With 'The X Factor' axed (as much as ITV try to convince us it's 'resting' in a very Monty Python way) and signs that even the reliable 'Britain's Got Talent' was wilting Simon Cowell dreams up this.
It's very nice of him to give some of his old mates a bit of work (Dawn French, Alesha Dixon, Gary Barlow) but this, like many a modern talent/game show is only worth watching for the last few minutes where the person decides to 'walk the line' or 'cash out'.
It's a bit like 'Masked Singer' in that sense.
Will this be the next big Cowell hit, or be a one year thing never to be spoken about again? Time will tell.

Just how long can the slow death of these talent shows be prolonged?
I would think that palliative care would be the order of the day but no, Simon Cowell trots out yet another to prop up his dwindling bankbook.
The jury of 'experts' propounds the same old clichés we've been hearing for 20 years on shows like Pop Idol, X-Factor, The Voice etc.
No reflection on the artistes but this is well past its sell by date.
Not even the stunning Maya Jama can save this Christmas turkey.

Awful from start to finish. Mediocre singers apart from about 3. And who walked away with £500,000 at the end? There were 2 winners. Simon Cowell and Gary Barlow. Unbelievably dire! ITV please stop!

This could have been done so much better! The entire format just seemed unfair, even if all the acts were randomly picked, how is it fair if someone has to perform week one and then would need to battle through another 5 episodes to win, and another contestant picked to perform in the finale and they could win £500,000 with 1 performance! Even if there was one winner each episode and the winners all performed again in the finale for a chance to win the cash. Also, some of the judging panels comments were repetitive which made it boring and predictable at certain points. The only redeeming features of the first series were the incredible singers Ella and Nadiah, a very deserving winner!
