Both of them were classmates in National School of Drama, and there Tigmanshu had promised Irrfan that one day, he will try and get Irrfan one national award for acting. In the following phase of life, Irrfan got bored of mediocre television roles which he was getting to play, and expressed his desire to quit acting to Tigmanshu, on which the latter said, "Don't you remember? I'm gonna get you a national award, come let's make a film together."
