This show never really got of the ground for me. What made it interesting is definitly the way the story is told from two different perspective. Nice touch on the unreliable narrator concept. But other than that there is not much to talk about. I honestly had to look the show up to write this review because I had forgotten most of it - even though I watched it just two week ago. That is not a good sign. There should be something that would make me excited for a second season. However I do not regret watching it - it did pass the time. Richard Harmon was the highlight of the show for me. If there was another season I would tune in but with no excitment or great anticipation to be honest.
Zoe Christensen (Emilija Baranac) is a Vancouver bookworm high school student. She has made an university ID to study in the library. Her hard-partying best friend Rebecca Li (Jennifer Tong) needs a new fake ID. They join drug dealer Tryst (Richard Harmon) to start a fake ID business.
This is a CBC show that got picked up by Netflix. It has a couple of interesting moves like the multiple point-of-views and unreliable narrators. The opening probably shows too much. It depraves the show of some of its tension. The subject matter reminds me a little of Good Girls. As for the girls, they are pretty good despite being thirty playing teenagers. The first season ends with a promise of more although more is unlikely.

Not a single line of wasted dialogue. It all either makes you laugh, manhandles your feels, or leaves you staring at the screen with a surprised Pikachu face. I was completely thrown by the ramping up in episode five from frothy, witty YA crime caper to Breaking Bad. Tryst is Jesse Pinkman meets the Artful Dodger? Or do I sound like Sally making bad theater references here? (You will either love Sally or break out into hives, and whatever ends up happening, you're SUPPOSED to feel that way.) I love lusty Sophie and Clem the not nice guy. These are fleshed out side characters with their own motivations and lives off screen, hopefully positioned to spring into action with more screen time in season 2. Also, shout out to the costume department? The clothing was ridiculous and wonderful. The consensus is everyone is surprised at how good this is, so spread the word and lets make sure there's a second season.

Two girls who are so stupid, annoying and obnoxious, one of them a spoilt little idiot. Both sell fake ids. Then down the line they dump in another girl in who is do so so annoying it is unreal.
Then to add to it all, all they do is scream and shout at the top of there voices. It drives you mad.
It got four because the storey was actually good. But would have been way better with the lead actors who didn't make you want to bury your head in the darkest cave just to avoid their high pitch screams and complete stupidity. If you want to empower then stop making yourselves look like fools in every lead role you get.

This series is amazing! In less than 4 hours the show managed to weave an intriguing and compelling plot, to present the three mains giving them emotional depth and telling their family issues, providing the sincere point of view of each in a complex story where the truth is never absolute, as in life. This show manage to amuse and move. The energy of the actors shines through in every scene; the beginning is a bit chaotic but when the characters finally take the place of the clichés, telling us about their humanity, it is impossible not to be captured by them. They really put great care in costumes and hairstyles, Becca is absolutely glamorous. The music is also super. The finale screams for season 2!

Was pleasantly surprised to come across this on Netflix. The show has solid pacing and dialog, which keeps the story moving forward without ever feeling rushed or dull. I was able to watch the entire season in just a couple sittings. All the actors were really well cast, though the character of Tryst seemed to be the most engaging for me. Even though the show is labeled as a comedy, I feel it goes a bit above just the laughs by really exploring all the characters interpersonal relationships. The serious moments give us a reason to care and a reason to root for people. Really hoping for a second season.

I wouldn't exaggerate if I say this is one of the best series in netflix,
I don't know how but it's just really good, I watched it twice in a row,
The story telling and how unique it is, the way we see the scene from each point of view is just amazing 👏 , you wouldn't expect this much from a serie I would say with zero marketing, like there's no ads or recommendations from netflix that's what's make it underrated.
I really recommend it to everyone and I'm sure you will finish it in one set and probably re-watch, believe me that's how good the show is.

How are we not all talking about how awesome this show is? Do yourself a favour and watch this show.
I loved the different view points from the characters. Pretty much everything about it: how it was filmed, casted, shot. Richard Harmon, Jennifer Tong, and Emilija Baranac were meant for these roles.
The musical score really fit the series. It is easily the most bingeable show on Netflix (or cbc gem in Canada) right now. Really hoping season 2 comes out soon. As a debut show from David Turko, I'm really setting my sight on all his future series as I've been really impressed with this one.
Just do it. Watch it now. You'll love it.

First of all, i have to say it is one of the 3 best shows on Netflix for me. As it was based on true cases, although the story is fictional, the showrunners let us to face to a few problems of teenagers. Personally, i love the way they did that, finding a good balance between humour, violence and emotional (sometimes sentimental) moments. I enjoyed watching the story through the eyes of the main characters, they represented well how big difference there's between the point of view of each person, and how easy to misjudge people at first sight.
Furthermore, i have to highlight the marvelous job of the actors. All were unusually good at portraying their characters. They made me believe that i see real people on the screen: nice, innocent, a bit silly and annoying, but definitely real characters struggling with their own everyday life.

Good funny crime thriller series for teenage, but this is not for whose like to watch serious crime thriller movies or series, if you to chill with series this will be a good entertainer for you, story and teenage drama wise is good, but don't expect extreme violence or action. One more positive point is running which is 20min/ep,it will not waste your time, I pretty enjoy it, and you will connect to the characters and acting is also pretty nice . You will also see 4th wall break the characters speak will see you which is nice, this is not for family, and believie me teenagers you will love it. This is my review.

Thank you Netflix for Fakes. Overall comedy but has its moments that surprise me in a great way. Got to watch. Great casting and set. Love the scoring. Alternating viewpoints and what the character Zoe and Beca are experiencing was interesting and was refreshing to the narrative. The show keeps you on your toes and never a dull moment with the interperonsal relationships of the characters and how the deal with each situation as they unfold. Tryst is so engaging to watch. There is so much to build on, You can't just leave season 1 like this, you just can't. Was this film in North America cause it has a very European vibe on the set. Can't wait to see the next season.
