Based off of the 1991 UK TV series starring Helen Mirren called Prime Suspect (1991).

The show was originally set in San Francisco, but the setting was changed to New York City, because the producers thought New York was grittier.

Each episode was an hour long, unlike the original UK version which used a two hour TV movie format.

Both Brían F. O'Byrne and Kirk Acevedo feature in the HBO series Oz (1997).
