PARA: DIES (2022) is an Austrian movie written and directed by Elena Wolff.
Melanie Sidhu portrays Amira, a documentary filmmaker. Amira travels to a rural location to film a lesbian couple--Jasmin (Julia Windischbauer) and Lee (Elena Wolff.)
Some documentary filmmakers step back and let their cameras do the work. However, Amira doesn't direct in that way. Her work reveals tensions in the couple's relationship, and her presence adds to the tension.
I thought that PARA: DIES was an outstanding movie, and rated it 9. Unfortunately, the film doesn't have the minimum five IMDb ratings. I'm also the first person to review it.
One good way to look at this is that Rochester's ImageOut, the LGBTQ Film Festival, brings cutting edge new movies for us to watch. Sometimes the festival circuit for new films starts here. My compliments to the ImageOut selection committee for giving us the opportunity to see PARA: DIES in Rochester.
