I am really surprised that nobody has voted or reviewed this wonderful effort.
I must say this documentary has opened my eyes to understand many many things you cannot get from the books about music history. The sacred music presented there, all the composers and some of their best works were so alive.
This movie is like time machine...
First of all - The Sixteen choir with its director Harry Christophers are AMAZING... The movie helps you get inside the choir almost like being one of them and listening to some "insider" words coming from Mr. Christophers...
As for Simon Russell Beale - the person who is taking your hand and guiding you through all these ages and places... and composers - the only thing I would say is one big THANK YOU!!!
These documentary series are something I won't forget. They helped me not only to touch the music, but understand it in its context - the specifics of the ages, people and places...
I recommend it to everybody interested and loving music!!!!
