As a long-time fan of Girlfriends Films, and its original mandate (eloquently voiced on old videos by spokesperson/actress Veronica Snow) to provide realistic and romantic lesbian content to Adult Cinema fans, I must protest the recent dismantling of the studio's production and distribution structure, subordinating everything to a cheap, cheap All-Sex approach.

This VOD only release is an example of the poor production value and zero creativity of new content. Individual vignettes with momentary "story set-up" and then 40 minutes or so explicit sex are trotted out to save a buck, providing passable entertainment to folks addicted to subscribing to porn websites but leaving legacy fans who buy and watch DVDs (and before that the VHS tapes that Girlfriends briefly made circa 2001 at its inception) in the lurch.

These lame stories spend a minute or two with a tutor/student pair pivoting from study to sex on a dime. Like all generic porn, including the amateur variety that Girlfriends content increasingly resembles, it boils down to whether the actresses are beautiful and sexy, and nothing more.

So I enjoyed seeing Casca Akashova, her ultra-fake throwback look making her an unlikely tutor to Aften Opal, but definitely an erotic presence. Likewise, I never had a teacher with such big boobs and deep decolletage as Lexi Luna, all the more satisfying to her young student Natalia Nix who is seduced by the cougar.

But especially in the traditional Older/Younger lesbian sex genre that this label helped pioneer, this is weak tea.
