Based on a very simple script with just a few lines. Most of the lines are improvised in order to make the film more alive.
The film was released in a limited release on September 6, 2013 and made $4,684 from two theaters, ranking #87 on the box office chart. The film went on to earn a total domestic gross of $8,348. The film's widest release was in seven theaters.
This was the first time Lindsay Burdge worked with director Hannah Fidell. Fidell thought that Burdge played very well, and so she asked her if she would like to act in Fidells other movie 6 Years (2015).
Director Hannah Fidell got the idea for this script while she was working as a waitress.
