I watched this movie when I was younger, and I remembered it being really weird and having mixed feelings about it even back then, so I thought watching the Nostalgia Critic's review on it would be fun. The review was pretty entertaining overall, and he did come up with some interesting criticisms and make some funny jokes. I rather liked how the Critic addressed the apparent purpose of the movie - encouraging kids to read - and how the movie didn't really succeed at what it set out to do.
But, well, the Nostalgia Critic's primary problem with the movie was that it was dull and uninteresting...and unfortunately, a review based on an uninteresting movie isn't necessarily going to be the most interesting review.
I don't know if this episode could've been made better, as clearly part of the problem was with the movie itself. I dunno, the movie seems pretty weird in my opinion, I was kind of hoping he could wring some more criticism and joking out of that, but for all I know, that could have been annoying.
Don't get me wrong, I'd certainly say it's a good episode overall; it's just not incredible. But he did succeed in criticizing something I was nostalgic about, so clearly he succeeded at what he set out to do!
