This film is editor and writer Will Gilbey's first full-length feature film directorial debut, and he did not disappoint. The film isn't perfect by any means, but considering the filmmaker is not a seasoned pro, there's some forgiveness allowed for typical newb filmmaker rookie mistakes. There weren't many mistakes, and aside from some plot and technical issues, everything else was pretty much on point. The comfortable 87 min runtime flew by with decent pacing, and a story that had a great flow to it, as well as constant tension and suspense. There were some decent twists thrown in for good measure. The casting and performances were good, and the cinematography and score spot on, especially for a B-film. It's actually one of the better B-films I've seen in a while. It's a great one-time watch I'm sure everyone will enjoy, especially with all the big budget Hollywood blockbusters that have come out recently and have disappointed. It's a well deserved 7/10 from me.

Jericho Ridge is another rip-off of John Carpenter's Assault On Precinct 13 (from 1976). It's not the first time they used that story to make a movie and this one is certainly not the worst. I thought it was entertaining the whole time. It's just a more modern version of Assault On Precinct 13. Nikki Amuka-Bird plays the main character and she was very believable in her performance. The acting from the small cast wasn't bad at all. Constant action makes it worth watching. Maybe not always the best decisions were made during the assault but you could blame the stress that comes with it. In short, I've seen worse movies in this genre.

Another variant of ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13, except that some fifty years after the original this looks and feels cheaper than ever and makes the Carpenter film look like a big budget epic by comparison. Here, the cast is whittled down to just half a dozen characters, the villains are little seen, and a lot rides on the strength of the leading character. Thankfully, Amuka-Bird is up to the task of creating a sympathetic lead, glossing over some of the character cliches to deliver a character which is both resilient and sympathetic. The action is less well handled and it's all a little too dark and too slick, but it's watchable enough for a B-thriller.

Violent and action-packed film about a police station surrounded by ominous hired killers. A rousing action film with an acceptable cast , thrills and lots of violence. Concerning a police woman, Deputy Tabby Temple (Nikki Amuka-Bird), and her son Monty (Zack Morris) find shelter in the sleepy police station. Meantime, Chief Deputy Dennis Bailey (Chris Reilly ) and Sheriff Eddie Reynolds (Simon Kunz) are doing their job of stopping a dangerous criminal. Trapped and without backup, a small town cop fights for her life when her remote sheriff's office is targeted by murderous attackers. The policewoman has just assumed the police station. Then the Police station is suddenly under siege and itself surrounded by a heavily super-armed band. When a supposed locksmith breaks into the sheriff's office after a robbery, Officer of the Law Tabby, injured and alone in the station, must defend the place with only a broken gun, a shoddy surveillance system and a police radio for communication with the outside world. A police woman with a war on his hands !. The lethal henchmen that swore a blood oath to destroy the precinct ... and every cop in it! . His enemy... an army of hired killers. The deadliest gang just declared war on the cops !. His only ally... a convicted delinquent. A White Hot Night of Hate!
A tense and vibrant siege thriller, with nods to the classic ¨John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13¨ that was also a homage to ¨Howard Hawks' Rio Bravo¨. It stars a brave agent who tries to defend her remote and isolated sheriff's office from a group of armed invaders. This thrilling film captures the special excitement or mood of paranoia that those under siege live for the night and it will appeal to action movies lovers. Psychosis abounds when the patrolwoman and a prisoner are attacked from all sides and can see no way out making desperate tryings to flee. An unlikely partnership between a Patrol Officer, a criminal and a teen to defend a precinct office against a siege by a bloodthirsty contract killers. The movie has maximum tension , noisy action , emotion and thriller from the subsequent attempts by the violent stalkers to enter in the station and the besieged to survive or getaway for prevention of the seemingly inevitable final . From the initiation of the movie to the end, noisy action-packed and suspense are unstopped . A very thrilling storyline through a much-copied plot and passable casting make this one, well worth watching . The picture is a sui-generis adaptation of the acclaimed Howard Hawks film, the classic starred by John Wayne and Dean Martin : Howard Hawks' ¨Rio Bravo¨ and the subsequent remakes ¨ El Dorado¨ and ¨Rio Lobo¨, that were developed in a besieged jail defended by a tough John Wayne and helped by a misfit bunch . And it was remade as ¨John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13¨(1976) with Austin Stoker, Darwin Joston, Laurie Zimmer, Tony Burton; and¨Assault on Precinct 13¨ (2005) by Jean Francois Richet with Ethan Hawke ,Laurence Fishburne , Gabriel Byrne , Maria Bello , Drea de Matteo , John Leguizano.
The motion picture was professionally directed by Will Gilbey. He's a newcomer director but a notorious editor, such as: White Island, The Chamber, Golden Years , Angel, Assassin, ABCs of Death 2 (2014) . This British director had previously only directed: Blood, Sweat and Terrors , segment Turncoat (2018). Jericho Ridge (2023) rating: 6/10. The film will appeal to thriller enthusiasts.

I put this on expecting it to be background noise while I worked on my laptop but was immediately drawn into the story. The premise is pretty basic and we've seen it a million times but you don't mind it here because all the characters, even the side ones, immediately feel like real people with real baggage. The acting in general is solid all around but Amuka-Bird is amazing. The action is pretty brutal too. There are some scenes where you know what's about to happen but the impact of the violence still hits. Between this and Average Joe, also on BET+, the service is starting to come into its own. The app itself is still trash but that is a different story.
If you're looking for a deep, well-paced, original action film with twists that you don't see coming - then this definitely is not the film for you.
Strong female lead, has a hard life and works as a sheriff's deputy in a small town.
Following a very convoluted, yet obvious plot involving her dead beat son, she is forced to fight for her life when criminals descend on her police station. Yes, it's a discount remake of assault on precinct 13.
Just about the whole films is shot in the police station, which was most likely done for budgetary reasons.
The main problem is the convenience of the timeline. The attackers pause whenever they are needed to. They literally disappear for minutes at a time while the main characters wade through the plot exposition only to return as soon as they're done.
The others problems (in no particular order are): Plot armour, some characters are literally unkillable.
The main character's son's and main bad guy's American accents are TERRIBLE
The entirely predictable ending.
The way cameras etc cut out at the critical moment
The marksmanship on display would make stormtroopers blush.
The weapon handling would make Alec Baldwin blush
The back up showing up right after everything is over.
There are more, but you get the picture.
Given my time again, I wouldn't bother, but it's up to you.

A crime thriller that turns the suspense up to 11!!!! Jericho Ridge is a great way to tell a story that although you might be somewhat familiar with, still manages to keep you on the edge of your seat. A small police department gets broken into that creates a night of chaos! Very well acted, with a really tight cast that brings it all to the table.
Written and directed by Will Gilbey, who really knows how to keep the tension going.
Definitely worth a look for anyone who digs action/crime movies.

As everyone else says in their reviews, this film owes a big debt to John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13. Well, if you're going to borrow, borrow from the best. So, no, this doesn't score many points for originality, but this taut, stripped down actioner is a thoroughly entertaining film in its own right.
Nikki Amuka-Bird is superb in the main role - as she always is - and lends great depth to the police officer character she plays. All the way through, you feel her fear and tension as the situation spirals out of control, and are fully with her as she fights to survive against the odds.
The action scenes are very well done, and there are enough twists and turns to keep things moving along nicely. Most of the other characters are fairly thinly drawn, but this doesn't really matter, and at around 90 minutes there is no excess flab.
I don't think this set the world on fire when it first came out, but it's a hidden gem of a movie that deserves to be more widely seen. Much better than most bloated blockbusters that cost ten times as much!
