When I stumbled upon the 2021 Taiwanese movie "Eyu" (aka "Grit"), here in 2023, I opted to watch it since it was an Asian movie that I hadn't already seen, plus it had Angelica Lee on the cast list.
Sure, I had never heard about the movie, so I didn't know what I was getting myself into. And on that account, then director Ta-Pu Chen had every opportunity to impress and entertain me.
However, the movie turned out to be a snooze-fest of a movie, and I found no enjoyment or entertainment in the narrative. It was slow paced, dull, monotonous and just lacked anything to keep my interest. And thus, I have to admit that I gave up on the movie just 32 minutes into the ordeal. I just had enough of the boredom that is "Eyu" by that time, and had zero interest in the characters and the narrative. Nor do I have any intentions of returning to finish watching the movie.
I am sure that leading actor Kai Ko and leading actress Angelica Lee put on good performances, however I just had zero interest in their characters and thus also not in the narrative that director Ta-Pu Chen was trying to push, so I just ended up not caring.
"Eyu" was a massive swing and a miss of a movie in terms of entertaining me.
My rating of "Eyu" lands on a two out of ten stars.
