After 13 years, TV broadcaster Nigel McGuinness shocked the pro wrestling world at All Elite Wrestling’s All In at Wembley Stadium last month when he returned to the ring. The London crowd welcomed one of their own as he entered the Casino Gauntlet match. Before becoming a wrestling commentator, the well-traveled veteran was seen as one of the biggest what-if stories of the modern era. Now the 48-year-old finds himself in prime shape and ready to write another chapter in his storied rivalry with Bryan Danielson. McGuiness challenges the Aew World Champion for the Grand Slam edition of Dynamite from Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, NYC, on September 25. Given the two’s history of show-stealers in Ring of Honor, this is a full-circle moment for the star. We sat down with McGuiness to see where his mind is heading into the milestone battle and what it might mean for the future.

With the death of William Friedkin sending shockwaves through the film world, as everyone pays tribute to his classics The French Connection and The Exorcist, now is a good time to look back at one of his most underrated movies, the 1977 classic Sorcerer!
The 1970s were probably the last decade when the film industry had many honest-to-goodness auteurs. Directors who made movies on their own terms without compromises; not just the ones making little indie art films, but the guys in charge of sizable projects with the backing of major studios. Filmmakers like Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Brian De Palma came of age during this era, and were responsible for movies that would resonate for decades. Another name you can add to that list is William Friedkin, who during that period made two instant classics and one misunderstood masterpiece.

It may surprise most music fans to hear a songwriter whose credits include seven multi-platinum singles say there isn’t much money to make for their work anymore. But to the fellow songwriters who’ve spent years asking why their revenues have dried up in the streaming era, such a claim is yet another affirmation for how difficult it’s become to enjoy a sustainable career.

All Elite Wrestling’s (Aew) Tony Khan believes “there could be great opportunities” in a free ad-supported streaming TV channel dedicated to the pro wrestling promotion that he founded.
In an interview with Variety Intelligence Platform’s senior media analyst Gavin Bridge as part of the Monaco Streaming Film Festival, Khan discussed the current state of Aew’s streaming offerings. While the company currently has the subscription service Aew+ available via Fite TV outside of the United States and streams its pay-per-views via Bleacher Report in the U.S., Aew currently does not have a domestic streaming platform for their weekly shows and library content.
“As we build a great library of historical content, it presents more and more opportunities for a potential Fast entry I think,” said Khan, the CEO, general manager, and Head of Creative of Aew.

A win is just another day in the neighborhood for Aew TBS Champion Jade Cargill, the wrestling company’s resident She-Hulk (she’s got the muscles to prove it), whose incredible undefeated streak currently stands at 61-0.

Darby Allin is the resident daredevil of All Elite Wrestling (Aew), but the self-belief required to take such dangerous risks didn’t apply to all aspects of his career evenly. It does now.
A leap of faith off a 20-foot ladder comes a lot more naturally to Allin than speaking with conviction on a microphone. Now a self-anointed “promo guy,” Allin finally believes in the full scope of his talents. It’s an exciting development for an artist who walks, skates and freefalls to the beat of his own drum. Allin challenges for the Aew World Heavyweight Championship — the company’s top prize — at Sunday’s “Double or Nothing” event, headlining a card chock-full of legends like Chris Jericho, Christian Cage and Bryan Danielson.

Welcome back to another review of Aew Dark: Elevation, which features just matches this week. We’ve got regulars Paul Wight and Matt Menard on commentary as usual. So let’s get into the review!
Match #1: Tony Nese and Ari Daivari def. Lane Summers and Campbell Myers
My Thoughts: This was an incredibly dull opening match and a squash match at that too. Nese and Daivari are, unfortunately, pretty much charisma-free and that doesn’t help their matches in the slightest; and with this match we didn’t even get any words from Mark Sterling to cover that fact up!
My Score: 1 out of 5 Match #2: Nyla Rose and Marina Shafir def. Briar and Sage Hale
My Thoughts: This was another squash match from the team of Rose and Shafir. Interestingly, Jon Moxley revealed on a podcast this week that he’s been working with Shafir to try and...

The world is in for a treat when All Elite Wrestling sends the signal from Canada Life Center in Winnipeg on Wednesday, March 15.
Aew Dynamite and Aew Rampage will air from Winnipeg on Wednesday and Friday, respectively, marking only the second time that professional wrestling’s newest major player makes the trek north. Jericho is often considered among the greatest professional wrestlers in history and certainly one of the best to ever represent Canada.
In 2018, Jericho left WWE for a dream match against fellow Winnipeg native Kenny Omega. The match was brokered by another Winnipeg professional wrestling personality, Don Callis, and it headlined New Japan Pro Wrestling’s (Njpw) famed Wrestle Kingdom card at the Tokyo Dome. Jericho says it’s fitting for Aew to debut in Winnipeg due to the influence that match had on the eventual formation of Aew.

Comic book artist Lee Moder, who co-created the Courtney Whitmore version of Stargirl with Geoff Johns in 1999, has passed away, according to ComicBook.com and statements from his peers. The web site cited a family friend, who indicated that Moder died quietly at home sometime on or before January 15th. No cause of his death was given. Moder was 53.
A TV series based on the Stargirl character ran for three seasons on the CW, ending last December. DC’s Stargirl followed Courtney and her stepfather Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson) as she leads an unlikely group of young heroes to take on the legacy of DC’s very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America. Johns served as showrunner, and executive produced the series with Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.
Moder worked in the comics industry for nearly three decades. In that time he drew titles like Legion of Super-Heroes and Wonder Woman at DC.

Isiah Kassidy worked over Nick’s arm but Nick escaped and hit a twisting arm drag off the top rope. Nick tagged in Matt Jackson and the Bucks used their tandem offense on Kassidy. Matt Hardy was looking to jump off the top rope onto Ethan Page when Page stole the glory, knocking down Omega.

Welcome to this week’s review of Aew Dark: Elevation, we’ve got Paul Wight, Mark Henry, Tony Schiavone And Anthony Ogogo on commentary (4 people! 4!) and another short and sweet 6-match card, so let’s get right into the action!
Match #1: Bear Bronson def. Brandon Cutler
My Thoughts: This was the usual Brandon Cutler match. A squash but one that saw Cutler up to his usual antics and comedy wrestling style. Unfortunately for Cutler Bear Bronson took this one a bit more seriously and got the quick win.
My Score: 1.5 out of 5 Match #2: Brody King def. Alex Reynolds
My Thoughts: Another quick squash match for Elevation as Brodie King. Well it wasn’t a Total squash, with Reynolds at least getting some good offence in against the more powerful Brody King. And it was power that won the day here.
My Score: 1.5 out of 5 Match #3: Anna Jay and Yuka Sakazaki def.

Tony Khan loves to keep All Elite Wrestling fans on the edge of their seat. The owner teased a “huge announcement” for April 20’s Dynamite on TBS.
