Kate Garraway takes over the successful 'Life Stories' format that had been Piers Morgan's prior, now that he has decamped to TalkTV.
She would not have been my first choice. Lorraine Kelly maybe, but for the format to work, for me it needs to be a firmer person asking the questions.
The studio is lighter and brighter, and really this mirrors the tone of the show now. Garraway is not going to probe the guests as Morgan once did. They get a much easier ride.
Maybe in time that will mean that the guests are lulled into revealing things from their lives that they might not have done previously, but right now this isn't grabbing me.
