JACK, early 40's, sits alone in his car contemplating robbing a bank. He's suddenly startled by a knock on the driver's side window. GRACE, pretty, early 40's, stands there, peers inside. Grace's car is out of gas and her cell phone is dead. Can Jack give her a ride? As they drive down the road, Grace reveals she's really an angel and she knows what he was about to do. Annoyed and believing Grace is crazy, Jack pulls over to a roadside diner for a cup of coffee and an excuse to get Grace out of his car. In the diner works JILL, early 30's's, an overworked and underpaid single mother of a young boy. The last thing she ever expected was to see Jack, her estranged husband walks through the door. Jack disappeared two years prior after getting kicked off the police force. He owes back child support and alimony, but all Jill really wanted was her husband back. The scene is tense, and Jill is too angry to even talk to Jack but she agrees to meet him later and allow him to see their son. After leaving, Jack pulls into a gas station to fill up his tank and stumbles into a robbery in progress. His police instincts suddenly kick in and he uses the same gun he was going to rob the bank with to stop the robbery. Jill takes him back and he is reinstated back to the police force.

LILY, a smart, pretty, and caring high school student confronts her father, NATHAN, before school about the car accident he caused, putting her mother, GRETA, in a coma. OLIVIA, the new high school principal, is a young administrator with a big problem - her biology teacher, MRS. JOHNSON, just quit and she's in need of a good substitute teacher. Mrs. Johnson is old and finally had enough of the rambunctious kids in her class. With nobody to teach class, Olivia puts her head on his desk and says a quick prayer. When the morning bell rings, GRACE walks into his office with her teaching credentials. She's hired. The KIDS are rowdy but impressed with their new teacher. After school, Nathan finds Lily walking home and they rush to the hospital to see her mother while there is still time. While at the hospital, Nathan has an encounter with Grace and Lily has a chat with Jerimiah. They both speak on the power of forgiveness. Shortly after, Greta passes away, leaving Lily and Nathan heartbroken. Before Greta ascends into Heaven, she visits Lily and tells her to take care of her father. Lily forgives Nathan for the accident and their relationship is mended.

When SARAH, the owner of the local bookstore, receives a large rent increase from her new landlord, she's unsure how to afford it. Answering an old "help wanted" sign placed in the store window, GRACE enters with a box of donated books and volunteers to help until things turn around. Now with more free time to spend with her daughter, the divorced Sarah attends a birthday party with her daughter running into the recently widowed STEVE and the two make a connection. They decide to go on a date and have a great time until Sarah learns Steve's company is the new owner of Sarah's building. Sarah is so upset she asks Steve to leave. Grace convinces Sarah to give Steve and love another chance, so she pays him a visit. Before she gets there, our other angel, JEREMIAH, pays Steve a visit to tell him that his wife is safe in Heaven and it's ok to move on with Sarah.
