THE SEASONING HOUSE is the story of Angel (Rosie Day), who is abducted and brought into the house of the title, during the chaos occurring in the war-torn Balkans of the 1990s. She is picked to serve the brutal pimp of the house, Viktor (Kevin Howarth), who gives her the run of the place, keeping her for himself, and not allowing her to be touched by the repugnant male clientele.
Angel falls into the soul-crushing routine of her new "job", until fortuitous events unfold that change everything.
Ms. Day is the center of this film, and she carries it with aplomb. Angel is a shattered human being who has lived through enough tragedy to become utterly numb and lifeless. Yet, in spite of it all, she somehow manages to have a dignity that can't be destroyed. She is the sympathetic heart of the story, which makes her vengeance all the more sweet.
Sean Pertwee plays the demonic soldier, Goran, with a seething menace just below the surface, ready to explode into violence at any moment. This is one of Mr. Pertwee's best roles. When he and his men arrive at the house, they have no idea what they're about to experience.
Disturbing, gory, and intense, especially during the harrowing final act, this one is not for the squeamish or easily offended...
