“Our father would have hated you.”
Shared leadership rarely wins the war, and tonight’s episode of Vikings drives home that theme as the first of many battles finally gets underway. Though the clash between Ivar’s forces and the Christian army led by King Aethelwulf and Bishop Heahmund occupies the majority of the episode, the struggles others face offer no less compelling accounts. In the end though, it’s the fractured Lothbrok clan that continues to drive the narrative in Homeland.
In spite of the fact that their appearances are brief, Bjorn and Floki’s stories nonetheless receive vital attention.

Sean Fahey, founder of Black Jack Press and mastermind behind the outstanding weird west anthology series, Tall Tales from the Badlands, has begun a Kickstarter campaign to launch a new anthology, Sagas of the Northmen, featuring one of medieval Europe’s most feared cultures: the Vikings. On the Kickstarter page, Fahey states, “In the tradition of the medieval Icelandic Sagas, our book features tales about (seemingly) ordinary men and women finding themselves in extraordinary circumstances. The subject matter explored in this inaugural volume is expansive and includes stand-alone tales about the infamous raid on Lindisfarne, Leif Erikson, the Icelandic justice system, the Viking funeral ritual, the Varangian Guard, the Viking warrior ethos and Freydis Eiriksdottir’s expedition to North America.” These are some truly epic tales from Viking history. The raid on Lindisfarne was a brutal attack by the Vikings on English villagers and marked the beginning of the “Viking Age.

Clive Standen, the actor behind Vikings' Rollo, talks to us about Norse mythology, fight scenes, and historical accuracy in drama...
The History Channel's hit show Vikings, finishing up its third season and already looking to its fourth, tells the story of the first contact between the Northmen and the Christians of Western Europe. The series focuses heavily on King Ragnar Lothbrok, his (ex-)wife Lagertha, and brother and sometimes rival Rollo as they fight their way to power and across western Europe. Clive Standen, who portrays Rollo, talks with Den of Geek about Norse mythology, the pointlessness of sex and violence on-screen, and sibling rivalry on an epic scale.
I wanted to thank you for taking the time to talk to us. And congrats for what is shaping up to be a really great season.
Thank you, yeah. It’s taken everything out of us, filming this season.

The Vikings finally reach the long-promised city of Paris in this week's episode of The History Channel's excellent period drama...
This review contains spoilers.
3.7 Paris
Publicity surrounding Vikings this season has been almost entirely about the Northmen’s move on the city on the Seine, and in this week’s episode, we finally got our first look at the city of (eventual) light. Ironically, despite all the build-up about how amazing the town would be, it was actually just about the least interesting thing in this episode which bears its name: Paris.
And that is largely because it is the most modern of the settings that we’ve seen so far on Vikings, and thus, it looks like a dozen other medieval sets we’ve seen. There’s nothing particularly foreign or new about the architecture the inhabitants live in or the clothes they wear. That doesn’t mean...
