In Friends, several Hollywood A-listers made cameo appearances, but only a few manage to grab the attention of the viewers with their storylines. While Bruce Willis as Paul was a fan favorite, another one of Rachel’s love interests could have shifted her storyline in an unexpected direction. The actor in question was Dermot Mulroney, who played Gavin Mitchell in the show.

Gavin was introduced in the later seasons of the sitcom. But his chemistry with Jennifer Aniston’s Rachel quickly became popular, with many viewers wanting her to end her on-again, off-again romance with Ross. But the makers decided to waste his character, and Gavin was given just a three-episode arc in the sitcom.

Jennifer Aniston‘s Rachel had quite an interesting love life on Friends and has dated several characters on the show.

Lamorne Morris recalled a special conversation he had with Max Greenfield just before New Girl‘s series finale.
During an appearance on Penn Badgley’s podcast, Podcrushed, alongside Nava Kavelin and Sophie Ansari, the Saturday Night star shared that the hit show’s cast — which also included Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson and Hannah Simone — “looked at each other like family.”
“It was actually the best time that I’ve had on a production,” he said. “Everybody’s so funny. Everybody’s so thoughtful, kind, caring, and we’re all still really close friends till this day.”
He continued, “Right before we were gonna end, Max Greenfield pulls me to the side, and he goes, ‘Regardless of whatever you’re going to go on and do after this show, it doesn’t get better than this.’ He was like, ‘This is rare. So don’t expect this, what we just went...

Over the past three years, Max Winkler has become near-synonymous with the expanding Ryan Murphy TV portfolio. The indie filmmaker and TV director has helmed episodes of six different Murphy productions during this brief period, most recently tackling the bulk of FX’s Grotesquerie and a pivotal episode of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story for Netflix.
Winkler is already at work on their next collaboration. He’ll serve as director and executive producer on the yet-to-be-titled third installment of the Monster franchise, which turns its focus to 1950s serial killer Ed Gein. The project isn’t just a reunion for Winkler, Murphy and co-creator Ian Brennan; Winkler was instrumental in bringing on another past associate: the series’ lead. Charlie Hunnam, who previously starred in Winkler’s 2019 boxing drama Jungleland, is playing Gein. And Winkler is already quite bullish on how it’s coming together.

What’s better than seeing your favorite sitcom characters shed their hum-drum outfits and status quo subplots for the theatrical costumes and hair-raising horror that only comes with Halloween? From “Freaks and Geeks” and “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” to “Parks and Recreation” and “Bob’s Burgers,” the best TV comedies celebrate October 31 with seasonal half-hours that inspire as much festive fun as they do nail-biting fear.
The most memorable Halloween sitcom episodes go beyond tossing pumpkins at the set dressing and instead dig deep to figure out what the annual celebration of things that go bump in the night might really mean to their characters. Stand-out shows find ways to bring specificity to their Halloween renderings, carefully considering everything from the narratively powerful meaning (or dramatically ironic coding!) behind characters’ costumes to the range of All Hallows’ Eve settings that can fit a story best.

Konstantin Stanislavski taught us that “there are no small parts, only small actors.” Film and TV familiar face Dabbs Greer believed that “every character actor, in their own little sphere, is the lead.” Both would probably have been excited about this year’s Oscar race, where several best picture contenders high-light the power of an ensemble film: no matter where a talent ranks on the call sheet, everyone in the film has some choice scene time.

“Bad Sisters,” Apple TV+’s Emmy-nominated dark comedy-thriller, is finally returning for Season 2, and it got a new trailer on Tuesday. The trailer promises further complications for the five Garvey sisters right when things are finally getting better for them, as they try to keep their murder of John Paul (Claes Bang) a secret while a new character played by Fiona Shaw (“True Detective: Night Country”) is onto them. The trailer is scored by an Irished-up version of Fiona Apple’s “Criminal,” which opens with the lyric “I’ve been a bad, bad girl.”
“Bad Sisters” premiered in 2022 and earned four Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Sharon Horgan (“Catastrophe”), who also co-created the show with “New Girl” veterans Brett Baer and Dave Finkel and serves as executive producer. Three couples and a beach house — what could go wrong??
On Frasier Season 2 Episode 6, Frasier played matchmaker for Freddy and Eve and enlisted Roz as his accomplice in a delightful outing that combined farce with heart.
Yes, that’s right — Roz returned for another visit! That plane she took home to Seattle in Frasier Season 2 Episode 3 barely had time to refuel before heading back to Boston.
(Chris Haston/Paramount+)
Now she and her daughter Alice have joined Frasier and the gang (minus Alan and Olivia) in Cape Cod for an unspecified holiday weekend that seems way too early to be Independence Day.
I feel like it was just Valentine’s Day in the show’s timeline. So maybe this episode takes place on Memorial Day? In any event, there are actual fireworks involved this weekend, if not romantic ones.

If there's one thing fans love to look for in sitcoms, it's unscripted moments. Scroll to the comments section of an "It's Always Sunny" YouTube video, and you're sure to see someone point out how Rob McElhenney is totally trying not to break in that one shot, or how that one actor's line was actually made up on the spot, so the other characters' confused reactions were genuine.
There's no such fun in "The Big Bang Theory," which runs on a format that leaves actors with very little room to mess around. "'Big Bang' is very tightly scripted. Because we shoot in front of a live audience, it's basically like doing a filmed piece of theatre, really," said Melissa Rauch (who plays Bernadette) in a 2016 interview. "I love it so much, but you don't want to mess with what they write because it's almost like this beautiful concerto...

When Lamorne Morris was cast as Garrett Morris (no relation) in “Saturday Night” — the movie about the 90 minutes leading up to the first 1975 broadcast of “Saturday Night Live” — he ignored explicit instructions from director Jason Reitman by reaching out to the man he was to portray.
Garrett Morris’ place in “SNL” lore is unique: He was the sketch-comedy show’s first Black cast member. Morris, then a 37-year-old playwright and singer, was originally hired as a writer, but after “SNL” creator Lorne Michaels got hip to his work in the 1975 comedy “Cooley High,” he was asked to audition to be one of the “Not Ready for Primetime Players.” In the film, Morris struggles to find his place in the ensemble, alongside seasoned improvisers like John Belushi and Gilda Radner.

Celebrity Wheel of Fortune has now been delayed from October 14th, 2024 until 2025. That means diehard fans will have to wait even longer to see Pat Sajak’s final spin. It was no small feat to get “Saturday Night Live” off the ground at NBC, and as a result, the cast of “Saturday Night” is pretty huge. In many cases, the actors also look eerily similar to the people they’re playing.
Hitting theaters everywhere on Oct. 11 after a limited theatrical release in New York and Los Angeles, Jason Reitman’s “Saturday Night” tells the story of the 90 minutes right before the first-ever episode of “SNL.” It’s chaotic and at the time, even Lorne Michaels couldn’t explain what the show was going to be.
Below, you’ll find the cast of “Saturday Night” alongside what their real-life counterparts looked like back then.

Garrett Morris, Saturday Night Live (SNL)’s first Black cast member, appeared on the show from 1975 to 1980 and was best known for his portrayal of the fictional Dominican baseball player Chico Escuela. However, it was his role as Stan Winters on the first three seasons of Martin Lawrence’s self-titled ‘90s sitcom Martin that made a lasting impression on Lamorne Morris, who portrays Garrett in Saturday Night, the Jason Reitman-directed story behind the debut episode of the NBC sketch comedy set for theatrical release in New York and Los Angeles on Sept. 27., and nationwide on Oct. 11. “Whenever you see someone on TV, if you’re an up-and-coming actor, it seems like an impossible task,” Morris tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Martin, in particular, he’s a master of characters. Every actor on that show had the ability to play multiple characters. They were so funny, so loose, it mirrored how...

If there’s anything TV is built for, it’s creating a satisfying romance. The prospect of watching the same characters for several episodes, several years potentially, and see them evolve means that fans can watch as a pairing meet, bicker, fall in love, get together (and maybe do those last two steps over and over again for some on-and-off-again tension), and reach relationship milestones that film can’t really cover with the same breadth. One of TV’s very first hits, “I Love Lucy,” didn’t have the word “love” in it for nothing — at its core, it was a story of a loving (if hectic) marriage.
As the medium has evolved, TV has been littered with absolutely iconic couples. Sitcoms like “Cheers,” “The Office,” or “New Girl” mined gold from the will-they-won’t-they between pairings like Sam and Diane, Pam and Jim, Jess and Nick. Soap operas such...

Jake Johnson has become quite a well-known actor since his role in Fox’s New Girl. Playing the character of Nick Miller, his performance was iconic in so many ways, becoming one of the most unhinged and beloved characters in all of sitcom history. Since then, the actor has only increased his versatility in his craft, being a part of projects like Self Reliance, Let’s Be Cops, Minx, and most famously, voicing Peter B. Parker in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Knowing how much success and recognition he has gained through these roles, it is not surprising when he joins the cast of some projects. However, there was one particular series that had quite a lot of drama surrounding it.

Like any great awards ceremony, some of the best surprises at the 2024 Emmys were those winners that had not quite been on people’s radars. To think that in all 10 years and five seasons that “Fargo” has been on the air, featuring celebrated performances from stars like Billy Bob Thorton, Kirsten Dunst, and Ewan McGregor, the first actor to win for their work on the anthology series is Lamorne Morris, with the “New Girl” alum even besting Robert Downey Jr. and his five different roles on “The Sympathizer.”
And far be it to bet against “The Bear,” which broke its own record for most Emmy wins for a single season of a comedy series but star Liza Colón-Zayas became the first Latina to ever win Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, having won the category against icons Meryl Streep and Carol Burnett. Lamorne Morris has won the Emmy for best supporting actor in a limited series for his role in Fargo. This marks the first Emmy nomination and win for the actor, who rose to fame with his comedic role in New Girl.
While accepting his award for his performance as Deputy Witt Farr, Morris was incredulous at his major milestone. “Oh my gosh! Oh wow!,” he exclaimed. He began his speech by thanking God for “allowing me to be here.”
Morris, who is mostly known for his comedic work, brought humor to his speech. “I also want to thank God for my beautiful mother, who raised me,” he said. “She’s been my biggest champion ever since I…you know, came out…you know, I dropped out of her butt. I know where babies come from!”
Morris also gave a shoutout to his “beautiful daughter,” Lily, “I love you. I told you I would do it.

If you're a fan of the long-running crime procedural "Bones" — which kicked off in 2005 and concluded in 2017, spanning 12 seasons and 246 episodes — then you're definitely familiar with its core cast, who play a mix of scientists and cops trying to solve cases using forensics and, well, a whole lot of bones.
Based on the book series by real-life forensics expert Kathy Reichs and led by Emily Deschanel as the titular "Bones" — or, more accurately, forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan, who bears the on-the-nose nickname "Bones" — the show centers around the fictional Jeffersonian Institute Medico-Legal Lab, which collaborates with the FBI to solve cases based on sparse human remains in Washington D.C. So what happened to the core cast of "Bones" since the show ended in the late 2010s, and what projects have they undertaken since playing police officers and scientific experts?

Sitcoms have been around for nearly as long as television itself. As television sets became the most beloved household item entering the 1950s, viewers embraced the intimacy of bringing visual media into their homes. As more and more people tuned in, networks needed content to air, and the rise of comedy coincided perfectly. The term sitcom (or situational comedy) was coined in 1944 and by the early 1950s the sitcom was dominating the prime-time circuit. The genre began flourishing decades ago, yet it still remains among the most popular genres today. So, how did the sitcom achieve this incredible feat?
Varying Situations, Constant Comedy The evidence that the sitcom would be here to stay comes from the name itself. The situational comedy lends itself perfectly to being constantly edited and adapted to modern times and audiences. It’s a simple format - a group of regular, recurring characters are placed in a humorous situation.

New Girl is definitely one of the most heartwarmingly funny series about friends and love created by Elizabeth Meriwether. The Fox comedy series follows the chirpy and naive Jessica as she moves into a loft with 3 guys who are equally as quirky and weird. New Girl stars Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Hannah Simone, Lamorne Morris, Damon Wayans Jr., Nasim Pedrad, and Megan Fox. New Girl lasted for seven seasons ending its run in 2018, so if you loved the unending optimism, quirky personalities, and a group of young friends trying to find their way here are some similar shows you should check out next.
