Following on from UK Drag Race versus the World, we get Canada's attempt at the format and almost immediately it gets infected by the general niceness of the Canadian wing of the franchise. In fact, there's so much kindness and solidarity that it builds to one of the calmest and least tense finales I've ever seen. This isn't a negative thing though and the more conniving nature of the "all stars" format is almost hilariously ineffective here, leading instead to gentle allyship and calm consensus. It's still privy to all the general wrongs of the bloated franchise: the general cheapness, the tacky editing and the jarring tonal shifts. At one point the PM of Canada shows up and the calm queens even seem to take this in their stride. It's a hoot though and there are some surprisingly strong emotional moments within that took me by surprise.
