What I love about Dan Vs. is the maintenance of its writing quality through each episode. Rather than what's expected from viewers, the writers often take the series in a whole different direction, tackling such concepts as "The Wolf-Man" or "The Catburglar", so the show is unexpected and refreshing. Not only that, but surely (even though you may not be a rampaging jerk hellbent on vengeance in regards to everything you deem has wronged you), we can all relate to Dan's shenanigans one way or another.
You basically have the three main characters: Dan (voice-talented Curtis Armstrong), his friend Chris (Dave Foley), and Chris' wife Elise (Paget Brewster). Dan is an anti-hero in his own right and easily becomes one of the most hilarious characters on the show. Chris is a pushover known for his excessive eating and some of the humor stems from this fact. Elise often disapproves of Chris' constant aiding of Dan's schemes, but will occasionally join in if she has something to gain by it (as is the case in the pilot episode). This keeps the episodes varied and adds a touch of adventure to them.
The jokes are cleverly-written and - since the show was originally intended to be a live-action sitcom - you get that same sort of vibe in them, mainly stemming from Dan's witty intelligence... or a lack thereof. (Though you really have to love Dan's social commentaries.) While the character designs are great (particularly the main characters), the animation (which is done entirely in Flash) is occasionally shoddy and would need some improvement. Other than that, the show is generally visually-appealing and manages to pull off quite nicely.
I first viewed this show after seeing several promos of it back during the beginning of 2011, when The Hub was a fairly new network. Most often, people tend to skip this show in favor of The Hub's more prominent programming - such as My Little Pony. While I hold no grudge against these shows in particular, I would recommend thinking "outside the box" and giving this one a try. Not the best cartoon by any means, but one that manages to surpass other recent releases.

I checked this show out after The Mysterious Mr Enter review it. And I'm glad I did. Dan vs. is one of the most underrated and funny shows I have ever seen. The humor is well thought out and smart. The show unlike a lot of other adult animated cartoons doesn't make a lot of references to real world events which makes it more enjoyable. There's not much more I can say except that it's really funny. Definitely check it out. You won't regret it.

Before I started watching Dan vs, it was just something I saw in commercials but wasn't really interested in. But then one night my brothers and I actually paid attention to one of the ads and we liked it, especially since one of our little brothers is named Daniel, is short, and has black hair. We decided to try it out and we were instantly hooked. Dan vs is hilarious, original, and seriously underrated. Dan comes off as a sociopath but is really just sensitive. VERY sensitive. He just can't get past the annoying things the rest of us just deal with. He's the kind of guy you'd hate in real life, but can't help but love on in the show. With his pushover best friend Chris and Chris' secret agent wife Elise, there's never a dull moment. The dialogue is always funny and clever, and although the story can get pretty out-there sometimes, you don't even mind because the story and characters are so fun to watch. Dan vs's brand of humor may not be for everyone, but you have to give it a try because if you don't, you're depriving yourself of some quality entertainment.

I adored this show when I first saw it a few years ago. I watched the entire show within days and I was so sad when it was over. I heard they're thinking of rebooting it so I just want to put the word out that I LOVE this show. It has so much potential for a reboot, it was ahead of its time in terms of writing, and I know for a fact there is fan interest in the series to this day. VIVA DAN VS

You will either love or hate this show ...there is no in between. Slightly offensive, ridiculously hilarious, and unequivocally brilliant...I can't say enough about this show. The writing is everything, the voice actors are amazing, and all in all not a moment of my precious time was wasted watching - every minute was well spent and worth it. This show is shamefully UNDERRATED and better than most cartoons ever hoped to be.

What's not to love about this show? It's got action, slapstick, observational humor, a weirdly sympathetic antihero on a mission of rage and vengeance, and a generally insane yet somewhat accurate depiction of life in Los Angeles. By that I mean that things tend to catch on fire with no provocation - but it's also the only cartoon I've ever seen that depicts day-burning street lamps in the scenery. That's attention to detail right there, to say nothing of the scenes in the show you can actually identify as real LA places. Sig alerts, sequestration, Silicon Valley; they might as well say "shot on location," because it's basically the real world in irony-laced ink. You can also play "who's that voice?" with the frequent guest VAs. The writers do an excellent job of keeping the characters consistent and the character development progressing smoothly, and the show has a definite continuity, but one that doesn't impede just jumping in anywhere.
Other reviewers have some discouraging things to say about the Flash animation, but having been raised on Homestar Runner and other web cartoons I can tell you that as Flash animation goes, this show is just about top notch. And the Dan Vs. animators manage to largely avoid the phenomenon of significant asset reuse that seems to plague most other symbol-based cartoons (Jimmy Neutron, Foster's Home, et cetera). This might be due to the background art having this funky watercolor style that scintillates into the character art.
Everything else positive I could say about the show has already been said by others. I'm just telling you what I've noticed. It's a great cartoon; watch it.

I sort of liked this when I first started watching. I liked the zany narratives that could go anywhere, I thought Dan was a distinctive character that we don't got too much of and it was refreshing to see someone actually succeed in their revenge plots. I like seeing people succeed in revenge when they're genuinely wronged.
Dan may be a clownish character who takes a lot of things way too seriously but he's oddly sympathetic as a little man who was never designed for the world we presently have.
What made this show less and less fun to watch was constantly seeing Dan inconvenience his friend. Lucille over stays her welcome quite a bit too. It's not that the formula got old, it was just annoying to see Dan (who is always so ungrateful) drag around the other guy at the latter's great expense (whether monetary or otherwise).
I'll get to watching it one day and even then, this is a once in while show, not something to make a regular thing.

It may not be for everyone, but Dan Vs. has a seriously devoted cult following, and for good reason. It's a show about an angry man who believes that the world is against him. He easily jumps to rash conclusions, and tries to get revenge on anything from the wolfman to Canada. Unlike many other cartoons on air today, Dan Vs. pushes the network censors and doesn't care about having "positive role models" or being "politically correct". This kind of show has not been seen since the 90's. It's humour is different than anything else on TV right now. It's different, but it works. Give this show a try, you may be happily surprised.

Dan vs. is very original and entertaining. The characters are very familiar to views because we all know someone that takes EVERYTHING personally. Thankfully, most of those people just go thru life sulking and unhappy. Dan, on the other hand, takes it to the next level and plots real revenge. His buddy Chris, who's laid back and mostly cares about his next meal, is always along for the ride, usually as a chaperon to Dan's antics. This show is very funny and even kid-safe. Dan is a human version of Daffy Duck run amuck, and Chis is the easy-going, if not as clever, Bugs. I miss the old days when cartoons were witty and smart without resorting to shock value. Curses to The Simpsons and Family Guy.

Every once in a while you find shows on this site that miraculously have high reviews for some strange reason and this is one of them. The fact that this is any higher than a 4 rating is insane.
I wanted to give it a chance it seemed very quirky and new, but the main character is annoying. He's always complaining, yelling at everyone which is fine if it's funny, but he has one mode only and after a few episodes of starts to get annoying.
I tried to skip around a couple of shows and a couple of seasons to see if it gets any better, I even tried to just have it playing in the background to see if I could subconsciously like it while doing other tasks but it's just the same thing all the time.
I am still trying to find the humor, but I did not laugh one time. This is a show you should avoid and do not get sucked in by the unbelievable high ratings. Do not waste your time.

Dan vs. is a hilarious family friendly show that isn't all about the good guy winning or hero saving the day but instead it's about a short angry man who gets revenge on absolutely everything and anything! You'll find you're self getting more into Dan's antics as the episodes go on because each character is so unique and funny, there are no "filler" episodes either, and each episode feels fresh and new with occasional reoccurring characters and areas. My favorite part of the show is at the end when Dan has gotten his revenge (on his usually innocent victims) and is at home about to relax when karma comes and ruins his day, no matter how many times Dan wants to ruin someones life (or actually ruins someones life) life always comes back and smacks him back down. Which is funny for adults to watch and good for children watching because revenge is never right! (such BS) It has also an amazing fandom on tumblr and Facebook! you should go check out the official Dan vs. Facebook page, it's run by Dan himself!

It's so good! The irony of Chris and the punishment Dan gets for being a jerk is all hilarious. Elise episodes aren't that good because of the spy focus not being what we looking for on this show. Her being a secret spy and being the wife an idiot should be funny right? Well the episodes where they focus on her being a spy are the most dull episodes. She's still a good character though. The average rating of this show is 7.9. Don't let that small rating affect your view of this show, it's so underrated that it should be rated at least 8.3 out of 10.
I found myself liking this show since it aired back in 2011 and its just overall a really great show the characters feel unique and I find them each giving me a great laugh watching this underrated classic made me love this show Dan the main character as a whole is just a site to see. Its funny sometimes a little bit of dark humor and fantastic characters I definitely recommend checking this one out if you haven't watched it yet.
Dan Vs. is a very good show. It is better than anything Seth MacFarlane could come up with. Seriously, Family Guy is a has-been, American Dad! is a never-was, and The Cleveland Show is just plain pathetic/racist. Dan Vs. reminds me of the great turn of the century animated series. This includes Duckman, Dr. Katz, early Family Guy, Dilbert, Mission Hill, Father of the Pride, Pinky and the Brain, The Critic, Stressed Eric, Clerks, Home Movies, Game Over, The Oblongs, Baby Blues, etc. It is curious that it is on The HUB, which mainly targets children. I guess it is one of those shows like Eeerie, Indiana. They appear to be kids shows, but if you watch it, you will know they are definitely not. Curtis Armstrong is a star on the rise, and Dave Foley and Paget Brewster are already household names. There is plenty of dark humor, as well as subtle socio-political commentary. Mandel and Pearson obviously know their stuff. Great job guys!

I'm not sure if I'd show this to a child. While the cartoon violence is comparable to that of many kids' shows, there are some mature jokes (including references to bestiality, lots of arson, and mention of that godforsaken Canada) and very few decent role models. If you're a parent, I'd at least screen one or two episodes before letting your child watch it. This is a very clever, funny show, vastly underrated and appealing to a wide range of ages. Sure, there's the potential for offense, but I'd say it's definitely worth watching. While character growth at some point would be nice, this is one of the shows where, at the end of twenty minutes, everything is back to normal. As long as you're aware of the difference between fantasy and reality, I doubt watching Dan Vs. will drastically affect the amount of crime you commit on a yearly basis. Of course, I cannot speak for everyone: there will always be those so easily inspired/influenced/provoked (take your pick) that they interpret mention of corrupt politicians in a song as a cue for them to smear blood on the walls of their victims' houses.

I Like all dan being a jerk is funny for me somethings but the episodes can be boring somethings like the monster under my bed, Chris is a good character, and and I like Elise, i like the character too, so that's why this show is a best, but in my opinion, I give this 9/10, but the characters somethings nice and bad
Dan Mandel, full name Daniel, is the titular villainous main protagonist of the 2011 animated TV series Dan Vs. He is an argumentative and vengeful man who always calls his best friend Chris, whenever he is plotting or enacting revenge.
Chris Pearson (Dave Foley) is the deuteragonist of Dan Vs. He is Dan's best friend and Elise's husband. He is loosely based on the series co-creator of the same name.

WARNING! This review contains possible spoilers to some episodes and is another one of those "Matthew Rants" reviews (please refer to my ONE MILLION AC/DC review to get a feel for one). If any one likes this show, please leave immediately! Leave as if it was something like F FOR FAKE.
What is this? This show FAILS to be funny. I saw a few episodes and they were not funny. It looks like REVENGE OF THE GROUCH (who gets his comeuppance at the end). MAD, THE LOONEY TUNES SHOW, PHINEAS AND FERB and any show created by Butch Hartman look AWESOME and ENTERTAINING compared to this. The "hero" is a long suffering grouch who gets revenge on the things that annoy him. If anyone attempts to copy that stuff, would end up in a heap of trouble, or possibly behind bars! Who on their right minds would WANT to do such a thing. Most shows I grew up had a positive message and value and were very funny and delightful to watch. This one fails epically. It is a complete waste of time, money, skill, talent, and computer work. No wonder there is nothing good on TV. All the shows range from painful to watch and listen, and are negative. Would it kill the network to think outside the box. There's MATT'S MONSTERS, a cartoon from France made by the creator of ROBOTBOY. This French cartoon is funny and family/kid-friendly. GAWAYN (made by the same creator), is as funny as hell. I recommend these two (if you are living in other parts of the world). Please, for your own good, avoid this show like the plague, and I recommend watching something like TUFF PUPPY.

Dan is a jerk yes, but he's a loveable jerk. He's unreasonable, bossy, rude, and annoying, but in the most hilarious way possible. I never thought a grumpy main character seemed like a good idea until i came across this show. The writing, character design, and punchlines are stellar and i have watched this series over and over again. I hope for Dan Vs. To continue because i love every second of it! Dan never bullies people, he only exacts his revenge. For being a nobody, Dan is always very easy to root for. Please give it a watch, it is absolutely unforgettable and every time i introduce people they end up loving it too.
Not exaggerating in the slightest when I say this is my all-time favorite show. I've rewatched the series countless times in full, have hand-made my own merch, and engage with other Dan Vs fans daily. It's fun, exciting, and the characters are quirky but loveable. I remembered watching some of the episodes when I was younger, but it wasn't until relatively recently as an adult I decided to give it a full rewatch. Ever since then I have been obsessed with this show, the characters, the hilarious episode topics and Dan's unending anger. It would be my dream to see this show get revived and I know many others wish the same thing too. It's a wonderful piece of media and I really hope there is more to come in the future.

My best friend recommended this to me and I was skeptical at first but oh my god. I am so addicted to this series, I just finished it and I'm craving another season. It's just, so good and genius and funny with lovable characters. It's a crime that this series only has 3 seasons, it deserves all the hype. The premise of every episode is the same but they're all so entertaining and you can differentiate them from each other. The jokes hit hard, and you can get some sweet moments between the three main characters. Dan and Chris make an iconic duo, with Elise tagging along as the mysterious but hilarious and loving wife of Chris. Dan vs definitely goes in my favorites.
