Overwhelmed by the excitement around "the new Cheburashka", I decided to watch the film with the whole family. I wish this never would have happened...

The film with a strong cast is nothing but a collection of loosely connected scenes. Even if some of them are well-played one can easily throw away and destroy 30-40 minutes of the film without losing something valuable or ruining the storyline.

The main character - Cheburashka is cute and that's probably the only positive point of this movie. Toddlers from 3 to 6 can watch and enjoy it, but for all the elder ones the film will be quite boring; I would even say... disturbing because loneliness is a leitmotiv running through the entire movie: a lonely Cheburashka, lonely children, lonely adults, strange, useless characters of the second plan with uncomprehensive behaviour and useless dialogues.

Add to this a soundtrack where a big part of the musical sequences are completely out of sync with the camera movement and the acting of the main characters and you will obtain a bitter cocktail of sentimental fuzziness.

The jokes are flat (but OK, many people like that), and the twists are predictable (with the exception of different reactions of Tanya, whose son Grisha was silent for five years and suddenly spoke thanks to Cheburashka; but guess what!? Tanya, as well as other family members who saw this miracle produced by a strange fluffy creature sitting next to their dear son, scream and shout and then... they all forget about it in the next five seconds of the same scene. What the...?)

Well, guys, do not waste your time on this and do not trust paid comments or the ones made by film creators, cast or their friends (this is the reason why I give it one star as I wish to counterbalance it). The film is suitable for a family evening with 3-6 years old kids, but would you enjoy it? I think not, especially if you are familiar with the original story created by Eduard Uspenskiy. The fact that the creators of the film did not include a mention of him in the credits, nor of Leonid Shvartsman, who designed the famous image of Cheburshka, leaves a bitter after taste of this Chebispoliation...

The film captures your attention from the first minute, is very colorful and will appeal not only to children, but also to adults. This film balances between children's and adult audience interest. So that neither of them will get bored while watching. The plot is very kind and instructive... And most importantly, without any vulgarity. A few words about humor. It's harmless, in a good way, and mostly visual. Cheburashka is a good choice, and perhaps it's worth applauding how the creators managed to complete a difficult task. I recommend watching this movie either with a child, the children's part of the hall was delighted, and it will cheer you up.

Watched it yesterday and it was wonderful little movie. The story is simple and has a heart. Some good humour, Cheburashka was very cute (was surprised how well graphics were considering that this is not American production ) . But as an adult I really liked Gena's character and his story moved my heart to tears (and every other adult in the theatre) . I don't know if teenagers or people in their 20's would enjoy it as much as kids and people in their 30's and older but I strongly recommend it. I think movie did quite well at the box office and they plan to make a sequel and Im glad to hear it. I would like so see Cheburashka and Gena again. Good job :) And also I've noticed that a lot of people gave this movie 1 as their rating but I doubt these people actually saw the movie and perhaps they have alterior motives for rating movie so low....

A good movie about an old and quite popular in the post-Soviet countries Cheriburashka, a very good movie to watch with the family, the quality of the graphics is not the best but that all the cuteness of the situation is not lost. The plot is corny, but the film is definitely worth watching, a film worthy of its class.

The character himself is very cute and would go great for selling merch on him, I think this movie should not be missed with the events that are happening around Russia. The film will find its niche among such nice family films in the evening. Definitely recommend it for viewing.

I am an American and watched this movie with English subtitles today. I'm not normally a person who likes animated movies, but this was very well done. The characters had depth and the story was much more interesting than just Cheburashka himself. This was about a broken family that needed to be repaired and Chebi is just the creature needed to help the family with their unresolved problems. But of course, there's always villains to add a little tension to the movie and they were appropriately exaggerated and done well. It's hard not to be endeared to the relationship that develops between Chebi and Gena. I was told that Russian comedies have a little bit of funny and a little bit of sad.
