The previous reviewer does a fine job of presenting this movie. I just wanted to add a second positive vote. For a made for TV movie, this is really quite good. Fanny Ardant is a first-rate actress, and it is fascinating to watch a million different shades of emotion play across her very beautiful face.
As I watched this on TV 5 Monde this evening, I thought often that it will strike many American viewers as the quintessential "French movie" - it is almost all talk about emotions, especially love. But the talk is never "literary," it always comes across as realistic and natural. People who have been taught by their educational system to analyze things will, in fact, carry on conversations like this.
You realize how realistic Mme Ardant's character is when, near the end, things take a sudden unexpected turn, and you experience real sympathy for her.
I strongly recommend this movie.
