The film was also released in Hindi version on the same day as City of Gold.
The film is adapted from the play Adhantar by Jayant Pawar, who also co-wrote the screenplay, and explores the life of Mumbai's mill workers after they were rendered jobless in the early 1980s.
Mahesh Manjrekar had said in an interview he made this film focusing on life of mill workers so that the jobless workers can get justice.
Kashmira Shah had done a bed scene with Vineet Kumar which is a very rare case in Marathi cinema showing such scenes.
