'Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing (2010)' is a kart racer featuring several characters from SEGA's back catalogue, including the likes of AiAi from 'Super Monkey Ball (2001)' and Amigo from 'Samba De Amigo (1999)' alongside the eponymous Sonic and several of his friends. It plays like a traditional kart racer, with power-ups and weapons dotted around the tracks. There's also an all-star system which allows players to perform a powerful, character-specific move when they build up enough power by performing drifts and in-air tricks. Drifting is the core principle of the game's design, actually. It adds a layer of complexity, however small, to the otherwise straight-forward gameplay. The thing isn't particularly difficult but it doesn't need to be. It's colourful, fun and easy-to-play. The stages are all trips down memory lane which integrate elements of SEGA's history in engaging ways, while the character roster is relatively eclectic and lively. It isn't hugely in-depth but it's enjoyable. 7/10
