It would be impossible to sort out the 100 plus Playgirl DVD compilations by title by memory, as they merge into one long blur. But this edition has some quality femme talent to divert the viewer, even though the fiction was maintained, both in packaging and marketing, that it's all about the boys.
Yes, a master's thesis has yet to be written (and I guarantee never will be) on whether this particular line was aimed at women, men or that elusive beast called "couples" when cranked out nearly a decade ago. It doesn't pretend to be a DVD original, as every volume is loaded with constant plugs for the Playgirl TV on-line phenomenon.
But I review these, as well as the current spate of Gamma internet product, as DVD artifacts, following a tradition dating back to the era of theatrical porn. Internet and now streaming content is all the rage, but what trace will it leave?
Skye Blue is the talented director of most Playgirl vignettes, augmented here by the work of two colleagues. James Avalon contributes "Hired Help", a stylized segment in which Mysti May is the boss and soft-core vet TJ Cummings her workman. It has some silly SPFX before his money shot on her belly.
Toni English/Kelly Holland, mastermind behind the rival Penthouse Video vignette series (oddly enough, virtually identical crews work on both labels' projects), directed a bonus segment titled "Waterfall Fountain", in her usual romantic style with Nick Manning doing the honors with Kelli Tyler.
Among the other Skye-piloted vignettes, Ann Marie Rios impresses as always in the opening segment, though her costar Aaron Wilcoxxx swallows his minimal dialog. His character is a negative, callous one, and this is a bit odd for the generally dreamy, romantic mood expected here. Far better is Rocco Reed, oddly cast as "Country Boy", servicing the lovely Soleil for some interracial action. Anthony Rosano and Angela Attison engage in some BDSM lite, a vestige of Skye's alternate career in the bondage/fetish genre before she graduated to directing.
