In the old days of Hollywood, people of color were often relegated to being cannon fodders in big-budget releases. While things have drastically improved in the last few decades, some projects still bear this issue, and it appears Taylor Sheridan’s Tulsa King season 2 might be subject to it.

On top of some poor characterization of certain major characters, especially Jay Will’s Tyson, the penultimate episode also shifts the main threat to the Yakuza and Triad. Moreover, certain aspects of this episode feel reminiscent of the age-old white savior trope.

While Sylvester Stallone’s Tulsa King continues to hit big numbers for Paramount, on the writing front, there have been some notable letdowns in contrast to its previous outing, and the ninth episode is no different. In the penultimate episode of Tulsa King season 2, Dwight momentarily contemplates killing Armand after the latter ends up stealing half a million from him.

However, the mafioso decides against it, and reflecting on it, Armand’s actor Max Casella weighs his own theory on why Dwight chooses to be merciful.

Tulsa King has brought forth several notable faces out in the open embracing their true criminal minds. In this actor, Sylvester Stallone might be the most significant, as the mobster Dwight “The General” Manfredi. Others are also not far behind with their own story arcs in the Taylor Sheridan-created show.

On same subject, actor Max Casella also had a few words to add for his character’s season two fate, which is definitely not subtle in nature. While it was just a wordplay on his part, it does bring out the true demeanor of his character, and the questions surrounding his loyalty to Dwight.

“Yellowstone” is finally back.
Taylor Sheridan’s series, which last aired a new episode on Jan. 1, 2023, is the most popular show on TV. Given the lengthy time off, exacerbated by two Hollywood strikes and the prolonged tug-of-war between Sheridan and star Kevin Costner (which ultimately led to his departure), anticipation for the show is at an all-time high.
Going into the second half of season 5, there is a grab for power in the Dutton household, between Jamie (Wes Bentley) and Beth (Kelly Reilly), with Kayce (Luke Grimes) also in the mix. Rip (Cole Hauser) was headed with the herd to the 6666 ranch in Texas. And tensions were otherwise running very high. Everything is ready to explode.
But how do you actually watch the new season of “Yellowstone,” which is technically the second half of season 5 (or 5B)? Let us explain it all. Here’s when and where to watch new episodes of “Yellowstone,...

[Warning: The following post contains Major spoilers for Tulsa King Season Episode 2, “Triad.”] After making what could’ve been a grave mistake, Armand (Max Casella) finally made things right and set it square with Dwight (Sylvester Stallone) on the penultimate episode of the season on Tulsa King. After stealing half a million dollars from the dispensary by holding up Goodie Carangi (Chris Caldovino) at gunpoint, Armand went on the run and found himself at a very literal crossroads. Instead of taking off with his cash, though, he decided to turn around to face the music with Dwight, asking his boss to take his life so he didn’t have to do it himself. Though Dwight might’ve been tempted to do just that in a former life, as the General of Tulsa, he decides to be merciful and make good use of Armand’s desperation. With Armand’s intel and a tentative truce between Dwight, Cal Thresher (Neal McDonough...

On Tulsa King Season 2 Episode 9, unlikely alliances and shifting loyalties set the stage for a battle against a greater threat.
Dwight Manfredi, ever the strategic thinker, partners with Bill Bevilaqua and Cal Thresher to tackle a new adversary — a move that’s as surprising as it is dangerous.
As these men come together, the cracks in their relationships deepen, and the episode takes us on a rollercoaster of trust and betrayal.

The addition of Native American allies, led by the enigmatic Old Smoke, brings another layer of complexity to this unfolding drama. Known for his deep portrayals of Native American characters, Taylor Sheridan gives the episode a distinct feel that elevates the story.

The second season of Taylor Sheridan’s Tulsa King is yet to find its groove, and with two more episodes to go, things aren’t looking any brighter. While many aspects of this season have been underwhelming, compared to its predecessor, excluding Sylvester Stallone’s Dwight, the character of Jay Will’s Tyson is arguably one of the series’ biggest disappointments so far.

Women often compare themselves to others. It’s part of our nature. We frequently want what others have –their beauty, job, or man.
In Three Women Season 1 Episode 9, that came to ruin Sloane’s life, as the episode explored her point of view and Gia and Lily’s.

Paramount Global’s streaming division posted a second straight quarter of profit, boosted in part by net customer additions to its direct-to-consumer streaming service Paramount Plus during the company’s third financial quarter (Q3) of the year.
On Friday, Paramount revealed its Paramount Plus business added 4 million global subscribers during the three-month period that ended September 30, bringing the total customer count to just over 72 million. The season four premiere of Outer Banks brought the Netflix show back onto the streaming charts — but with only half a season released this time, it fell well short of its last premiere.
The YA drama delivered 1.19 billion minutes of viewing for the week of Oct. 7-13 (season four debuted Oct. 10), good for second place overall in Nielsen’s streaming rankings. By comparison, season three’s opening week in February 2023 — which featured the entire season released at once — drew 3.15 billion minutes of watch time.
The half-season release (part two premiered Thursday) for Outer Banks undoubtedly played a part in the lower viewing time total. Season four of Emily in Paris similarly had a sizable decline with a half-season premiere in August (but season three of Bridgerton in May did not).
Netflix’s dating show Love Is Blind led the Oct. 7-13 charts with 1.23 billion minutes of viewing; no other show crossed the 1 billion mark.

For seven consecutive weeks, Max/HBO’s “The Penguin” has ruled the streaming chart, much in the way its titular character hopes to reign over the crime underworld of Gotham City. No one and nothing, ranging from diplomats to lawyers, from Halloween horrors to Martha Stewart, could unseat the show this week on Samba TV’s Weekly Wrap Report.
With one more episode to go, it’s highly likely “The Penguin” will make it a clean eight-week sweep atop the chart – and possibly extend its tenure beyond new episodes, as we saw with “House of the Dragon” over the summer.
Let’s look at the challengers who may hope to hold the crown once “The Penguin’s” season ends.

With eight episodes in and one more to go, the second season of Taylor Sheridan’s Tulsa King is yet to live up to the bar set by its predecessor. Even though the first season wasn’t exactly the most critically acclaimed installment in Sheridan’s filmography, far from it, season 2 on the flip side has taken a notable dive on the writing front.

We just wrote about how difficult it can be to standardize video performance across platforms and streaming services. Netflix infamously once counted a user watching a TV show or movie for only two minutes as a “view,” and though it’s since moved away from that measurement, the memory remains as an example of how streaming services can set their own engagement metrics based on arbitrary definitions that have no cross-platform correlation.
Nielsen does standardize things somewhat, offering TV, streaming, and YouTube analytics based on watch hours and # of users who tune in. But, as Variety points out, because Netflix has so many subscribers, when companies like Nielsen judge its performance based on how many people watch a show, that figure tends to dwarf other streamers, and makes their own viewership accomplishments look pithy.

While the two concurrent shows Tulsa King and The Penguin have some parallels on paper, including the characters of Vic and Tyson, on execution, the former has certainly prevailed. Although Taylor Sheridan’s Tulsa King isn’t exactly notable for its critical prowess, as the show doesn’t shy away from leaning towards more absurd territories, there has been a notable letdown in terms of writing.

Jay Will’s Tyson clearly sums up the state of the Sylvester Stallone-led show, as despite a promising start, the second season hasn’t been able to make him stand out, and fans aren’t pretty thrilled about it.

The late pop star Elvis Presley continues to be one of the most iconic names in entertainment history. The singer was a memorable part of the late actress Teri Garr’s career, who appeared as a dancer in multiple films of the King of Rock and Roll.

After decades of being confined to physically dominating roles, which is reasonable for a guy of Stallone’s stature, Tulsa King finally highlighted Sylvester Stallone’s most overlooked skill, his witty dialogue delivery. While Tulsa King is far from Taylor Sheridan’s best works, since the series’ inception, the Stallone-led show has become the next big thing for Paramount on TV after Yellowstone.

Tyson got very lucky.
For now, Tyson remains a free man in his conscience; he is not yet a killer. Joining forces with Dwight means the possibility is always within reach, but for now, he’s free of that guilt.

In the seventh episode of Tulsa King season 2, we saw that even after being told not to do anything reckless, Tyson had gone and shot at Bill Bevilaqua’s capo. The moment Dwight heard about it, he knew that a war between him and Kansas city was inevitable. Had the Tyson incident not happened, I believe that Dwight would have been able to mend his relationship with Bill, and they would have coexisted peacefully. So, here is a detailed recap of everything that happened in Tulsa King episode 8.
Spoiler Alert
What was Dwight’s plan of action?
Dwight realized that Tyson had done permanent damage, and there was no other option but to face the situation head-on. Bill had come to know that it was Dwight’s men who had shot at Vic Aliotto, and he had made the decision to not stay quiet. Bill was livid, and he wanted to kill Dwight.

It’s not unusual for actors with big stature to get typecast into physically dominating roles, and similar has been the case for Domenick Lombardozzi throughout his career. Since hitting it big in the early 2000s, following his stint in the highly acclaimed The Wire, the actor has continued to star in projects that fed into his tough guy onscreen persona.

In the streaming landscape, it’s been virtually impossible to get an apples-to-apples read on the relative popularity of TV shows and movies.
Netflix, of course, releases its own rankings based on total views, while Nielsen’s measures viewership in the U.S. across multiple streamers. But because of Netflix’s sheer size — it counted more than 282 million subscribers as of the end of Q3 — it tends to dominate the viewership figures tallied by Nielsen.
So what if streaming viewership were weighted based on the size of each platform? That’s the idea behind a new ranking developed by consulting company Owl & Co. For the month of October (Sept. 27-Oct. 24), the firm ranked original series based on Luminate’s Streaming Viewership data, which covers original and library shows and movies in the U.S. and is based on a panel of 2.5 million homes. (Disclosure: Variety and Luminate are both owned by Pmc.

It also moved up one spot in the overall rankings, as the prior week’s second-place title, Inside Out 2, dropped by 50 percent to a still strong 908 million minutes of viewing on Disney+.
Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story finished first overall for the third consecutive week with 1.41 billion minutes of viewing, down about 41 percent week to week. Netflix’s dating show Love Is Blind returned to the charts with a billion-minute week; its seventh season premiered on Oct. 2.

Fans’ perceptions of certain characters in Tulsa King have reasonably changed after the last few episodes, especially in the case of Jay Will’s Tyson and Neal McDonough’s Cal Thresher. While the show initially attempted to paint Thresher in an intimidating light, especially after he persuaded Armand into taking his offer, this no longer seems to be the case.

Taylor Sheridan with his cinematic genius has completely transformed the western drama genre. He entered the industry as an actor but soon transitioned into direction. And rightly so brought forth a slew of shows that not only created magic on the screens but also received major popularity. For instance, his Yellowstone universe has been a staple of the Paramount screens since 2018.

For decades now, Sylvester Stallone has carefully crafted an image of excellence and influence. From Rocky to Rambo, he has plenty of iconic projects that showcase the effect that he has had on the action genre, laying the foundations of what it is today. However, even though he was impactful, his significant roles took over his talent as an actor. That was until Tulsa King.

What’s worse than Tyson thinking his actions killed his father?
You’d think it would be hard to peg down an answer to that question, but Tulsa King Season 2 Episode 7 made no bones about it.
Tyson might have just slipped into the abyss of a killer, a muck he would never be able to extricate himself from, no matter how hard he wished it to be untrue.
(Brian Douglas/Paramount+)
The sad part of his new reality is that Tyson had plenty of opportunities to right the potential wrong.
Tyson was already standing on the edge of the abyss, involving himself with Dwight.
Tyson: I didn’t sign up for this.
Dwight: Then what did you sign up for?
Tyson: To be you.
Tyson saw Dwight as cool and in control, which is ironic considering the man had just been released from a 25-year stint in prison to protect...

In the previous episode of Tulsa King season 2, we saw that Dwight and Bill decided to work with each other and stop the petty warfare which had caused both of them to incur heavy losses. Dwight’s wind farm was attacked by Thresher’s goons, and that created even more animosity between them. Armand was stuck in a perilous situation, and he knew that if Dwight got to know that he was the one who was leaking intel to Thresher, then he wouldn’t leave him alive. Amidst all the chaos, another incident happened that disturbed the delicate balance of things. Somebody planted a bomb in Dwight’s car with the intention of killing him. Tyson’s father got gravely injured, and he was lucky to have survived the attack. So let’s recap the events of episode 7 to find out who was really trying to kill Dwight.

Netflix’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story led Nielsen’s streaming charts for a second straight week — and grew substantially from its debut.
The Ryan Murphy-produced series was the top title for the week of Sept. 23-29 with just under 2.4 billion minutes of viewing time. That’s a 40 percent improvement on the drama’s opening week (it premiered Sept. 19), which had 1.72 billion minutes of watch time, and the highest total for any streaming series in Nielsen’s rankings since Bridgerton hit 2.47 billion minutes in June.
Two other Netflix series had strong opening weeks: Rom-com Nobody Wants This premiered to 1.04 billion minutes of viewing, and the docuseries Mr. McMahon, about World Wrestling Entertainment impresario Vince McMahon, had 908 million minutes.
On the film chart, Inside Out 2 debuted on Disney+ to 1.82 billion minutes of watch time, the second highest weekly total for any film this year, behind only Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F...

Exclusive: Five weeks in, Tulsa King Season 2 is still going strong on Paramount+.
Through 35 days, Season 2 has now averaged more than 10M global households on the streamer, according to Paramount Global. It is outpacing Season 1, which had reached about 9.5M households by this time, by 8%.
That indicates that interest in Tulsa King has continued to grow over the last five weeks, since Season 2 debuted. In the seven days post-premiere, the first episode of Season 2 managed 5.4M active sub households. The episode also broke a record for the series in terms of premiere-day viewership.
(Paramount+, as with all streamers, can’t measure total unique viewers, since the company can’t determine how many people are watching via a single stream, or if anyone is actually watching a particular stream at all. The company reports households instead.)
According to Paramount Global, the series is also generating buzz on social media, with eight...
