With a title like Nightmare on 34th Street, I was initially hoping for a horror take on the classic Christmas story Miracle on 34th Street but I soon realised this wasn’t the case as this started shaping up as a horror anthology. But that’s okay. A horror anthology with some loose connections on that story could be pretty good too. But this wasn’t the case either. They’ve just chucked that kind of Christmas-sounding title on this Christmas horror anthology.
After the initial disappointment, I was ready to enjoy the movie though. Horror anthologies are a subgenre I generally enjoy but Nightmare on 34th Street is, at best, a mixed bag.
Initially, what turned out to be my favourite segment I didn’t actually like at first because...

Partially funded by an IndieGogo campaign, writer/director/producer James Crow’s holiday horror anthology film Nightmare on 34th Street – which has been described as a cross between Pulp Fiction and Tales from the Crypt – is now set to make its way out into the world and will be receiving a digital release tomorrow courtesy of Wild Eye Releasing. In anticipation of that release, a trailer for the film has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.
Nightmare on 34th Street has the following synopsis: A mysterious and psychopathic Santa visits a small, rural town with a bag full of unusual gifts and twisted holiday stories featuring Krampus, a murderous St. Nick and killer carol singers that are certain to ruin the Christmas season forever.
The film sports a cast of 90, including Lucy Pinder (Strippers vs. Werewolves), Caroline Boulton (Infinity Pool), Dani Thompson (Powertool Cheerleaders vs. the...

With over a decade of experience as a horror writer and director, Pat Higgins will be Horror-on-Sea Film Festival on Saturday 20th January with his latest Master Class: Fear and Film. I got chance to ask Pat a few questions about what we can expect from the talk, some of his influences in horror and the various incarnations of his film The House on the Witchpit.
What can we expect from the Master Class: Fear and Film?
We try to have a mix of useful tips and tricks for people making independent horror movies, along with unseen video clips and (hopefully) entertaining stories! There are a couple of live shows from previous years over at http://pathiggins.me.uk/appearances/ for the curious. This year’s show is very much focused on fear itself, and the relationship between fear and movies. I’ll be sharing the movies that scared the...

Producer Jonathan Sothcott talks about running an independent film company in the UK, finding the right project and a post-Brexit industry.
Jonathan Sothcott has had a hand in producing a whole lot of independent films here in the UK over the last decade. You may have even seen a fair few of them yourself, especially if you’re a Danny Dyer completest.

He’s the man behind Hereford Films, the production and financing company he runs with partner Damien Morley. If that name rings a bell, it might well be because Morley owns a modelling agency that takes care of most of the Page 3 girls, and the entrepreneur has even recently launched a bid to buy the Page 3 brand off The Sun himself.

Three overage scouts are pitted against zombies in this hackneyed horror spoof
Closer in tone to the cheap thrills of Strippers vs Werewolves than the superior laughs of Shaun of the Dead, this empty-headed derivative splatter spoof pits three overage boy scouts against an undead outbreak with results more suited to the sofa than the cinema seat. The gags are hoary (gropey male virgins, rotting female lap dancers, Re-Animator-style cunnilingus), the gore plentiful but unoriginal (Braindead did the tooled-up set piece better way back in the 90s), the scares nonexistent (The Evil Dead this ain’t). Putrefied audiences may get a few yucks from the crass schoolboy blend of tits and offal, but connoisseurs will opt for the much funnier Cockneys vs Zombies.

Englund's iconic Krueger.
Freddy Krueger himself - or at least the man who played him, Robert Englund - is to make a special appearance at this year's Film4 Frightfest, it was announced today. Besides A Nightmare On Elm Street, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, the 67 year old actor has also starred in genre hits from V to Strippers Vs Werewolves, as well as playing a memorable Phantom of the Opera. “Englund is one of the genre’s originals and we are thrilled to host such an icon of fright,” said festival co-director Alan Jones.
Also big news for fans is a scheduled appearance by legendary author and noted recluse Alan Moore, creator of the original comics behind From Hell, V For Vendetta and Watchmen. Moore will introduce his new short film triptych Show Pieces along with its director, Mitch Jenkins.
Other stars joining the line-up are horror's latest.

There's long been a hidden link between Hollyoaks and horror. Here are 10 actors who've made the jump from soap to gore...
Nb: This article contains spoilers.
There’s a moment in one of comedian Simon Amstell’s stand up shows where he recounts a conversation he once had with the executive producer of Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks. Trading on the commonly held opinion that Hollyoaks is “rubbish”, Amstell enquired as to why the producer didn’t try to make it better. The answer came that they did make it better, but people stopped watching.
Even by the not-so-great standards that soaps are measured, Hollyoaks has always been firmly towards the bottom of the ladder. The fictional Chester suburb where the majority of inhabitants are extraordinarily good looking but also extraordinarily stupid has been identified by its often wildly outlandish storylines and impossibly pretty people.

Martin and Gary are back, in Danny Dyer gangster movie Assassin
• Martin and Gary Kemp: 'We complement each other'
The good news: Martin and Gary Kemp are to be reunited on the big screen for the first time since their critically-acclaimed performances in 1991's The Krays. The less good: the former members of 80s new romantic act Spandau Ballet are set to appear in a Danny Dyer gangster movie.
Titled Assassin, the new film has Jk Amalou on board as writer-director. The Kemps will play London gangsters the Albert brothers, with Dyer himself set for the lead as a professional contract killer who discovers his latest target is the estranged father of the woman he loves.
Producer Jonathan Sothcott, whose credits include infamous 2012 low budget turkey Strippers vs Werewolves (which took just £38 in its first week at the UK box office) is working with Dyer on a number of new films.

When I received my review copy of Strippers Vs Werewolves, I have to admit, I thought I was going to have keep it hidden and watch it late at night with the door closed. Completely judging it by its title and box art, I thought I was in for a night of cheap exploitative T n' A that I better keep to myself. You know, the kind of film that I would never intentionally choose to watch.
Yea, right. Who am I kidding?
Turns out, the letcherous qualities of Jonathan Glendening's Strippers Vs Werewolves ends at the premise. The rest is good clean fun, within reason. What we get is a London based (ie. thick thick accents) comedy where a pact of out of shape werewolves (meaning no six pack abs on display here) are at odds with a troupe of exotic dancers...

Damsels In Distress (12A)
(Whit Stillman, 2011, Us) Greta Gerwig, Analeigh Tipton, Adam Brody, Ryan Metcalf, Megalyn Echikunwoke. 99 mins
Stillman casts a wry eye across the college campus, and settles on Gerwig's clique of preppy girls who confuse charity with condescension. The result is distinctively articulate, witty, gently surreal and hilariously sarcastic. But as well as parodying these misguided teens, Stillman clearly has great sympathy for them. It's good to have him back.
Avengers Assemble (12A)
(Joss Whedon, 2012, Us) Samuel L Jackson, Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson. 142 mins
Considering the lack of leeway Whedon had with this superhero juggernaut, he pulls off a remarkable feat, keeping all the plates spinning with as much irony as he can get away with. It descends into a numbing effects orgy, but it's fast and fun along the way.

Director Jonathan Glendening of 13Hrs werewolf notoriety doesn’t move that far away from his furry feral fiends in his latest grizzly flick, Strippers Vs Werewolves.
This exceptionally daft, tongue-in-cheek pastiche of the erotic slasher B-movie also taps into the comic-book filmmaking fascination of recent years with deviant glee, but all with the sole purpose of entertaining in the most blood spewing and badly acted way. And for those who never tire of Robert ‘Freddy’ Englund cameos, there’s a treat for fans too.
After werewolf Mickey (Martin Kemp) is accidentally killed in strip club Vixens, the girls who work there have until the next full moon to work out how to respond and defend themselves, before his bloodthirsty wolf pack, led by Jack Ferris (Billy Murray), work out who is responsible and seek murderous retribution.

“London, 2020. As the radioactive clouds begin to fade after a devastating nuclear war, the last dregs of humanity fight to survive – drought and famine cripple this cracked, broken world. Electricity is a thing of the past. Hideous mutants stalk the night, desperately searching for food and warmth. A cold planet. A dying planet. Superstition is rife. Evil rises. Now this is the tits. An all-new poster, a far better one at that, for Strippers vs. Werewolves has been released for director Jonathan Glendenning, and it’s funky enough to appreciate. But deep down, don’t you feel as if the girl on the poster is still too clothed? Show ya money-maker!
Who is the sexy Ali Bastian (who plays stripper Danni) pointing her shotgun at? Why none other than Martin Kemp of course – who plays strip-club punter Mickey – who just happens to be a werewolf.
Centered around Vixens, a London strip-club, Strippers Vs Werewolves has an all-star cast including Adele Silva, Billy Murray, Barbara Nedeljekova, Ali Bastian, Lucy Pinder, Martin Compston, Robert Englund, Sarah Douglas and Alan Ford.

Last month a first look teaser was revealed for new British horror comedy 'Strippers Vs Werewolves'. It wasn't all that, but hopefully today those ill feelings of disappointment will be healed slightly by the emergence of a new UK quad poster for the Jonathan Glendenning ('13hrs') helmed project. With a title such as that as well you should expect a nice selection of British babes which are handed to you on a plate. They include the likes of ex-soap star Adele Silva and former 'Hollyoaks' star Ali Bastian (featured being a bad-ass on the poster below in some sweet lingerie). Topless 'Hostel' hottie Barbara Nedeljakova also makes an appearance along with the ample breasted glamour model Lucy Pinder. Coralie Rose, Martin Compston, Billy Murray, Alan Ford, Sarah Douglas and Nick Nevern all co-star. Even legendary horror actor Robert Englund ('A Nightmare on Elm Street') pops up!

Black & Blue Films have announced that the icon that is Robert Englund is to make his British feature film debut in Strippers Vs Werewolves as Tapper, a sinister werewolf pack leader, in the film which begins filming on Monday 16th May in locations around London (and oh what I wouldn’t give to be on-set with Mr. Englund).
Jonathan Sothcott, who is producing the film, commented:
Robert is the ultimate horror movie star – and we are honoured to have him on board and proud of ourselves for being the first British producers to secure him for a movie here. Robert has a dignity and gravitas as an actor that lifts any film he’s in. He’s the cherry on our cake.

Not too revealing, well, with nudity like we all want from a flick called Strippers vs. Werewolves, but Dread Central has the teaser poster for the film.
Ahead of shooting on this eagerly awaited comic horror spoof which ‘kick-asses off’ on May 16, Black & Blue Films have released artwork for their teaser campaign.
Jonathan Sothcott, producer, has also revealed the film’s opening scene – which features a stripper, Justice, performing a private lap dance for Mickey, a man who violates the no-touching policy by sprouting fangs and claws and trying to eat her. Justice panics and takes the only option open to her: she drives a silver fountain pen through Mickey’s eye…

Genre mash ups are fun and ages old. Abbott and Costello met an abundance of ghouls, Old Mother Reilly ran into the likes of Count Dracula and once upon a time some chopper chicks rode into Zombietown. Now Jonathan Glendenning's latest film sees Strippers Vs. Werewolves. Sounds like great trashy horror comedy fun!

Nope. She's playing a vampire bride, so you can stop those stripper jokes right now! The very lovely and beautiful Miss Pinder is clearly excited by the role, saying:

Looks like Black and Blue Films is setting up quite the line-up of films. With Elfie delivering cannibals, the production company is also set to unleash werewolves on the public with Jonathan Glendenings Strippers Vs Werewolves. Barbara Nedeljakova and Adele Silva are among the cast for the film...
Jonathan Sothcott, the producer of both films, described the projects as "high-concept genre films." Werewolves and vampires seem to be the go-to ideas lately but with Strippers Vs Werewolves called a kick-ass revenge action comedy about a turf war that breaks out after a strip-club murder' it's probably safe to assume we won't be getting any sort of Twilight looking mayhem.
So you've got cannibals and Jaime Winstone in Elfie and, well, strippers and werewolves in Strippers Vs Werewolves! Someone give Black and Blue Films as much money as they need so they can continue offering up stuff like this.

Actress Sarah Douglas has joined the cast of Black and Blue Films’ latest production, Strippers Vs Werewolves. Best known for playing the evil Kryptonian Ursa in the first two Superman movies, the actress will play Jeanette, the owner of a strip club in the film which is being helmed by 13Hrs director Jonathan Glendenning.
Douglas joins cast that alreay includes Adele Silva (Emmerdale), Barbara Nedeljekova (Hostel) and Billy Murray (Dead Cert). Says Douglas of the role:
She’s a mother figure to her girls. An ex-stripper made good, she doesn’t have a lot of time for men and has no intention of seeing her girls devoured by werewolves.
Jonathan Sothcott, producer of Strippers Vs Werewolves, added:
There aren’t that many real genre icons, and even fewer who are top quality talents and we are absolutely thrilled that Sarah is on board.
Filming on the Black and Blue Films production starts on April 18th.

Over at Dread Central, Strippers vs. Werewolves producer Jonathan Sothcott said that the film has a director and star. The director? Jonathan Glendening, who last directed 13 Hours. The star? Barbara Nedeljakova of Hostel and Hostel Part II fame.
Here’s what the producer said to DC: “We’ve been busy readying our kick-ass style comedy horror Strippers Vs Werewolves at Black and Blue Towers over Christmas“, says Sothcott. “One of the key steps forward was securing the right director, someone film literate enough to make the material work yet with a pedigree that distributors bought into. Step forward Jonathan Glendening, who directed last year’s uber-slick straight werewolf film 13 Hours. I saw that film at Frightfest because Gemma Atkinson, one of the stars is a pal, and I was really impressed – it was a truly excellent example of low budget film making, so I immediately set about meeting the director and Dop.
