innovative, there are still good reasons why the series stands out. Unlike similar sci-fi stories that often surprise with half-hearted twists, the series maintains a sense of mystery while consistently revealing new information about the silo and the dystopian world to satisfy the hunger for answers.

Besides the tense story and immersive atmosphere, perhaps the biggest strength of Apple's sci-fi series is its incredibly strong cast. It's a superb series, an apocalypse underground.

The negative reviews seem to be from people who have not read the books or perhaps from those who prefer a lot of action with little plot depth or thought commitment. Make no mistake, this is a slower build of events and a lot of mystery to solve. Another reviewer mentioned there being only one mystery to solve which couldn't be further from the truth! There are a multitude of mysteries to unravel in this story.

This series brilliantly captures the books so far. There is a lot of content to cover so of course it may seem drawn out but if you only have the attention span for movies, limited series, or series which have a conclusion each episode then I can understand the response. This story is a long unwinding of many mysteries and cover ups. Patience is key and will be well rewarded!

I've watched a lot of shows in my 66 years. You learn to recognize the 'filler', scenes that don't go anywhere, that don't move the plot, that pan over that set they just spent a lot of money on. This show has a lot of filler.

This show just doesn't come together. There's some clues and meaningless conversations and you keep waiting for a tidbit of meaning and it doesn't show up.

I got to episode 5 and I'm bailing. I was hoping it would work. There's always hope, right? Not in this case. Save your time. Do a crossword puzzle, clip your toenails, start your winter holiday plans.

I love sci-fi. This show is not worth your time.

I liked Silo very much. Just my kind of series. I love mystery and suspense. I had neither read nor heard of the books that Silo is based on though.

The story is good and interesting. The series takes place 140 years after the apocalypse. The 10,000 people who are now left live in a silo, and these people have never been outside the silo. They don't even know what stars are. They know, however, that it is fatal to go outside the silo. Some people choose to go outside to find out more, but they always die. Those who remain in the silo can witness through a window every time someone wants to go out, and see how and when they die. Rebecca Ferguson has the lead role as Juliette Nichols, who tries to find out what's outside the silo and why they can't go out without dying.

The acting is good, as is the character development. However, the pacing can be a bit slow, as there are some filler episodes. They undoubtedly could have shortened the series by at least two episodes, but it doesn't bother me that much, because the series as a whole is very good.

I look forward to season 2 with more suspense, mystery and answers about what's going on outside the silo!

I didn't expect to find a gem in apple TV! I heard good reviews about this show and got hooked. I wish i knew about this show sooner. Every episode I was on the edge of my seat- it's very fast paced and i hope they continue finishing the story! Despite the other reviews here, i found the pacing to be perfect. It was a good balance between the more emotional, reflective moments and high tension scenes which I appreciate. It would be disappointing if another unique show got cancelled. Rebecca Ferguson was amazing, although i could hear her accent come out, it didn't detract from the show. I have to also give it to the sound and set design. The score is beautiful and the sets seem realistic for a dystopian story. I liked how the brutalist design of the silo contrasted with a sort of lived-in human experience of little trinkets, fun mid century furniture/finishes and a steam-punk-esque infrastructure.

The Wool Trilogy books are among the best books I've ever read. I was extremely hesitant to watch Silo because I had such a vivid internal vision of this post-apocalyptic world from the books, and I didn't want to ruin it. That being said, I'm halfway through the 1st season and it is nothing like the books in the best way! What I mean is the framework is there, the events, and the basics of what made the books great. However most of the detailed storyline is completely new and embellished and fills in gaps of things that were hinted at or glossed over in the books. What I'm happy about is that I have still maintained a distinct version of the books in my head, and the show like a new fun version. I have to say they did a PHENOMENAL job with the casting and sets. So much of it was how I imagined. But the differences set the book apart and I like that. This is probably the first time that I'm happy the show isn't just like the books, but I still really enjoy the show. Super well done!

I have just started watching this show. Something has stood out from the beginning. The sound of the actors' voices is very clear. My compliments to the sound people, this is a small miracle.

I very frequently struggle to hear what actors are saying in shows and films. Perhaps it's something to do with the acoustics of a silo? But I think not, I believe it is down to some very good work by the movie sound people who record and edit the voices of the actors. It is rare to hear the voices of actors with such delightful clarity.

It is almost like hearing the voices of actors in the theatre, it is so good.

I am several episodes in now and I am enjoying the acting and the story. There are good characters well portrayed and something is gradually being unravelled with regard to the history and operational details of the silo. I am not sure where it is all leading yet, but it is certainly keeping me engaged.

I have now completed series one. I really enjoyed it. There is a significant element of the ending that is identical to a reveal that happens in a film. To avoid spoilers I won't say the name of the film, but I'm sure that others know the one that I mean if they have seen it. This did not detract from my enjoyment of Silo and I'm not sure who came up with the idea first in any event as I don't know when the book that Silo was based on was written.

This universe is quite exciting and fascinating, I wanted to know what happens next and what is the mystery behind. The aesthetic representation of the buried city is successful, in simple and evocative settings, with an industrial tendency, as is the opening credits music. The narration involving different periods adds richness to the storytelling. Rebecca Ferguson is quite interesting in her physicality. On the downside, the mise-en-scene is completely ordinary and basic, as is the dialogue. I was bored and skipped some conversation scenes. A worthwhile series on the whole, although not achieving excellence.

I did not want to watch this show by its premise or the trailers, until someone I trusted recommended it. Wow am I glad I gave this a shot!

Episode one is genuinely a perfect pilot episode from start to beginning. I'm fact, you can just watch it as a short story and it's fantastic like a (good) Black Mirror episode. If you don't immediately love the show after episode one, then you probably won't enjoy the rest of the show.

My wife and I binged this together over 2 days and had our own theories as to what was going on in the story, which to me illustrates an intriguing mystery when you can have several theories with your own reasoning behind them.

The main character also wants to solve the mystery right away, but they keep running into hurtles which forces them to adapt and fix the problem at hand before moving on. It's a great way to introduce characters and other aspects of the show.

It's puzzling to see others reviews about how the show is slow. If you think this is slow then don't watch GoT, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Soppranos, or The Wire, THOSE are slow!

Give it a watch, you won't regret it. The average score is high on every platform for a reason!

This TV Show had potential, interesting sci fi story about life in some sort of bunker. The first 2 episodes kept me intrigued, I liked the idea of humans being brainwashed into solitary life because someone thought it was a good idea. In the current context very much like the 'pandemic' we recently had, if you didn't follow the Sheep you would be ostracized, alienated, harassed etc... This show has a similar feel, someone built the bunker, brainwashed humans to think that it's toxic outdoors so generations thought they would be safe living in this Bunker.

Now back to the show, it started of well, human did some research and figured out that the outdoors wasn't toxic and decided to go out, husband follows 2 years later. Now these two main characters have disappeared and the story suddenly focuses on a third party.

It's starting to have that 'Lost' TV show feel, constantly making up side stories with no conclusions, episode 4 would be our last, cbf trying to figure out the many connections and having to wait until episode 10 to get any sort of conclusion!

Silo is a very good sci-fi show that has that rarity that is so sadly missing from most other sci-fi series and movies - it is actually very smart!

The writing is excellent, it's well directed and the stars are all great in the acting department. Some of the supporting and lower characters could have been better but all in all this was a job well done by the casting department.

I do understand why some of the other reviews seem to point out that the show starts great but then goes off on too many "side adventures" unrelated to the main story, that don't get resolved, but I am actually completely fine with that. I'm sure the show will be back and that they plan to continue and resolve the various storylines.

I for one am very eager to see how they tie everything in together when it comes back!

Not having read the book I was straight in blind here. Basically it's atmospheric; well visualised, some great actors (sorry, to be politically correct, do I need to describe them as thespians ? ? ) . Rebecca Ferguson is absolutely marvelous in her role as Juliette Nichols, and it was great to see Will Patton ( remember the classic Falling Skies ? ) and Iain Glen ( Resident Evil; Game of Thrones ) lt's not just a sci - fi story as the Mystery element is the overwhelming genre. It's a bit plodding in the middle at times , but the last episode of the 1st series just leaves you demanding more - lovely twist !

You will love this. Loveable characters, a couple of nice plot twists. Nice parallels to the world we are living in which spark curiosity and questions around our lived reality. Fast paced, enthralling. Favourite series I've watched this year. So glad it's been renewed for a second season and am on the edge of my seat wondering where they will take this next.

Don't want to do spoilers... there's a couple characters I hope to see on the other side though. I really hope main character finds love again but her top pursuit is truth. That I can relate to.

It's an interesting take on the underground bunker story, of a people who survived underground for such a long time that a civilization arose within it, with lore, myths, beliefs, rituals and ceremonies that are rooted in events that have been forgotten, and a status quo social structure is founded. And when that status quo that preserves the order is questioned, enforcement and punishment follows. A power structure forms, creating a stratified populace, both figuratively and literally, from top to bottom of the silo. That's the premise, and while not entirely original (think Snowpiercer, Dark City, etc.), there is enough novelty here and seems well-executed for a TV series.

Good acting by Oyelowo, with familiar faces in n Rashida Jones and Will Patton. (But as you can tell from the show poster, they are guest stars who will give way to the regular cast, with Rebecca Ferguson as the lead. ) The show appears to be pretty decent, with good production values. There are elaborate sets and good CGI to provide a believable atmosphere.

Though a suspicious mind will pick on some obvious conspiracies early on, there are mysteries being uncovered that will keep me watching.
