If you're old enough to remember Fraggle Rock, then you probably remember loving Fraggle Rock. From the genius mind of Jim Henson, they were a bunch of lovable puppets that lived in a cave and shared their home with some teeny tiny builders called Doozers, and some bumbling giants who spent their days trying to catch Fraggles. Throw in an explorer and his wise old dog, and a singing pile of trash (yes, really!) and somehow you ended up with a classic kids show that still has a cult following today. It's welcome news then to hear that Joe Gordon Levitt is teaming with Lisa Henson to bring the Fraggles back to our screens. If we're honest, given the success of The Muppets in recent years, it was only a matter of time before someone decided it was time to revisit Fraggle Rock. Levitt's slate is pretty full at the minute,...

Have you ever wanted to watch Joseph Gordon-Levitt to sing and dance with a host of Jim Henson creations? Because if that was some weird dream of yours, you hit the nail right on the head, and could probably be a studio executive with that kind of mind.
Variety reported on Thursday that Gordon-Levitt will produce and star in a live-action Fraggle Rock movie. The site adds that the bigscreen adaptation of the musical puppet series created by the late Jim Henson has been in the works for nearly a decade, but the attachment of Gordon-Levitt constitutes a major boost.
Fraggle Rock debuted on TV in 1983 as a co-production by British TV company Television South, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., HBO and Henson Associates. It centered on the adventures of cave-dwelling creatures called Fraggles who have to deal with the industrious Doozers and furry giants called Gorgs.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is currently hard at work on Oliver Stone’s Edward Snowden pic, an experience that seems to have left him keen for lighter fare. Per Variety, the actor is now involved in a live-action Fraggle Rock movie for New Regency and The Henson Company. In addition to producing the feature the Don Jon star is also taking the lead role.
Here’s what Gordon-Levitt had to say on his foray into Henson’s magical kingdom:
“The first screen personas I ever loved were Henson creations, first on ‘Sesame Street,’ and then on ‘Fraggle Rock,’. Jim Henson’s characters make you laugh and sing, but they’re also layered, surprising, and wise. From Oscar the Grouch, to Yoda, to the Fraggles. I’ve never stopped loving his work, even as a young frisky man, and on into adulthood. Collaborating with Lisa Henson makes me confident we can do something that Jim would have loved.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is headed to The Trash Heap!
According to Variety, Joseph G-l has jumped on board the live action "Fraggle Rock" adaptation. He'll both star in and produce the feature film, which is based around Jim Henson's wonderfully quirky children's show from the 1980s.
"The first screen personas I ever loved were Henson creations, first on 'Sesame Street,' and then on 'Fraggle Rock,'" Joseph said in a statement, adding that he's never stopped loving Henson's work and he's thrilled to be collaborating with Lisa Henson and New Regency.
A movie adaptation has been in the works for almost 10 years, but Variety noted that, with Jgl coming on board, it gives the project a major push forward. There's no word on when the movie might be released, or other details, but the Doozers are probably busy building all the sets so it may be a while.

Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge wrapped up its first season on Syfy earlier this week, and it has proven to be one of 2014’s most delightful surprises. The eight-episode reality competition premiered in late March to over 1.1 million viewers, making it the network’s highest-rated unscripted premiere since 2013. Each week, contestants are challenged to design and build mechanized, camera-ready creatures, which are then put through screen tests to determine a winner. Their creations are imaginative and original, but they also trigger nostalgia for Jim Henson productions of yore: films like The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth are brought up frequently, as are TV series like Farscape and Dinosaurs. Which got us thinking: Is the Jim Henson Company dropping hints about rebooting these franchises? The recent Hulu debut of Doozers, an animated Fraggle Rock spinoff for preschoolers, did nothing to curb our curiosity. To get the scoop, Vulture called up Lisa Henson,...
